Finn Balor has been one of WWE's top international talents over the past five years. Balor and his gimmick worked wonders on NXT when he was first introduced to the brand, and he convincingly held the NXT Championship for the longest time in history even though his size did not make him come across as a naturally dominating champion.

Moving to the main roster, Balor quickly became the inaugural Universal Champion and proved why he is one of the greatest Superstars the company has ever seen.

Balor recently returned to the NXT roster in order to boost the Black and Gold brand and become one of its faces, and has the entire WWE Universe and the media talking about the brand.

Last week, Balor turned heel and attacked Johnny Gargano to much surprise of the fans. He teased an alliance with The Undisputed Era but it seems unlikely that he'll be joining the villainous faction which already has a top-quality leader in Adam Cole.

Instead, WWE could move a main roster tag team to NXT to help Balor build his own heel faction and lead the entire brand.

In this article, we will look at the 4 main roster tag teams who could benefit from switching brands to NXT and aligning with Finn Balor.

#4 Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins

Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins are two men who have seen many ups and downs in their careers but still never fail to get cheers from the WWE Universe.

It’s interesting to note that the two men were the youngest tag team to collectively hold the RAW Tag Team Championship.

They won the RAW Tag Team Titles once again at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019 to the surprise of the WWE Universe. While both men have largely existed as comedic acts in WWE recently, one must not forget the great heel run they’ve had in the past.

The two men have partnered with Edge in the past to become "The Rated-R Entourage" and "The Edgeheads", and had a great run with the Hall of Famer up until 2009.

The company can use these two men to push Finn Balor further in NXT, as they have no real direction on the main roster at the moment. They can change their gimmicks once again and align with the heelish Balor to take on other Superstars and teams in NXT to once again form a lethal faction just like they had with Edge.

#3 The Colóns

Primo and Epico Colón are former one-time WWE Tag Team Champions and a winning team that was once very prominent on the main roster.

The two men lost their footing in the company a few years back and only returned for a few squash matches against teams the company tried to build to become champions.

The last big match the team received was during the Survivor Series 2018 pay-per-view where they were part of the winning 10-on-10 Survivor Series tag team elimination match as part of Team SmackDown. However, they weren’t booked to be too impressive in that clash either.

The company could try to refresh them and their gimmicks by sending them back to NXT to be of use to the both the brand and Finn Balor.

Primo & Epico could return to television on NXT as a heel team in support of Finn Balor to do the dirty work for the top Superstar.

Not only could this provide them with something to do right now, but also give them a push to work and get more fame for the years to come and once again become a competitive tag team on their own.

#2 The Ascension

The Ascension was once the most dominant tag team in the company, tearing their opponents apart in mere minutes during their run in NXT. Similar to The Viking Raiders and The Good Brothers, Konnor & Viktor effectively used their distinct fighting styles to make a great tag team who could take on anyone.

During their run in NXT, they held the NXT Tag Team Championship for a record 364 days to become the longest NXT Tag Champions in history. Their reign came to an end when Hideo Itami partnered with Finn Balor to defeat the nearly unbeatable team.

We know that Balor has worked extremely well with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in the past, and he could find a similar pairing in Konnor and Victor.

NXT is already very well-known to the two men, and their run on the main roster has been underwhelming. They could very well slip to NXT without the RAW Tag Team Division taking a hit.

Joining Finn Balor to create a heel stable would work well for all three men, as The Ascension have battled as heels for most of their career.

#1 Authors of Pain

The Authors of Pain were once the most dominant tag team in NXT. When they moved to the RAW roster, the team was paired up with Drake Maverick and fell into a mostly comedic role. The duo managed to win the RAW Tag Team Championship but lost to Bobby Roode and Chad Gable just over a month later. This allowed Akam to undergo knee surgery while the team went on a hiatus.

Now that the two men are back, they’ve been sending warnings to the entire tag team division but nothing has materialized quite yet. It could be time for the company to either give them another go in the RAW tag team division or move Akam & Rezar back to NXT.

Finn Balor has already spoken about his desire to work with the two men, and their pairing could be a lethal one for the entire NXT roster.

Balor is an expert at leading a heel pack, while AoP is a natural heel team that can benefit from Balor's leadership and fame.

Sending the Authors of Pain to NXT to work with Balor could prove to be a wise decision keeping in mind that the RAW Tag Team Championships are with the dominant Viking Raiders and it could be difficult for the company to build and protect both teams at the same time on RAW.

There are no clear heavyweight tag teams on NXT at the moment, and Balor could certainly use the services of the two men on the Black and Gold brand to claim his authority there.
