4 Botches and mistakes you missed this week on Monday Night Raw (9th September 2019)

WWE's final episode of Monday Night Raw ahead of Clash of Champions was presented live from Madison Square Garden and included the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Rattlesnake was on hand to ensure that the Universal Championship match between Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins went ahead as he mediated their contract signing.

Whilst the contract was signed, AJ Styles and The O.C. still came out to protest that fact that Strowman didn't deserve to be in the main event of this weekend's pay-per-view.

Matches continued to build this week as the women took center stage in the longest match of the night, but even though tensions were building and emotions were running high ahead of the one night in WWE where all Championships are on the line, there were still a number of interesting botches and mistakes last night as part of the show.

#4 Gran Metalik's rough landing

WWE put together an interesting match last night on Raw as Rey Mysterio took on Gran Metalik for the first time on WWE TV. The King of The Ropes and The King of Mystery put on a fantastic show as they proved that the Lucha Libre style is still alive and well.

Whilst this was one of the matches of the night, there was one point in the match that looks to have made more headlines than the rest as Gran Metalik flipped over the ropes to the outside where he was looking to take out Mysterio, but he landed across his neck.

The referee was forced to come out of the ring and check on Mysterio after the botch and even though his neck was stuck at a strange angle, he was able to get back in the ring, finish the match and even win to get himself back on track after a rough run of performances.

#3 Ricochet spikes himself

Ricochet took on Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin in the semifinals of the King of the Ring tournament this week on Raw with many of the WWE Universe believing that Ricochet would be the man to come out on top over his two rivals.

Ricochet was on top for much of the match and was the man who was able to ground Samoa Joe with a 630, but Corbin took advantage of this when he threw Ricochet out of the ring and pinned the former NXT Champion.

It was the 630 that looked like one of the roughest parts of the match since Ricochet looked like he cut the move short and actually spiked himself as he landed on the side of Samoa Joe rather than across him. Interestingly, this move has been a problem for Ricochet a number of times, but this is the worst way he has ever delivered it since it genuinely looked like he injured himself more than his opponent when he was able to hit it.

Ricochet won't be part of Clash of Champions this weekend after he was knocked out of the King of the Ring Tournament so at least if he is injured, he has an extra day to recover.

#2 Stone Cold Steve Austin trips over his words

Stone Cold Steve Austin returned to WWE as part of their show live from Madison Square Garden last night and The Rattlesnake kicked off Monday Night Raw with the contract signing. Of course, an Austin return isn't complete without a trip down Memory Lane, which is where Austin was able to talk about all of the memories he has from Madison Square Garden throughout his WWE career.

It was when Austin was talking about his battles with The Undertaker and Bret Hart in The Garden that he tripped over his words since he started talking about Bret Hart once again even though it wasn't something that he meant to say.

Austin is one of the best-known wrestlers of all time and his mic ability has never come into question, but this week on Raw he seemed as though he was so excited to come back to WWE just a few weeks after The Raw Reunion that he wasn't able to get his memories in order, which is why he tripped over his words.

This isn't the last time that Steve Austin will be seen in a WWE ring in the near future and he will easily redeem himself with his next visit.

#1 The numerous botches in the women's match

Becky Lynch and Charlotte came out on top on Raw

There were two women's matches this week on Monday Night Raw, but whilst Lacey Evans and Natalya managed to keep the botches in their match to a minimum, the tag team match between the Four Horsewomen included a number of shocking botches.

The likes of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Bayley are seen as the top women in the division so it came as a shock that there were so many botches linked to Banks and Charlotte this week.

The first interesting botch this week came from Bayley when Becky attempted to throw her into the corner but she must have missed the memo and decided to do a roll instead. Charlotte later delivered a big boot to Sasha Banks that was miles away from the target but The Boss still bumped the kick.

One of the worst botches of the entire match came near the end when Charlotte delivered a moonsault to Bayley and The Queen shockingly landed on her feet and then covered Bayley in one of the worst moonsault spots that has ever been seen on WWE TV.
