WWE SmackDown ended on a bad note for Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

There is indeed a huge difference in quality between WWE RAW and SmackDown these days. The Blue brand has been consistent with its shows lately, and this week's episode ended up being an excellent watch as well.

While the Roman Reigns saga always ends up being SmackDown's biggest creative success, other storylines stepped up in terms of quality during the episode.

Which show was better this week, WWE SmackDown or AEW Dynamite? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Here are the five biggest news stories from WWE SmackDown (June 11, 2021).

#5 Roman Reigns to face Rey Mysterio at WWE Hell in a Cell?

While it hasn't been confirmed yet, this week's WWE SmackDown ended with a teaser for a Hell in a Cell match between Rey Mysterio and Roman Reigns. The two superstars haven't faced each other in a singles match throughout their careers, so one could say that it's a dream match waiting to happen.

Reigns assaulted Rey's son, Dominik Mysterio, on last week's show. Being a dedicated father, Rey Mysterio couldn't let go of what Reigns did to his family. As a result, the legendary luchador's conflict led to a confrontation between him and The Tribal Chief at the end of the episode.

Both of them put on a solid segment, one that introduced some intriguing plot points for the future. Rey Mysterio acknowledged that he was willing to fight Reigns inside Hell in a Cell, even if he lost that fight.

But the main motive for him isn't to chase after the Universal Championship or prove who among them is the better competitor. Instead, Rey Mysterio only wants to avenge his son by going head-to-head against Roman Reigns.

Reigns couldn't accept the challenge, as a brawl immediately broke out between him and The Mysterios. The Universal Champion eventually stood tall at the end of the show. However, it's likely the father-and-son duo won't hold back against The Tribal Chief next week.

Meanwhile, the Anoa'i family conflict developed in a series of well-acted segments this week. Jey Uso reached his breaking point and couldn't pick a side between his twin brother, Jimmy, and his cousin, Reigns.

The Roman Reigns saga has once again taken an intriguing turn, simultaneously creating a lot of hype for SmackDown's go-home episode before Hell in a Cell.

#4 Stipulation match announced for WWE SmackDown's King Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura

King Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura's WWE feud (featuring Rick Boogs) has been an entertaining part of SmackDown lately. This week, Corbin and Nakamura fought in another singles match, which ended with the latter emerging as the winner.

After the match, King Corbin once again failed in his efforts to recapture his crown. Frustrated with the duo of Boogs and Nakamura, the self-proclaimed king approached Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce to seek a resolution. Pearce announced a "Battle for the Crown" match between Nakamura and Corbin for next week's episode, as both of them hold two victories over each other at the moment.

Who do you think should walk out as the rightful owner of the crown several days from now?

#3 Commander Azeez's WWE SmackDown match revealed

Commander Azeez has served as a useful bodyguard for Apollo Crews in WWE, and now, he is set to fight alongside the Intercontinental Champion on SmackDown.

This week, Kevin Owens and Big E defeated Crews and Sami Zayn in tag team action. After the match, Crews claimed that Owens and Big E didn't defeat him, as only Zayn was successfully pinned.

In the next episode, Kevin Owens and Big E will fight Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez in a tag team match. While the 6ft 9in tall bodyguard has previously wrestled under different names like Dabba-Kato and Babatunde, he will be making his in-ring debut as Commander Azeez this time around.

Meanwhile, it's good to see that Big E is back in the Intercontinental title picture after his feud with Aleister Black was recently scrapped.

#2 Otis debuted his new look on WWE SmackDown

Otis doesn't have a beard anymore, and everyone is talking about it on social media following this week's WWE SmackDown.

Alpha Academy's Chad Gable fought The Street Profits' Montez Ford in a one-on-one match this week. During the bout, Gable's ally, Otis, ambushed Angelo Dawkins backstage. After wiping out Dawkins, the former Heavy Machinery star unleashed an attack on Ford inside the squared circle, and the match ended via disqualification as a result.

While Otis may have arrived a little late to the ring, the inclusion of WWE officials breaking up the one-sided brawl made The Street Profits and Alpha Academy's feud look like a big deal. The fact that SmackDown now has a decent non-title tag team storyline seems like good progress to a certain extent.

#1 Seth Rollins and Bayley's laughathon got interrupted on WWE SmackDown

Bayley and Seth Rollins have lately stuck out as two similar types of antagonists on WWE SmackDown. So it was a bizarre experience to see Rollins being featured in the same segment as Bayley this week.

During a special edition of “Ding Dong, Hello!”, The Messiah and The Role Model poked fun at each other's current rivals, along with frequent bouts of laughter in between.

Unfortunately for Rollins, the fun ended when Cesaro entered the frame and attacked him, trashing the “Ding Dong, Hello!” set in the process. Meanwhile, Bayley witnessed the destruction of her set unfold as SmackDown Women's Champion Bianca Belair appeared on the ramp.

Belair literally got the last laugh by, you guessed it, laughing in front of Bayley. In a nutshell, WWE booked a segment about superstars bursting into bouts of laughter without clearly expressing the joke, and it was still an entertaining affair.
