3 Then vs Now WWE Dream Matches

Then. Now. Forever.
Then. Now. Forever.

WWE has changed. A lot. Gone are the juiced up behemoths who contested slow, rumbling matches. The WWE of now is a faster, sleeker one.

The 'Sports' in Sports Entertainment has attained greater emphasis today. This doesn't mean that the superstars of the bygone days were any less skilfull. Shawn Michaels, Randy Savage, etc were all wrestling savant.

While the WWE has enough talented superstars to put forth a dream match even on RAW, matches between the superstars of today and the superstars of the past is a tantalizing concept.

In this article we take a look at 3 Then vs Now WWE dream matches.

#1. AJ Styles vs Shawn Michaels

Mouth watering..

This is a match that everyone would like to see. Shawn Michaels himself has stated that he'd face Styles if he ever came out of retirement. Even Styles himself has said many times that his dream opponent is Shawn Michaels.

These two superstars are arguably the greatest wrestlers of their generations. Both are sublime in-ring performers, sell moves selflessly and are great ring generals.

AJ has had barnburners with a plethora of superstars, and so has Michaels. A clash between these two super workers would sell out any arena, and blow the roof off of it. If this combination of wrestlers doesn't guarantee a classic for the ages, I don't know what will.

#2. Seth Rollins vs Randy Savage

The Man vs The Macho Man
The Man vs The Macho Man

In the era of Hulk Hogan, the second major player was the Macho Man Randy Savage. While one of the top guys, he was never THE top guy in the company. Arguably more talented than his red and yellow clad colleague, Savage was always No. 2.

Seth Rollins finds himself in a similar position. Though this is not a knock on Reigns, Rollins is hands down the better in-ring performer. Although he may be awesome, he won't be as pushed as Roman.

These parallels would've made this a storyline dripping with reality. And it's not as if both lack charisma to pull this off. Both have been absolute revelations in the ring. So the match quality is no way in doubt.

Sadly, we can't even get a simple face-off, as the man behind the Savage gimmick passed away. RIP, Macho Man

#3. Shinsuke Nakamura vs Shawn Michaels

While there can be a huge list of dream matches concerning HBK, we include only two in this piece. Shinsuke Nakamura has had a turbulent run in the WWE. A superstar in NXT, Nakamura hasn't reached the heights many expected he would.

This all could change after a match with the Showstopper. Michael's high bumping style would mesh perfectly with Shinsuke's hard-hitting strong style.

Nakamura has shown that he has the ability to put on classics with the right opponents, and there is no one better than Shawn Micheals. This match could very well be the one that catapults the Japanese superstar to even further heights.

These are the 3 matches that I could think of. Feel free to share in the comments section below if there are any other matches you would like to see.
