4 reasons why Vince McMahon should have allowed Randy Orton to do more work with The Revival

Recently, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select revealed that Randy Orton had pitched an interesting idea to Vince McMahon. He wanted to make a permanent tag team with Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival. A few weeks ago, the trio was working together as a heel team but WWE split them when they drafted The Viper to Monday Night RAW, while The Revival was drafted to SmackDown.

"We're told by multiple sources that Orton pushed to do more work with them [The Revival], even going as far as pitching a faction to Vince McMahon personally. The idea fell on deaf ears and Orton and the Revival were put on different brands in the WWE draft." (Credits for the quotes)

The trio had a brief run in WWE but in that period, and they did an incredible job. However, it's a pity that they are no longer working together as a heel alliance. Here are 4 reasons why Randy Orton and The Revival should have been a permanent faction in WWE.

#4 They could have easily become tag team sensations

Randy Orton is unsuspiciously a highly talented Superstar working in WWE. The Revival, on the other hand, were one of the best tag teams in Triple H's NXT brand. They had a reputation of providing great matches there but, since joining the main roster, they haven't seen any consistent long-term success.

At one point, they were gunning for RAW Tag Team Championships but at the other, they were used in underwhelming storylines. If WWE had made Randy Orton, Scott Dawson, and Dash Wilder a permanent thing, they could have easily ruled the tag team division of WWE.

#3 The Revival could change their mind about leaving WWE

From the past few weeks, Randy Orton has been teasing to leave WWE once his contract expires. The Revival have also responded to him, and fans are confused as to why this is happening.

Earlier this year, The Revival had their release request rejected by WWE and now, new reports have stated that WWE has extended Dash Wilder's contract by 10 more weeks due to the time he spent on the sidelines in 2017.

While The Revival’s contracts are up in April, WWE has extended Daniel Wheeler’s (Dash Wilder) deal by another ten weeks due to the period he was out of action in 2016 with a broken jaw.

While this is a temporary solution to keep The Revival in WWE, things could have been different if they had aligned Randy Orton with them. This way, both parties would have been happy, since it was likely that WWE would have pushed them. However, WWE still has some time to make up for things, and we'll just have to wait to see what they will do.

#2 The trio could have dominated Monday Night RAW

As mentioned earlier, Randy Orton and The Revival as a group was a great idea since the beginning. The trio had the potential to rule WWE's weekly shows. Orton has always been a major player in tag teams and he could have led this faction to something unimaginable.

His work is highly appreciated by fans from all over the world. If Vince McMahon had accepted Orton's pitch, they would have surely been pushed as if they were unstoppable.

Previously, The Shield were doing exactly the same thing. They were pushed to the top and they destroyed almost everyone that came to their path. While WWE (probably) couldn't repeat this again, they could have at least tried to do something similar with any of the factions they have available.

Even though WWE has great tag teams on the roster (such as The Viking Raiders and The New Day), there isn't any single team that dominates on RAW or SmackDown. Imagine what could have been if a heel Orton and The Revival had been still together.

#1 WWE's Tag Team division needs star power

On SmackDown, WWE has Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns in the men's division and Charlotte in the women's division and they are the top dogs of the Blue Brand. And on RAW, they have Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins in the men's division and Becky Lynch in the women's division. However, we can't say the same for WWE's tag team division.

The tag team division needs a lot of rework and WWE needs to add more star power to it. There aren't many tag teams that are highly over among the WWE Universe. Right now, The OC and The New Day are the only tag teams that come to our mind that have a lot of star power in it. And Randy's presence in this division would've only benefitted the company.

He already has a lot of experience in working together with other Superstars, since he was in Evolution for a long time, as well as Rated RKO with Edge. Also, Orton is still a popular wrestling figure in WWE and with The Revival, he could have made the tag team division interesting again.
