SummerSlam 2018!
SummerSlam 2018!

SummerSlam 2018 came with great expectations for every match. Overall it was a great show with some really fascinating and shocking moments, as well as quick but exciting matches.

SummerSlam 2018 will be known as the show which concluded some interesting feuds and started a lot of new intriguing feuds for the future. However, there were a few mistakes WWE made at 'The Greatest Party of the Summer'.

It will be remembered for some iconic matches, and possibly as Brock Lesnar's final match in the WWE.

We will know Lesnar's future with the WWE soon and what would happen to Paul Heyman who would be out of a job if Lesnar indeed leaves the WWE for the UFC. Anyway, lets look at the 4 things that went wrong at SummerSlam 2018.

#4 The New Day won via disqualification

This match was promising but was ruined because of the finish
This match was promising but was ruined because of the finish

The match between The New Day vs The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown tag-team Championship was the second match on the main show. Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler had already entertained the crowd with a spectacular opening match.

This match surpassed the expectations of the crowd and had some really good moments. The Bludgeon Brothers started off strong and dominated Xavier Woods before Big E got the tag and changed the momentum.

There were a few near falls during the match, and when it looked like The New Day would become the new tag-team champions, Rowan attacked Big E with a hammer and got disqualified.

This wasn't a fair result for the match the fans saw. It would have made sense if The Bludgeon Brothers had won the match clean because they have been portrayed as a tag-team who have no competition in the locker room.

A clean loss would not have affected The New Day's momentum going forward, as this feud is far from over. We will definitely see a rematch soon.

#3 Elias segment

Enter capt
How did that happen?

This was a bizarre segment in the show. Elias was supposed to perform live on August 18, 2018, at Gramercy Theatre, but it was canceled, and Elias tweeted that he would get a chance to perform his 'greatest song ever' at SummerSlam in front of a live audience.

The crowd were expecting his song and later an interference from possibly Bobby Lashley. The segment started with Elias inviting everyone to 'Walk with Elias', and started talking about his recent album, calling it the greatest album of all time.

The crowd was behind him until he started insulting them, this got him a lot of heat and the moment he played his guitar, it broke. He got angry and walked off the stage.

Yes! That actually happened. No interference from Bobby Lashley or anyone else. The segment could have been much better with some interference, or at least a longer segment with Elias alone.

#2 Shinsuke Nakamura vs Jeff Hardy ending

Jeff Hardy delivering a Swanton Bomb to Shinsuke Nakamura

Jeff Hardy wanted his United States Championship back from Shinsuke Nakamura, it was captured from him at Extreme Rules. It was almost certain that Nakamura would retain the title by winning clean, or getting disqualified, or by using any dirty trick to keep the title.

The fans were also waiting for Randy Orton to come out and carry the feud between Jeff Hardy and The Viper forward. Shinsuke Nakamura won the match clean after Jeff Hardy's risky move cost him the chance to win the United States Championship.

Orton did make an entrance after the match as Jeff Hardy was laying on the mat. Surprisingly, he turned back and nothing happened. Jeff Hardy and Shinsuke Nakamura have already faced each other twice on SmackDown Live in the last two months.

The whole point of this rematch was Randy Orton getting involved somehow, but it never happened, that was disappointing.

#1 Braun Strowman vs Kevin Owens was a squash match

Braun Strowman ready to destroy Kevin Owens

The feud between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens was supposed to explode at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, the fans witnessed a squash match which ended in 1 minute and 50 seconds, with Strowman standing tall.

This match had the markings of becoming one of the best matches on the night, but it was a one-sided affair. Kevin Owens is one of the top heels in the company, he deserved a better SummerSlam match.

The best way this match would have entertained the fans was if Owens had not given up, but fought till his last breath. Owens would have garnered more respect from the fans, and it wouldn't have affected Strowman's reputation in any way as 'The Monster in the Bank'.
