This past Monday night on the Red Brand's show, RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch teamed up with SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley to face the Women's Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in a Women's Champions Showcase. With Sasha Banks present ringside, it was imminent that something chaotic would happen during the match.

However, we never expected to see what we saw happen this week on RAW - the most shocking heel turn in recent memory. Just when The Man was gaining momentum against the opposing team, Sasha Banks interrupted the match to beat her down with a chair.

Bayley immediately rushed to stop Banks' assault on Lynch, but surprisingly, she herself started hitting Lynch with the chair. The WWE Universe cheered loudly when Bayley pulled the shocker.

So, in this article, we'll take a look at four reasons why Bayley turned heel this week on RAW.

#4 To reunite with Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks and Bayley were one of the first teams to form when WWE announced the Women's Tag Team division. Earlier this year, The Boss 'n' Hug Connection became the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Champions by winning an Elimination Chamber match.

However, WWE dropped the ball with them and made them lose the titles to The IIconics at WrestleMania 35. This was allegedly one of the reasons why Sasha Banks walked out of WWE for a couple of months. Not only did losing the titles all of a sudden disappoint The Boss, but WWE also broke up her tag team with Bayley.

WWE might have reunited Banks with The Hugger once again as a concession for the poor booking of the team earlier this year. It will give the company a chance to book them as a tag team in addition to their run as a singles wrestler.

#3 To bring a whole new level of unpredictability to WWE

SmackDown hasn't been able to pull in acceptable viewership for a while now. One factor which may be behind this is the lack of proper feuds in WWE. Bayley, one of the main champions on the blue brand, isn't getting worthy opponents to face. She'll be facing Charlotte Flair at Clash Of Champions, which was already seen coming by many fans

Although their booking was going down the hill post-WrestleMania, they've made a good comeback by giving authority to Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff. Recently, we saw Seth Rollins defeating Brock Lesnar for the second time this year which was not seen coming by anyone.

It's clear that WWE is trying to surprise the fans by pulling different tricks out of their sleeves. Turning a popular wrestler like Bayley heel was just one way to continue their trend of unpredictable booking in 2019. Moreover, what made it more special was that it happened all of a sudden just on a random episode of RAW.

When Bayley rushed into the ring to stop The Boss from assaulting Lynch, the WWE Universe was a little disappointed. But WWE threw a curveball at everyone and turned the SmackDown Women's Champion heel, which made everyone in the crowd ecstatic.

If WWE had not pulled the trigger on Bayley then, WWE could never turn her heel without anyone expecting it.

#2 Fresh booking options

Bayley has been the SmackDown Women's Champion since the Money In The Bank pay-per-view. However, The Hugger hasn't been involved in a classic feud so far, which is what the fans really want. While RAW has a well booked Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch feud going on for the RAW Women's title, the blue brand has got nothing interesting going on in its women's division.

The only proper feud we got to see since Bayley won the title was against Ember Moon. She faced a unique challenge when Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross stepped up to her, but the thing to note here is that WWE actually had to bring them from RAW to face Bayley.

Her heel turn has opened a wide range of options WWE can go with during her title reign. We can see some new babyfaces like Kairi Sane step up to her in the future. It will be interesting to see how WWE books her against Charlotte, now that the feud has turned into a heel vs. heel scenario. Maybe it leads to Charlotte turning face?

WWE should also change her look and theme song to enhance her character as a heel. Whatever happens, one thing is for sure, heel Bayley can be a greater star than face Bayley, if WWE books her right.

#1 To plant the seeds for a potential Bayley vs. Becky Lynch feud in the future

Bayley's unpredictable heel turn was very shocking for the fans. What was more shocking was that it came against Becky Lynch. It looks like Bayley's assault has planted the seeds for a potential rivalry between Lynch and Bayley in the near future.

WWE is booking Sasha Banks as a real threat to the women's division. Her heel character is just helping them to solidify Banks as the top woman in WWE. It looks like that she'll be the one to dethrone Becky Lynch as the RAW Women's Champion.

The Man has done it all as the RAW Women's Champion. Fans wanted her to face Ronda Rousey in a singles match sometime this year, but unfortunately, Rousey broke one of her fingers during a TV shoot (ironically, on a show for the FOX network, the upcoming new home of SmackDown) and won't be wrestling for a while.

Lynch may go after Bayley for the SmackDown Women's title after losing her own title to The Boss. Moreover, there are rumors that a draft will soon take place, so we may see Lynch moving to the blue brand once again.

With the blue brand moving to FOX in October this year, a Bayley vs. Becky Lynch feud might be a good choice to kick off their debut on the channel.
