4 Reasons why AJ Styles mentioned NXT on Raw Reunion

Is this getting real?
Is this getting real?

In what was one hell of a reunion, WWE did put their best foot forward in keeping tabs on their current storylines whilst blending it effectively with nostalgia.

From John Cena's epic confrontation with The Usos to Bray Wyatt's sadistic attack on Mick Foley, everything was rightly placed on this week's Monday Night Raw.

Furthermore, legions of fans felt the emotion running through their veins during Stone Cold's address to the WWE Universe and his fellow peers.

Though the show did everything it could to keep us invested, it was AJ Styles' confrontation with Triple H and Shawn Michaels that stood out the most to me.

Styles, who is now working as a full-fledged heel with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows did share an interesting segment with D-Generation X and Seth Rollins.

While the fans would have loved to see a conclusion for Styles vs. Rollins, what transpired later was noticed by a select few.

The Phenomenal One mentioning NXT during this intense confrontation has the world guessing. Why did he do it? Is something genuinely in the works? Let's find out.

Here are the 4 reasons why A.J. Styles mentioned NXT on Monday Night Raw.

#1. Adding an element of realism to the confrontation

With Paul Heyman now working full-time as the Executive Director of Monday Night Raw, the Mad Scientist of Professional Wrestling is endorsing the idea of having continuity in his narrative.

There's no denying that the fans have been disappointed with the way storylines have panned out on screens, but Heyman's inclusion has ignited a bit of realism to our screens.

Considering Triple H and Shawn Michaels are pushing the envelope to create the next generation of superstars with NXT, it would be nice to see The Original Club wanting to pick a fight with the future.

Even though wrestling fans would want to see fantasy warfare come to life, Styles mentioning NXT could just have been a way to add some authenticity to the show.

#2. Planting the seeds for AJ Styles vs. Triple H at WrestleMania 36

Since we, as wrestling fans, love to anticipate the future, every single member of the WWE Universe wants to see The Phenomenal One, head into a collision course with The Game.

Having mentioned Styles as one of the greatest performers in the world, Hunter could fit the bill as AJ's next big opponent for WrestleMania 36.

A marquee match between the two does sound 'phenomenal' and Shawn Michaels' presence in the feud will only add more intensity and intrigue to it.

Though it's too early to speculate about The Show of Shows, Heyman's idea of telling long-term stories could see Styles eventually bringing the fight to The Cerebral Assassin.

This could be an interesting feud, nonetheless. If WWE decides to walk the same route as CM Punk vs. Triple H, we could have a feud of the year in our hands.

#3. Teasing The Undisputed Era vs. The Original Club for Survivor Series

Will it happen?

With Styles' already teasing a blockbuster collision with The Undisputed Era on Twitter, his confrontation with D-Generation X is only elevating the speculation of seeing these two stables slug it out in a 20 x 20 ring.

Since the Undisputed Era has been so successful in wreaking havoc under Triple H's supervision, there couldn't be a better way to introduce them to the main roster.

Colliding with The Original Club could see WWE producing some interesting television similar to The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield, back in the day.

Having worked as a member of The Bullet Club, there's definitely some history there between AJ Styles, Adam Cole, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson.

With WWE struggling to present intriguing stories to our screens, mentioning NXT on live television only suggests something 'phenomenal' is on the cards.

#4. The Original Club will make a shocking appearance in NXT

If you analyzed Styles' confrontation with D-Generation X closely, him mentioning the words - "he knows where NXT is" to Triple H only ignites the possibility of him actually showing up down there.

Though WWE's Wild Card Rule has the fans a little confused, a shocking appearance from The Original Club would only heat things up as far as long-term storytelling is concerned.

Ever since making the transition to Monday Night Raw, The Phenomenal One has been in feuds with the likes of Seth Rollins and Ricochet, guys who are widely recognized as Triple H's favorites behind the scenes.

If Paul Heyman is indeed wanting to go the distance with Styles' heel turn, him showing up at NXT and wanting to terrorize WWE's developmental system could make things even more enthralling.

Judging by the work Styles has done ever since he debuted in WWE, one can only hope to see him do something as shocking and as interesting as this.
