32 Things you need to know after WWE RAW: Seth Rollins, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Shayna Baszler, more

Triple H interrupted Seth Rollins' promo

Seven matches and three promo segments took place during the November 4 episode of WWE RAW in Uniondale, New York.

Heading into the show, WWE advertised that Brock Lesnar would hunt down Rey Mysterio after the WWE Champion quit SmackDown and vowed to target the man who attacked him following his victory over Cain Velasquez at Crown Jewel.

No matches had been announced before RAW. Instead, the company’s preview for the show revolved around Seth Rollins, who planned to address his Universal Championship loss to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at Crown Jewel by making an announcement.

Following NXT’s invasion of SmackDown on November 1, WWE’s preview also teased that Superstars from the black and gold brand could attempt to invade this week’s episode of RAW.

In this article, let’s take a look at 32 things you need to know after the show.

#1 Triple H led another NXT invasion

With the majority of the WWE roster stuck in Saudi Arabia, the November 1 episode of SmackDown centred around NXT’s invasion of the show ahead of the battle of brand supremacy at Survivor Series. This week’s RAW began with three cars arriving at the arena, with Triple H stepping out to tease another invasion.

#2 No pyro for a determined Brock Lesnar

Regardless of whether or not he is competing in a match, Brock Lesnar usually receives pyro during his entrance. At the start of RAW, he marched down to the ring with a purpose, accompanied by Paul Heyman, and there was no time for his usual theatrics on the stage area or ring apron.

#3 The 2019 draft has now officially ended

Almost four weeks after the 2019 draft began, the roster changes are now finally over. Paul Heyman confirmed that Brock Lesnar’s SmackDown contract has been assigned to RAW, in exchange for Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross moving to the blue brand in the additional “blockbuster trade” three weeks ago.

#4 Paul Heyman threatened the audience with Brock Lesnar

“Would you like Brock Lesnar to come over that rail and slap every man in that audience?”

It is not very often that somebody in WWE can threaten audience members and get away with it, but that is exactly what Paul Heyman did at the end of his promo. Brock Lesnar’s advocate added that his client would turn the arena “inside out and upside down like an F-5 has touched down in New York” if he could not find Rey Mysterio.

#5 Brock Lesnar attacked WWE staff backstage

Following Paul Heyman’s promo in the opening segment, the RAW Executive Director and Brock Lesnar made their way to the backstage area. As he searched the arena for Rey Mysterio, Lesnar repeatedly slammed a WWE staff member’s head against a table before throwing somebody else out of a car.

#6 Unique moonsault from Charlotte Flair

After watching her compete in hundreds of matches on NXT, RAW and SmackDown over the last few years, the WWE Universe has become accustomed to seeing the same trademark moves from Charlotte Flair. This week, during her tag team match with Natalya against The Kabuki Warriors, she mixed up her move set by landing a top-rope moonsault on both Women’s Tag Team Champions at the same time, but she only gained a 2-count on Sane.

#7 Asuka tapped out to Natalya

Four days after her history-making match against Lacey Evans at Crown Jewel, Natalya picked up the victory for her team when she made Asuka tap out to a sharpshooter. The finish to the match was somewhat surprising, especially considering that Asuka does not usually lose via pinfall or submission.

#8 Paul Heyman mocked his own commentary team

“Where is Rey Mysterio? Who the hell are you anyway?” asked Paul Heyman when he wanted answers from the RAW commentary team, specifically looking at new commentator Dio Maddin. Heyman even made a heart attack joke about Jerry Lawler, saying he will not be able to be resuscitated if Brock Lesnar gets hold of him.

#9 Brock Lesnar hit Dio Maddin with an F-5

It would have been a big surprise if Brock Lesnar followed up Paul Heyman’s insult by attacking Jerry Lawler, who has not been involved in physical altercations in WWE since his 2012 heart attack. As it turned out, Dio Maddin squared up to Lesnar, who retaliated by F-5ing him through the announce desk.

#10 Rey Mysterio attacked Brock Lesnar with a pipe

Following the incident at the announce desk, Rey Mysterio hunted down Brock Lesnar and attacked his knees from behind with a pipe. He then gained the upper hand in the rivalry by striking Lesnar with the WWE Championship, sending him tumbling down the ramp.

#11 Brock Lesnar vs. Rey Mysterio confirmed for Survivor Series

It looked as though the Survivor Series pay-per-view, which will take place on November 24, would have a RAW vs. SmackDown vs. NXT theme for every match, but that will not be the case. Rey Mysterio challenged Brock Lesnar to a WWE Championship match at the event during a backstage promo, and it was confirmed later in the night that Lesnar accepted.

#12 Limited crowd reaction for Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander

WWE has showcased plenty of up-and-coming Superstars over the last few weeks on RAW. Buddy Murphy defeated Cedric Alexander in another one-on-one match between two rising talents on this week’s show. While the in-ring action was solid enough, it was noticeable that the crowd hardly reacted to what they saw in the match.

#13 Two-man commentary booth

Starting with the Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander match, the RAW commentary team only consisted of Vic Joseph and Jerry Lawler for the rest of the episode. Dio Maddin did not reappear after his attack at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

#14 Slight change of appearance for Seth Rollins

When Seth Rollins appears backstage or during in-ring promos, he usually wears his own “Kingslayer” or “Beastslayer” T-shirts. This week, he wore a plain black shirt when he began to address the WWE Universe about his Crown Jewel defeat, with no logos or merchandise on show.

#15 Seth Rollins addressed fans’ boos

Seth Rollins acknowledged the negative crowd reactions he has been receiving in recent months by saying he “does not give a damn” about the fans who were happy to see him lose the Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt at Crown Jewel.

#16 Triple H asked Seth Rollins to join NXT

Seth Rollins said he is unsure of what is next for him after his long-term aim to stop Brock Lesnar from being RAW’s top Champion spectacularly backfired. Triple H appeared and gave Rollins the opportunity to join Team NXT ahead of Survivor Series, warning the former Universal Champion that he is either “with me or against me”.

#17 Another NXT invasion left Seth Rollins’ future undecided

As Seth Rollins weighed up Triple H’s offer, The Undisputed ERA joined forces with Dominik Dijakovic and Damian Priest to brawl with The O.C., prompting more RAW Superstars to arrive. Rollins did not get involved in the brawl but asked Triple H backstage if he could challenge Adam Cole for the NXT Championship later in the show.

#18 Andrade targeted Sin Cara’s mask

As is often the case when Andrade faces a masked Superstar, he tried to tear off Sin Cara’s mask during a mixed tag team match (also involving Zelina Vega and Carolina) on RAW. The back of Sin Cara’s head could be seen but Andrade failed to take off his whole mask.

#19 Zelina Vega’s first RAW victory

Zelina Vega does not compete in televised WWE matches very often, let alone win them. This week, Andrade’s business manager hit a basement-rana on Carolina to pick up the victory for her team.

#20 Bobby Lashley was on crutches due to a ‘torn groin’

Rusev said he wanted to end his recent “stupid drama”, prompting cheers from the crowd, and told Bobby Lashley that he can have Lana. When Lashley appeared on the stage with Rusev’s wife, the former Intercontinental Champion revealed that he has not been cleared to compete and insinuated that he tore his groin in the company of Lana.

#21 Drew McIntyre appeared… but not for long

Lana revealed that Drew McIntyre had volunteered to fight Rusev due to Bobby Lashley’s ‘injury’. However, it soon transpired that Lashley was not injured, as he struck Rusev with a crutch to cause a disqualification. McIntyre clearly wanted nothing to do with the love triangle and walked to the backstage area.

#22 The Team Hogan vs. Team Flair story continued

It looked as though the Team Hulk Hogan vs. Team Ric Flair story had come to an end when Roman Reigns pinned Randy Orton at Crown Jewel, but Orton’s post-match RKO on Rusev suggests that the story will continue. Another Team Hogan member, Ricochet, helped Rusev fight off the attack, accidentally knocking over Lana at ringside in the process.

#23 Women’s Triple Threat confirmed for Survivor Series

It is official: RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley vs. NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler is set for Survivor Series. This will be the first time that Baszler has faced either Lynch or Bayley in WWE.

#24 Shayna Baszler faced off with Becky Lynch

In one of the best moments of the show, Shayna Baszler and Becky Lynch faced off in a tense sit-down interview in the backstage area. Baszler threatened to damage Lynch’s limbs at Survivor Series, while the RAW Women’s Champion said she does not yet know whether she should respect Baszler or “slap the head off of her”.

#25 Fans hardly reacted to The Street Profits’ promo

The Street Profits have been involved in lots of entertaining backstage segments since the Paul Heyman era of RAW began. This week, however, they hardly garnered any reaction from the crowd during a two-minute pre-match promo on the ramp. The main line came when Angelo Dawkins told The O.C. that mothers love to swipe right on Humberto Carrillo’s dimples, but even that comment was met with silence.

#26 AJ Styles cheated to win

The O.C. vs. The Street Profits & Humberto Carrillo ended with AJ Styles reversing Carrillo’s hurricanrana into a powerbomb. The United States Champion then placed his feet on the ropes as he picked up the 1-2-3.

#27 Brock Lesnar ‘could not leave RAW under his own power’

Almost two hours after Rey Mysterio attacked Brock Lesnar with a pipe, Jerry Lawler revealed during commentary that Mysterio did so much damage that Lesnar was unable to leave the arena under his own power.

#28 Triple Threat Tag Team match confirmed for Survivor Series

RAW Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) vs. NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed ERA (Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly) has also been confirmed as a Champion vs. Champion vs. Champion match at Survivor Series.

#29 Another Viking Raiders squash match

Many WWE fans have been critical of the way that The Viking Raiders continue to destroy unknown tag teams on a weekly basis. Well, the same thing happened this week, with the East Hampton Polo Boys suffering a quick loss at the hands of the RAW Tag Team Champions.

#30 Triple H played a key role in the main event

youtube-cover

Unlike the Adam Cole vs. Daniel Bryan match on SmackDown, which Triple H wanted Cole to win, the patriarch of NXT seemed unsure about who he wanted to win between Cole and Seth Rollins in the NXT Championship main event. He sat expressionless at ringside as he watched the match unfold.

#31 Seth Rollins defeated Adam Cole via disqualification

Adam Cole pinned Daniel Bryan without any help on SmackDown, but the same could not be said for his match against Seth Rollins. Members of The Undisputed ERA attacked Rollins to bring an end to the match, meaning Cole retained his NXT Championship.

#32 The ending set up another invasion on NXT

NXT Superstars including Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, Damian Priest, Dominik Dijakovic and Tommaso Ciampa joined in with the Undisputed ERA’s invasion of RAW at the end of the show, leading to the likes of Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Ricochet, The O.C. and Rowan getting involved. Ricochet and Lee flew over the top rope in the final minute of the broadcast, and the show ended with Jerry Lawler asking if there will be a response on Wednesday’s NXT.
