4 Storylines that could have amused the WWE Universe in 2018

Well, it is no secret that the “E” in WWE stands for Entertainment and the company tries its best to mix wrestling with some intriguing story-lines to give the WWE Universe interesting content.

While love triangles story-lines have been somewhat extinct from the WWE since the shows turned PG, there have been several instances in the past 2 years where the Creative Team could have drawn a lot of attention with these love triangles.

There have been various love triangles namely Christian-Trish Stratus-Chris Jericho, Edge-Lita-Matt Hardy and Triple H-Stephanie McMahon-Kurt Angle which rocked the company during the Attitude Era. Here are the 4 love triangles which could have taken the company’s viewership to newer heights had the WWE Creative booked them in 2018.

#4 R Truth, Carmella and James Ellsworth

James Ellsworth is one of the key reasons for the success Carmella has today. The Chinless Wonder aligned himself with Carmella after she found him “attractive”. This alliance helped the Princess of Staten Island climb her way to the top of the women’s division. Not only did she become the first ever Ms. Money In the Bank, she won her first ever WWE title when she successfully cashed in her briefcase on Charlotte Flair.

However, Ellsworth played a key role in drawing the crowd heat towards Carmella as he was one of the annoying characters on TV and thought himself to be Carmella’s boyfriend (though Carmella never agreed). While currently the former SD Live Women’s Champion seems to be good friends with R Truth (who has not been as relevant as he is now).

The trio of Ellsworth, Carmella and Truth could have pulled off a feud which would have provided some much-needed drama and humor on WWE TV. However, WWE Creative seems to have missed this opportunity as Ellsworth is no longer a part of WWE.

#3 Finn Balor, Sasha Banks and Bayley

After all, how can the Huggable One steal her best friend's MMC partner!

Finn Balor has never been as irrelevant as he is currently on the red brand. He has neither been a part of any meaningful feud nor has been booked like a future champion who could win titles.

While this love triangle would not only give Balor some much-needed attention but it could have also served a perfect story-line to a future Sasha vs Bayley feud. With the WWE not announcing the Women’s tag titles there’s nothing the Boss “n” Hug Connection can do on RAW.

Instead, the writers could have the trio of Balor, Bayley and Banks in a love triangle with Banks trying to be extra-friendly with Bayley’s MMC partner Finn and even confessing that she faked an injury to skip MMC as she wanted to form a team with the leader of Balor Club only.

The constantly declining viewership and ratings of RAW would stop declining further as the WWE Universe would always be excited for the next chapter in this love triangle had the writers booked it.

Well, there’s almost zero chance that this love triangle storyline will materialize soon but here’s a video where Sasha expresses her likeness for Finn.

#2 Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and Enzo Amore

What were WWE's plans with these 3 superstars?

Unlike the first two story-lines, WWE Creative actually had plans for this one as Nia Jax suddenly developed a liking for the then Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore and even stood in his corner during his matches.

Alexa Bliss then tried to enter between Nia and Enzo and it seemed like this could lead us into one of the best love triangle stories in recent memory. However, Enzo Amore was released by WWE in the middle of the story-line due to some criminal allegations outside the WWE.

No one knows how far would this love triangle would have lasted. Did WWE have plans for a Nia Jax vs Alexa Bliss match at WrestleMania 34 with Enzo Amore playing a major role in the match’s fruition? With Bliss constantly coming in between the two, Enzo might seriously would have been a serious ingredient in the WrestleMania story-line.

#1 Rusev, Aiden English and Lana

One Night in Milwaukee was one of the hottest things on SmackDown Live and it drew a lot of heat towards Aiden English and could have established him as one of the vicious heels on the blue brand had WWE gone one step further. Though the story-line was a bit edgy, Aiden English lost quite comfortably to Rusev on a SmackDown episode in what was supposedly the end of the saga.

While Rusev and Lana have been a part of a poor love quadrangle storyline in the past, a love triangle drama with Aiden English would have been cancelled due to the married couple’s TMZ news (where they revealed that they are engaged) of the last feud. Maybe WWE did not have the trust on Rusev and Lana, and would have been one of the key reasons the WWE Universe did not get a love triangle.
