4 Predictions for Crown Jewel 2019

WWE Crown Jewel is just around the corner
WWE Crown Jewel is just around the corner

One of the most highly anticipated pay-per-views of the year, WWE Crown Jewel, is just around the corner. Scheduled for October 31st, 2019, the show will emanate from King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

WWE has already announced six high profile clashes for the event. From 'The Beast' Brock Lesnar defending his WWE Championship against Cain Velasquez to Braun Strowman taking on boxer Tyson Fury, the event boasts of a star-studded match card.

Creative has also announced a huge 10-Man Tag Team Match between Team Hogan (Captain Roman Reigns, Rusev, Ricochet, Ali, Shorty G) and Team Flair (Captain Randy Orton, King Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre). Also announced for the show is Seth Rollins vs The Fiend in a Falls Count Anywhere Match for the WWE Universal Championship. Additionally, there will be a Tag Team Turmoil Match for the WWE World Cup.

Given the match card, there is no denying the fact that Crown Jewel promises to be an epic event. With the show just around the corner, the Internet is buzzing with speculations and predictions.

To feed into this widespread curiosity, here are my 4 key predictions for Crown Jewel.

#4 Tyson Fury defeats Braun Strowman in 6-7 minutes

Expect this to be a quick bout
Expect this to be a quick bout

Tyson Fury and Braun Strowman engaged in a heated altercation at SmackDown's FOX debut after 'The Monster Among Men' taunted the boxer. This soon turned into a huge brawl at the very next episode of Monday Night RAW, resulting in WWE booking an enormous matchup between the two for Crown Jewel.

Given this was done mainly to promote 'The Gypsy King's' next boxing match against Deontay Wilder, the result of Fury vs Strowman seems like a no-brainer.

Expect Strowman to dominate the early parts of the match only for Fury to prevail over 'The Monster among Men' in the end. Also, don't get too comfortable watching. This should be a quick one. The match will likely last 6-7 minutes, since a lengthy bout could end up exposing Fury's lack of professional wrestling expertise.

#3 Cain Velasquez struggles to impress the WWE Universe

This is going to be huge
This is going to be huge

Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston in only 10 seconds to become the new WWE Champion on SmackDown's FOX debut. However, only moments later, 'The Beast' was confronted by his UFC rival, Cain Velasquez. WWE would soon announce an epic matchup between the two for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel.

Despite all the obvious hype, the outcome of this match looks quite predictable. Given the fact that WWE has been booking Brock Lesnar as the face of Friday Night SmackDown, expect 'The Beast' to successfully retain over Velasquez.

Furthermore, given how rusty Velasquez looked this week on RAW, he may have great difficulty impressing the WWE Universe on October 31st. There is no denying the fact that WWE would leave no stones unturned in getting Velasquez over as a legitimate force, however, it would not be surprising if this match fails to live up to the lofty expectation of fans. While this bout is expected to be action packed, it might lack in-ring chemistry and psychology.

#2 Team Flair prevails over Team Hogan courtesy of Ali's heel turn

Team Hogan vs Team Flair: It's on!
Team Hogan vs Team Flair: It's on!

WWE has announced a huge 10-Man Tag Team Match between Team Hogan (Captain Roman Reigns, Rusev, Ricochet, Ali, Shorty G) and Team Flair (Captain Randy Orton, King Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Drew McIntyre) for the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view.

It should be noted that after Seth Rollins was removed from Team Hogan (given his match against The Fiend), WWE announced Roman Reigns as the new captain. Randy Orton, on the other hand, will be in charge of Team Flair on October 31st. Furthermore, with Ric Flair announcing Drew McIntyre as the final member of his team this week on RAW, both teams are now complete for Crown Jewel.

While a win for Team Hogan has been highly speculated, it might not be the case come October 31st. One of the key members of Team Hogan, Ali, recently took a dig at 'Hulkamania' via Twitter.

With one simple tweet, WWE may have laid down the breadcrumbs for a potential heel turn for 'The Heart of 205 Live' at Crown Jewel. Creative could have Ali turn on his team, costing them the 10-Man Tag Team Match. Moreover, this would also add that element of surprise to what seems like a rather predictable event.

#1 Braun Strowman interferes in the Universal Title match

Strowman could show up to return the favour.
Strowman could show up to return the favour.

Seth Rollins is scheduled to defend his Universal Championship against The Fiend in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Crown Jewel.

After their previous Hell in a Cell encounter turned out to be a damp squib, WWE announced that the duo will face each other in a rematch on October 31st. However, given Wyatt is SmackDown bound now, 'The Eater of Worlds' getting his hands on the Universal Championship seems highly unlikely.

On another note, one should not forget that it hasn't been long since Wyatt attacked Braun Strowman in his match against Seth Rollins on RAW. WWE could have Strowman show up during the Universal Championship match to return the favor. 'The Monster Among Men' could go on to annihilate Wyatt, inevitably costing him the Universal Title.

This would provide an apt explanation for Wyatt's loss, but would also lay down the breadcrumbs for a high voltage Strowman vs The Fiend feud on the Blue brand.
