Sasha Banks and Asuka took part in a mixed tag team main event!
Sasha Banks and Asuka took part in a mixed tag team main event!

From The Big Show obliterating Zelina Vega's associates to a mixed tag team main event that featured Drew McIntyre and Asuka on the same side, this week's edition of WWE RAW featured many contrasting moments.

The show has a different feel to it since Bruce Prichard took over Monday Night RAW's creative control, but this particular episode was a standard affair that you would expect from the Red Brand these days.

With Extreme Rules: The Horror Show looming in the distance, WWE RAW built a specific creative direction towards that Pay-Per-View this week.

Let us know what you thought about this particular episode in the comments section below.

Here are the five biggest news stories from this week's episode of WWE RAW (June 29, 2020).

#5 R-Truth became the new 24/7 Champion once again

Back when it was first introduced, WWE's 24/7 title was received as a joke by the company's fanbase. But Superstars like R-Truth and Drake Maverick would later prove that 24/7 title segments stole the show at one point in time.

However, as of this moment, the title has fallen down the ranks to a point where no one would complain if the title were to become non-existent.

Akira Tozawa failed to defend his 24/7 title in a singles match with R-Truth, but this championship always works better outside the confines of in-ring competition. Tozawa's ninja gimmick is still entertaining to a certain extent, but R-Truth winning the same title repeatedly has become an overused angle at the moment.

One would think that the current situation should enable WWE to create more creative skits that revolve around the 24/7 title, but they haven't capitalized on this opportunity as of yet.

Moreover, the fact that most Superstars have stopped chasing the 24/7 Champion shows how little concern there is to make this title relevant again.

#4 Ric Flair had some advice for The Big Show as Zelina Vega's two-man crew barely managed to stay united

Ric Flair has personally taken over as Randy Orton's mentor and he helped The Viper to decimate Christian on the RAW after WWE Backlash.

Even this week, The Nature Boy acted as a liaison and conveyed what Randy Orton will do to The Big Show next. There is mutual respect between all parties here, but The Legend Killer won't hesitate to end Big Show's WWE career when the opportunity comes up.

Meanwhile, Andrade and Angel Garza wanted some respect after The Big Show stole their time slot on WWE RAW. Throughout the night, both tag team partners were on the brink of falling out with each other, and Zelina Vega managed to bring them on the same page every time that happened.

However, those issues cost them a handicap match against Big Show later on in the night. Aside from Randy Orton and Big Show's feud, Andrade and Garza's issues seem to be an interesting plot thread on WWE RAW.

Their issues might also factor into a future tag team titles match against The Street Profits.

#3 Aleister Black saved Humberto Carrillo from losing an eye at the hands of Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio's feud continues to be one of the most defining, yet standard aspects of WWE RAW.

Aleister Black and Humberto Carrillo have been reduced to the roles of one-note babyfaces who want to defend the honor of a WWE veteran. However, they failed to defeat Rollins & Murphy together on this week's edition of WWE RAW.

After the match, Rollins tried and failed to take out Humberto's eye. However, the Mexican WWE star paid the price with the Monday Night Messiah stomping his head on the steel steps.

Seth Rollins' promos are very basic on the surface, and the subtext remains unclear as well. At this point, the "greater good" act of his has become rather repetitive on WWE TV.

The tag team match on this week's episode was good, but at the end of the day, Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins have to face each other in order to bring this storyline to a conclusion.

#2 MVP won his first singles match on WWE RAW since 2010 against the US Champion Apollo Crews

The WWE career of Apollo Crews finally picked up the pace after he became the United States Champion, and Bobby Lashley might just put it all to an end as quickly as possible.

MVP has wanted to recruit Crews for a while, and in order to teach him a lesson, MVP decided to face the US Champion in a non-title match on this week's edition of WWE RAW.

Surprisingly, MVP emerged as the victor here, which is a huge moment for the veteran if you put the title of this slide for consideration. Yes, Lashley helped his manager win through a small distraction, but this loss puts Apollo Crews' title reign in jeopardy.

Lashley destroyed the United States Champion after the match, and he even put down Ricochet in a singles bout as Cedric Alexander met the same fate a few moments later.

You have to think that Lashley may be too strong for Apollo Crews here. Not only has he returned to form recently, but The All Mighty equally matched Drew McIntyre at WWE Backlash in what was a very close affair.

Although nothing has been made official yet, Crews might be in serious trouble if Lashley comes after his title at Extreme Rules.

#1 Dolph Ziggler and Sasha Banks defeated Drew McIntyre and Asuka in a mixed tag team main Event

This was the biggest development over the course of last night's episode of WWE RAW. A double contract signing at the beginning of the show turned into a volatile situation, and the only solution was for the champions (Drew McIntyre and Asuka) to take on the challengers (Dolph Ziggler and Sasha Banks) during the main event.

Bayley joined WWE RAW's commentary team for this match, and anyone who has been following SmackDown recently knows that both her and Sasha Banks have incredible chemistry alongside the Blue brand's broadcast personalities.

Throughout this bout, it was obvious that Dolph Ziggler is mismatched to challenge Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules. It feels like both Lashley and McIntyre have been relegated to face lesser competitors instead of having an obvious WWE title rematch against one another.

It was Sasha Banks that picked up an impromptu victory for her team, and this co-joint approach to storytelling was a great way for WWE to build up two top feuds through the same segments.
