4 dark horses who could be WWE Champions soon and 4 who may never be

Will Balor reign supreme?
Will Balor reign supreme?

With WWE expanding to become a global phenomenon today, talent from all walks of life, who share an unending passion for this business are being provided with a golden opportunity to make a name for themselves.

Working under Triple H's supervision down in NXT quickly introduces them to the ambience of Vince McMahon's billion dollar company.

Though some of them have gone on to become extremely successful on the main roster, others have struggled to find their own footing and voice among 'The Land of Giants'.

With social media becoming such an important element in deciding WWE's creative direction, the fans are provided with a platform to voice their opinions, if any.

Amidst the Roman Reigns and the Seth Rollins' of this business, there are many Superstars who are overlooked and have not received the opportunity they rightfully deserve.

Grabbing the brass ring is immensely difficult. However, Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff's latest introduction to the creative room could bring about some ground-breaking changes.

With Heyman, who has always been an avid supporter of 'professional wrestling', his influence in the creative room could coerce the management to ascend some overlooked performers.

Since the final decision relies on Vince McMahon, we will rank the 4 dark horses who could be WWE Champion soon and 3 who may never be.

#1 Who could be - Big E Langston

This guy deserves it
This guy deserves it

As entertaining as he is doing his shtick with The New Day, one cannot deny that Big E deserves to be competing in the highest level on the main roster.

With Kofi Kingston already breaking the glass ceiling, it's about time WWE capitalizes Kofi's momentum and create a legitimate Superstar out of Big E.

The former NXT Champion has certainly enjoyed his fair share of success in the tag-team division, but with Eric Bischoff and Heyman looking to invest in new faces, Big E could eventually see gold in his future.

Though the idea of turning him heel does sound exciting, it could propel Big E to unimaginable heights and give us an iconic feud between The New Day.

#2 Who may never be - Rusev

He deserved better
He deserved better

One of the biggest reasons why Rusev failed to make the final cut was because of WWE's lack of creative direction for his incredibly successful Rusev Day.

The Bulgarian Brute was making waves on the blue brand and looked dead set to reach the brass ring during his run as a babyface.

Unfortunately, the creative had different plans in mind and the former United States Champion suffered the undeserving consequences.

Whilst I do think he could return with a bang, I do not think Vince McMahon will ever see him as a World Champion.

#3 Who could be - Ricochet

The One and Only
The One and Only

Ricochet's athleticism combined with solid backing from Triple H as well as Paul Heyman makes him the perfect dark horse to become a World Champion on the main roster.

The Mad Scientist of Professional Wrestling already sees him as a pet project and with The One and Only delivering standout performances every single week, it's only a matter of time until he fights for the biggest prize in sports entertainment.

Even though he may not have the look Vince McMahon endorses, his incredible resume and versatility make him the ideal choice of tasting gold in the main event scene.

#4 Who may never be - Ruby Riott

Will she run riot when she returns?
Will she run riot when she returns?

Anyone who is a keen observer in professional wrestling will have to admit that Ruby Riott is one of the most overlooked performers in the entire industry, let alone WWE.

Despite debuting with The Riott Squad, the creative team failed to invest in her antagonism and build her as a legitimate threat to the protagonists in the women's division.

Though there are Superstars like Becky Lynch, who stunned the entire management with her ruthless aggression, the company may never book a Superstar like Ruby Riott to take over the women's division and main-event pay-per-views with gold around her waist.

#5 Who could be - Ali

He is all heart
He is all heart

One of the greatest things about being a member of the WWE Universe is that you get to experience different characters from different backgrounds telling stories inside a 20 x 20 ring.

One such character is Mustafa Ali. The former 205 Live Superstar has already made his impression behind the scenes and could be in line for a huge push after the summer.

One cannot deny that he was already destined to clash with The New Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship until he suffered an unfortunate injury.

With Ali now determined to rewrite his own story, there's a legitimate possibility that the WWE Universe could see him headline events as our WWE Champion.

#6 Who may never be - Robert Roode

Will The Glorious One realize his ultimate dream?
Will The Glorious One realize his ultimate dream?

Despite making a name for himself under several esteemed promotions, it's disappointing to see Robert Roode being demoted to such a level on the main roster.

The man is usually seen trying his best to capture the 24/7 Championship and whilst the title has been receiving critical acclaim from the viewers, Roode certainly deserves better.

His re-introduction as Robert Roode did elevate our hopes of seeing him grab the brass ring under Vince McMahon, but the former NXT Champion got lost under the shuffle and our hopes of seeing him as the WWE Champion may never see the light of the day.

#7 Who could be - Andrade 'Cien' Almas

He is destined for greatness
He is destined for greatness

A Superstar who happens to be a personal favourite in this article is Andrade 'Cien' Almas. The Mexican sensation possesses all the credentials that could ascend him straight to the very top of this industry.

Despite a strong initial run, his current creative direction has been disappointing. Multiple speculations in 2018 linked the former NXT Champion to book his ticket to WrestleMania 35 by winning the Men's Royal Rumble.

Though the creative team has not delivered anything substantial as far as Andrade is concerned, he will definitely be a major player under Eric Bischoff's Supervision.

His incredible charisma, look, in-ring agility and background make him the perfect choice to rule the main-event scene once SmackDown Live heads to FOX Sports.

#8 Who May Never Be - Sami Zayn

This man deserves so much better
This man deserves so much better

Having been an avid supporter of Sami Zayn during his NXT run, it's heartbreaking to see the former NXT Champion being reduced to a heel who never gets the job done.

Despite his re-introduction as a heel on Monday Night Raw, Sami Zayn has failed to back his words and outshine his competition on the main roster.

With The Underdog from The Underground losing clean on a weekly basis, there's a possibility that he may never become what we expected him to become.
