The end of December will mark the end of the decade, and a new era will begin in 2020. There is no denying that this decade has been monumental for WWE, as the company has seen massive world-wide success.
NXT, the developmental brand, was formed at the beginning of this decade, and has proven to be one of the biggest success stories in wrestling. Also, a number of new Superstars were born this decade and several past Superstars hung up their boots. It has been arguably the best decade of all time for women, as the Women's Revolution took WWE by storm, finally allowing females to main event a WrestleMania.
Just like any other division in WWE, the tag-team division has also evolved and provided fans with a number of memories over the past ten years. In this article, we will look at the four best tag teams of the decade.
#4 The Bar
Consisting of Sheamus and Cesaro, The Bar became a significant name in WWE's Tag Team Division, winning the gold multiple times. Having ruled the Tag Team Division for three years, they disbanded earlier this year, when Sheamus was ruled out due to an injury.
Although The Bar stayed together for just three years, they were always comfortably positioned at the top of the ladder and were in the title picture most of the time. The Bar won the twin belts on both RAW and SmackDown, winning the RAW Tag Team Titles four times, and the SmackDown Tag Team Titles once.
Although he hasn't seen any action yet, Sheamus recently made his return to SmackDown, and it is clear that he will compete as a singles star, even though Cesaro is also on the same brand. Sheamus, meanwhile, is a multi-time WWE Champion, and will be looking forward to attaining his past glory as a singles Superstar.
#3 The Usos
Leading the Tag Team Division for quite some time, The Usos certainly deserve a place as one of the best tag teams of the decade. The Usos made their debut at the beginning of the decade in 2010, and are still a team to look out after ten long years.
The twin brothers won the twin titles several times in WWE. They won the Tag Team Titles twice before WWE reintroduced the brand split. Getting drafted to SmackDown after the brand split, they became leaders of the Blue Brand Tag Team Division, winning the SmackDown Tag Team Titles four times, which was certainly impressive.
The Usos swapped brands this year, but have yet to get their hands on the twin Red Belts. The Usos haven't been on TV for a while, and things should intensify for the Red Brand's Tag Team Division when they do return. Whenever they come back, they could possess a serious threat to the reigning RAW Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders.
#2 The Shield
Arguably one of the most dominant stables of this era, this list would remain incomplete without The Shield. With the departure of Dean Ambrose, The Shield no longer exists, but they have left a long-lasting imprint.
Making their main roster debut in 2012, The Shield ran riot, terrorizing WWE and dismantling everyone in their path. In their first run, every Shield member held a title simultaneously. While Dean Ambrose held the United States Championship, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins captured the Tag Team Titles. Ambrose and Rollins eventually won the RAW Tag Team Titles twice.
Reigns and Rollins are two top faces in WWE today, winning multiple singles titles. While Rollins is part of the Red Brand, Reigns is a leading name of the Blue Brand.
#1 The New Day
The New Day have been one of the most popular tag teams over the past decade, and it shouldn't be surprising to see them in the number one position. Forming the faction in 2014, The New Day are still going strong, and are the reigning SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
Similar to The Shield, The New Day also have three members in Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E. With the power of positivity, the trio have conquered a number of obstacles over the past five years, winning several titles. Whether on SmackDown or RAW, The New Day have been indomitable throughout their WWE run. They won the tag team titles a record seven times, as they became RAW Tag Team Champions twice and SmackDown Tag Team Champions five times. The New Day also hold the record for the longest RAW Tag Team Championship reign, remaining champions for 483 days.
Even though Xavier Woods is currently out of action, it hasn't affected Kofi Kingston and Big E, as they beat The Revival to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles a few weeks ago. They are fighting champions, and are expected to have a noteworthy title reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
