Cody and Jungle Boy faced off in an intense main event!
Cody and Jungle Boy faced off in an intense main event!

From an intense exchange of words between Jon Moxley and Brian Cage to Cody and Jungle Boy’s bloody main event match, this week's edition of AEW Dynamite featured many contrasting moments.

This particular episode was another good addition to AEW’s collection of enjoyable shows. AEW has been consistently delivering since this year’s Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View, and last night’s Dynamite was no exception in any way.

No wrestling show can be perfect, and despite that, AEW Dynamite certainly features more good than bad in terms of content.

Here are the five biggest news stories from this week's episode of AEW Dynamite (June 3, 2020).

#5: Jon Moxley wasn’t intimidated by Brian Cage in a face-to-face confrontation

Brian Cage has been on a rampage ever since he arrived at AEW Double or Nothing 2020.

This week was no different for him, where Cage obliterated Shawn Dean and secured a victory after another vicious series of moves.

Cage might be one of the most dominant men to step inside an AEW ring, but Taz is the perfect mouthpiece for him. After the match, Taz expressed that he didn’t like Moxley’s attitude from last week’s episode, where Taz thought that the AEW World Champion didn’t take Cage seriously at all.

After a few intimidating words from Brian Cage’s advocate, Moxley made his way to the ring and didn’t mince words against his Fyter Fest opponent.

Moxley only seemed happy because Cage’s intensity meant that he would face a credible opponent at the upcoming Pay-Per-View, and as we all know, our AEW World Champion always loves a tough challenge.

However, Moxley didn’t particularly like Taz & Cage’s quest to intimidate him. He also didn’t want the client-advocate duo to waste their energy on something that won’t affect him in any way.

So far, this feud is proving to be a major turning point in Moxley’s title reign, and fans can’t wait to see what happens next.

#4: FTR think that facing The Young Bucks won't be a dream match in their book

FTR is certainly a way of life, or that might be what Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler (formerly known as The Revival in WWE) wanted to establish in a sit-down interview on AEW Dynamite this week.

When Tony Schiavone brought up AEW’s amazing tag team division during the conversation, Harwood & Wheeler said they were looking forward to facing some of AEW’s best tag teams inside the ring. Out of all the teams mentioned, FTR didn’t bring up their most obvious rivals, The Young Bucks.

But they had to address The Young Bucks eventually, and despite what many may think, Harwood & Wheeler believe that The Young Bucks are just an overhyped duo, and that is why a Young Bucks vs. FTR bout is not a dream match in the latter team’s book.

In the middle of this interview, Blade & the Butcher came down the stairs to beat up FTR, since Harwood & Wheeler did the same to them upon their arrival in AEW.

But Harwood & Wheeler see themselves as businessmen, and they agreed to settle it in the ring against Butcher & Blade on next week’s AEW Dynamite.

#3: Britt Baker proved to be a source of entertainment amongst the AEW Women’s Division this week

Britt Baker didn’t even have five minutes of screen-time on this week’s AEW Dynamite, but she managed to stand apart from the rest of her peers once again.

AEW aired a remarkable montage that focused on Baker’s rehabilitation process. She was also seated in a huge chariot amongst other Superstars, and it would all pay off later in the night.

Nyla Rose defeated Big Swole in a singles match, as expected. After the match, Tony Schiavone caught up with Big Swole in a short ringside interview, where Swole said she felt good to be back, despite the loss.

In the middle of it, Baker almost ran over Swole with her fabulous chariot if it wasn’t for the barricade. She ordered her assistant to immediately reverse when Swole realized what might have happened.

This was a clever and entertaining way to set up a future match between the two. Baker’s arc for the night also proved that little things matter a lot in AEW. She might not have received a lot of TV time this week, but Baker made the most of what she was given to work with.

#2: Orange Cassidy confronted Chris Jericho as the “baddest man on the planet”

The leader of The Inner Circle faced Colt Cabana in singles competition on this week’s AEW Dynamite.

Although this particular bout had an obvious result, the pre-match and post-match events were quite entertaining. Sammy Guevara delivered a “flawless” vocal performance by butchering Chris Jericho’s theme song during Le Champion’s entrance.

Jericho defeated Cabana with a Judas Effect, and he went on to call out Mike Tyson after what happened during their newsworthy encounter on last week’s AEW Dynamite.

Jericho put special emphasis on calling out the “baddest man on the planet”, and ironically, Orange Cassidy answered the call.

Cassidy managed to escape Jericho and Hager’s wrath despite playing around with them in trademark fashion. If Le Champion is pitted against one of the most entertaining AEW characters at Fyter Fest, fans might be in for a silly showdown between Jericho and Cassidy.

This may also prove to be an unusual pit-stop for AEW fans as Jericho seems to be on a collision course to face “Iron” Mike Tyson in the future.

#1: Cody successfully defended his TNT title in a bloody match with Jungle Boy

The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the TNT title being defended for the first time on television.

Jungle Boy had secured his unique opportunity after winning a Battle Royal in the previous week. He will go down in AEW history as the first in line to challenge Cody’s title reign as the latter opened the gates for weekly open challenges.

This was certainly an intense match for two babyfaces. Cody became a bloody mess when he missed Jungle Boy and head-butted the wall. Both of them also crashed through a table, and you know a match is good when other wrestlers are genuinely engaged throughout the bout.

Cody showed ample sportsmanship with Jungle Boy after the match was over, and it was certainly a great way to end this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Cody vs. Jungle Boy was meant to be intense to set a good standard for the future, and it also helps in drawing more viewers as Cody defends his TNT title against Private Party’s Marq Quen on next week’s AEW Dynamite.
