5 Best Nia Jax Matches

Nia Jax: Has courted controversy in the past week
Nia Jax: Has courted controversy in the past week

Nia Jax is a woman in the headlines right now. Unfortunately for her, it is for the wrong reasons. On this past episode of Monday Night Raw on November 12, 2018, Jax nailed Smackdown Women's Champion, Becky Lynch full force in the face with a right-hand punch.

The accidentally legitimate shot broke Lynch's nose and caused her to suffer a concussion. A bloodied Lynch was later declared to have been pulled from her heavily hyped Survivor Series clash with Raw Women's Champion, Ronda Rousey.

This caused Jax to suffer a deluge of hate online, particularly when she posted a picture of her bruised hand on Twitter and queried with tongue firmly in cheek why all the sympathy was being shown to Lynch.

That image and comment did not go down well with the WWE Universe.

For Jax, it is the latest high profile error which has caused injury to her opponents. The former Raw Women's Champion notably caused Alexa Bliss to suffer a shoulder injury during their bout at Backlash earlier this year. The same fate was suffered by Bayley prior to Summerslam 2017 when Jax accidentally dropped her causing her to suffer a shoulder injury as well.

However, the worst botches of Jax's career infamously caused Charlotte Flair a massive amount of pain back in April 2017, when on an episode of Raw, Jax attempted a Shoulder Breaker but recklessly dropped Flair's head on her right knee which severely dazed her opponent. Flair suffered a concussion and was not sufficiently protected when she performed a moonsault on Jax later in the same bout. Jax failed to properly catch her, causing Flair to smash her head full force on the floor.

Jax had appeared to put these high profile errors behind her in 2018 as she has enjoyed the biggest push of her career which incorporated a reign as champion between April and June.

For all the controversy, Jax is one of the biggest stars in the female division and has enjoyed many thrilling matches on main roster WWE. In the following slideshow, SK counts down the five best.

In quite possibly the finest Battle Royal in WWE history, Nia Jax emerged as the winner. With a future title opportunity at stake, Jax decimated the field with her brutal power moves en route to her win.

Of the 20 woman field consisting of current members of the roster and legends such as Alundra Blayze, Molly Holly and Ivory, Jax eliminated six of them including last dispatching Ember Moon. It was an impressive show of strength as Jax ruthlessly dispatched a third of the field and looked every bit the megastar as she did so.

With her victory, Jax earned a title shot. She hinted that she would likely cash that in with Ronda Rousey sooner rather than later.

At 16 minutes in length, the bout was much longer than the typical Battle Royal, meaning that the match had time to breathe and every move meant something. It was an excellent encounter on a brilliant show.

Nia Jax achieved her biggest win to date with victory in her Wrestlemania Raw Women's Championship match with the defending champion, Alexa Bliss.

Jax and Bliss had been storyline allies until Bliss began mocking her pal in secret which was ruthlessly exposed when Bliss, unknowingly still wearing her microphone after a backstage interview denigrated Jax, making fun of her size.

An enraged and tearful Jax saw Bliss for the bully she was and was incensed. Come game time at 'Mania and Jax tore through Bliss in a one-sided encounter, tossing her opponent around with big power moves before earning the pinfall victory and Women's Championship.

It was an excellent, intense and heat filled clash and had a popular result with Jax's victory.

Jax had finally reached the summit of the industry in impressive fashion.

The March 5 2018, Raw bout between Royal Rumble winner and the unbeaten, Asuka versus Nia Jax was very much a case of the irresistible force versus the immovable object.

Both women were on a roll and the pair would challenge for the two Women's Championships at Wrestlemania 34 the following month.

This bout was part of a mini-programme between the two women. Jax dominated the early exchanges with her power offence before Asuka managed to respond with leg kicks.

Jax hoisted Asuka up into a fireman’s carry into the military press drop. That looked brutal.

Jax missed a leg drop which led to Asuka attempting the cross armbar. Jax managed to get to her knees as Asuka switched to a triangle choke. Jax managed to force a powerbomb but incredibly Asuka did not release the hold. Jax tried everything she could, but not get the "Empress of Tomorrow" to release the submission. As Jax flagged and fell to he feet, Asuka switched back the armbar and forced the submission.

A thrilling end to end contest which established the pair as two of the premier female performers on the Raw brand.

In one of her most high profile outings at that point in time, Nia Jax clashed with the "Boss" Sasha Banks at Fastlane 2017.

Banks tried to use her speed early on, but Jax easily manhandled her smaller opponent, tossing her around.

Jax put Banks in the torture back as she systemically dismantled her foe. Banks used her guiled to transition to a sleeper but Jax used her strength to escape.

As the bout reached the final stretch, Jax hit a massive Spinebuster and leg drop and began rag-dolling Banks around. Just as she seemed set to finish the "Boss", Banks countered a Samoan drop into a roll up for the fluke pin. Your winner: Sasha Banks.

Although Jax lost, her performance put the world on notice that she was a talent to be reckoned with and a future Women's Champion in the making.

#1 versus Ronda Rousey - Money in the Bank 2018 (June 17, 2018)

Nia Jax's Raw Women's title reign received its biggest test when she challenged former UFC Bantamweight Champion to a title bout.

Rousey graciously accepted and the clash was signed for the Money in The Bank pay per view.

For 10 full minutes, the heavy hitters pounded each other with high impact punches and tossed each other around viciously.

The more mobile Rousey continually attempted submissions as the larger Jax escaped by overpowering her challenger.

The finish came when Rousey locked in the armbar, only for Money in the Bank contract holder, Alexa Bliss to interfere and blast Rousey earning the "Rowdy" one the DQ victory.

Jax would lose the title moments later when the opportunistic Bliss cashed in. That ended what had been a superb match and the best thus far of Jax's WWE career.
