5 best moments in the history of WWE Survivor Series

Professional wrestling shows are defined by their greatest moments and it's no different when it comes to WWE pay per views. Sure, everyone wants to have a "Wrestlemania Moment" but there are plenty of other important shows through the year that need great moments in order to become important in the minds of fans.

And, it's no different with WWE Survivor Series -- a pay per view that is often viewed as the redheaded stepchild of the Big Four WWE pay per views. Luckily, that reputation is a little undeserved as the show has offered up some truly spectacular moments over the course of its 30-year history.

#5 The Shield invades (Survivor Series 2012)

WWE Survivor Series 2012 bore witness to a pretty decent main event Triple Threat match between John Cena, CM Punk, and Ryback for the WWE Championship. But, what made this event awesome was that it marked the debut of one of the greatest factions in modern professional wrestling.

Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose came from out of nowhere to interfere in the main event and help The Cult of Personality retain his prized title. Looking back at what they've accomplished in the past five years, it's a truly special moment.

#4 Shawn Michaels survives the Elimination Chamber (Survivor Series 2002)

A moment for the ages

When Shawn Michaels returned to the WWE in 2002 after years away due to a back injury, nobody knew what to expect. Well, he picked up right where he left off as he got into a superb feud with Triple H. Things escalated to the point where he was included in the first ever Elimination Chamber match at WWE Survivor Series 2002.

In a hellacious match featuring Triple H, Chris Jericho, Kane, Rob Van Dam, and Booker T, no one really expected the Showstopper to walk away with the World Heavyweight Championship... until he did. And, it was glorious.

#3 Sting shocks the world (Survivor Series 2014)

Back in 2014, Sting was the last-remaining high-profile WCW wrestler to have never stepped foot inside a WWE ring. Try as they might, Vince McMahon and Co hadn't been able to convince The Stinger to come to the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

Until the main event of WWE Survivor Series 2014. During the Traditional Elimination match pitting Team Cena vs The Authority, Sting legitimately shocked the world and debuted to help Team Cena pick up the win.

#2 Goldberg squashes Lesnar (Survivor Series 2016)

When Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar was announced for WWE Survivor Series 2016, everyone expected it to be a one-time thing with Brock coming away with the win to make up for his loss to Old Man Bill back in the noughties.

But then, Goldberg squashed The Beast Incarnate in less than two minutes and the WWE Universe lost its collective mind.

Nobody expected this one. Nobody. And, that's what makes it such a great moment.

#1 The debut of a legend (Survivor Series 1990)

WWE Survivor Series 1990 marked the debut of one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling. No, not the Gobbledy Gooker but rather, a man who went by the name of The Undertaker. You might have heard of him.

While nobody could have predicted the mythical career The Deadman would go on to have, looking back at things, this is without a shadow of a doubt, the single best moment in the history of WWE Survivor Series.
