4 Mystery opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35

As this year's WrestleMania nears the calendar, The Undertaker's status for the Grandest Stage of Them All hangs in the balance.

Just recently, The Undertaker has revealed his staggering weight loss and hinted at a potential WWE comeback ahead of WrestleMania.

Last year, the Deadman squashed John Cena in an impromptu matchup at WrestleMania 34. The WWE Legend was also part of special events in Australia and Saudi Arabia.

Now that WWE's biggest annual event is only a week away (April 7, 2019), here are some potential opponents for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 35.

#4 Elias

We all know that someone is eventually going to interrupt Elias' special musical performance at WrestleMania 35.

The Undertaker is certainly one of the top names on the list of potential superstars to do so.

On top of that, Elias has been frequently using The Undertaker's signature 'Old School' move in recent months. This could be a potential hint for an Undertaker-Elias clash at WrestleMania 35.

But the question remains, are the fans interested in seeing an Undertaker vs Elias matchup in the first place? It's quite obvious that the stakes won't be as high as the Deadman's previous legendary bouts at the Grandest Stage of them All.

However, Elias is an excellent superstar when it comes to promos and segments, which means that it will be quite entertaining to see the two wrestlers lead into the match itself. If WWE does indeed opt for this route, the odds will clearly be stacked against Elias, and the Deadman is most likely to pick up an easy win.

Nevertheless, there is a particular superstar other than The Undertaker who is supposed to face a mystery opponent at WrestleMania 35, and he is the next potential candidate in this list.

#3 John Cena

We know that The Undertaker squashed John Cena in mere minutes during their highly anticipated bout last year.

Perhaps the story isn't over yet...

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about WWE's potential plans for John Cena at WrestleMania:

“He’s pretty much on the show in a match. He’s agreed to the match. I don’t know what the match is. The only thing I was told you know and it was reiterated to me this afternoon when I asked, it’s just like he’s agreed to the thing, but it’s not a — you know the scenario is done… it’s not Kurt Angle. It has nothing to do with Kurt Angle, but yeah.” H/T: RSN

The fans always wanted to witness a full-length contest between The Undertaker and John Cena last year. Maybe it is time to give the fans what they want.

Even though it is rumoured that Cena will most likely interrupt Elias at the Grandest Stage of them All, a potential full-length rematch between the leader of the Cenation and the Deadman could be best for business.

#2 Kurt Angle

There have been frequent rumours highlighting that Baron Corbin might not be Kurt Angle's farewell opponent at WrestleMania 35 at all.

As a matter of fact, these rumours suggest that Baron Corbin vs Kurt Angle may lead into an unexpected swerve at the Grandest Stage of Them All. Even though it looks as if Angle has unfinished business with Randy Orton after the latter interrupted Angle's match against AJ Styles last week, there is a chance of an even bigger possibility that could occur at WrestleMania 35.

We all know that Kurt Angle deserves a better sendoff than facing Baron Corbin as his farewell opponent. Maybe this swerve could potentially lead into The Undertaker challenging Kurt Angle in an impromptu match during the event itself.

Would you like to see The Undertaker face Kurt Angle in the latter's farewell match?

For what it's worth, anyone slightly better than Baron Corbin as Kurt Angle's farewell opponent is a step up at this point in time...

#1 Sting

The conversation surrounding a potential Sting vs The Undertaker match has always delved into fantasy.

After all, the very idea of potentially witnessing some of the most fantastical characters go head-to-head inside the squared circle in today's day and age in Professional Wrestling spawns some fantastical ideas inside one's mind.

"I mean, everyone knows who it would be. Taker, he's the only guy I'd come out of retirement for now. No one else," Sting told Wrestling Travel.

We could just never get it together to make it happen. When I started talking to WWE he was booked with Brock [Lesnar] and then I did the deal with Triple H and he had another feud going on at the time, so it was just one of those things we couldn't make happen.

We know that Sting last wrestled in 2015, and it seems unlikely that WWE would easily pass up an opportunity to indulge in a full-fledged build up between Sting and The Undertaker, as opposed to an impromptu matchup, which is what it will be if both of these superstars lock horns at WrestleMania 35.

However, if there is even a slight chance that Sting and The Undertaker could potentially face each other at this year's WrestleMania, we have to consider it nonetheless, since The Undertaker's status for the event itself hangs in the balance.

Which wrestler is most likely to face The Undertaker at this year's WrestleMania, that is, if the Deadman is scheduled to wrestle at the Grandest Stage of Them All in the first place?
