While the WWE Women's Revolution is in full swing these days, that wasn't always the case. Women in the professional wrestling industry weren't valued for their in-ring skills but rather for their looks. And, while these old ways are changing, they haven't changed completely yet.

That's why you can have male professional wrestlers enter the industry with their first jobs while the women are forced into other avenues before they can impress enough to get a shot in wrestling.

Some of the younger talent on the WWE roster today like Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley, have started their professional lives in wrestling and haven't had to take the long way round. But, a large number of women on the roster were actually working in different jobs before they were able to make their WWE dreams come true. Today, we're here to celebrate these women.

So, without any further ado, here is our list of five current WWE women superstars and their first job:

#5 Dana Brooke - Gymnast, Bodybuilder

There's a reason for those impressive muscles
There's a reason for those impressive muscles

Dana Brooke looks quite green on the WWE's main roster and that's because she hasn't had all that long to get used to the business of professional wrestling and was probably sent too far into deep waters much too soon.

Given that she only signed with NXT 2013 and had no experience in professional wrestling before that, she's done really well for herself since getting into the industry.

Before wrestling, she used to be a gymnast but various injuries including dual ankle breaks forced her to give up that career. She then went on into fitness and body building and participated in various international body building competitions and made a real name for herself, before making the switch over to professional wrestling and the WWE's developmental program.

Hopefully, with a little more time and effort, we can see the very best of Dana Brooke.

#4 Carmella and Naomi - Cheerleaders

While Carmella and Naomi didn't know each other before crossing paths in the WWE, they do share a similar background in terms of what they used to do before getting into the business: They were both initially cheerleaders.

Former WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion, Naomi, was the cheerleader for her hometown team, The Orlando Magic, while Carmella got herself a gig with American football giants, The New England Patriots.

While Naomi moved onto being a backup dancer for rapper Flo Rida, Carmella moved over to basketball, becoming a Laker Girl for the Los Angeles Lakers. Eventually, both women found their calling in professional wrestling and made the move over the WWE.

#3 Nikki Bella - Waitress

She wasn't always on top of the world
She wasn't always on top of the world

While Nikki Bella is today one of the most powerful women in the WWE due to her reality TV shows on the WWE Network as well as her status as the partner of John Cena, she was once just another girl looking to make it in show business. Before her days of glitz and glamour, she was a struggling model and actress.

She worked as a waitress along with her twin sister, Brie Bella, in order to make ends meet while looking for an agent who could help them on their quest to become famous.

While she did land a few odd acting and modelling gigs, it didn't really make a difference until she made it to the WWE. And since then, she's done quite well for herself since the days of waiting tables.

#2 Charlotte Flair

Wrestling was Charlotte's natural calling
Wrestling was Charlotte's natural calling

Charlotte Flair looks so natural in the ring that you can't imagine her as anything other than a professional wrestler. Add to the fact that her father is the legendary Nature Boy, Ric Flair, and you really do wonder why she had other pursuits before deciding to come into the family business, so to speak.

But, take her time she did, and she spent that time in college, earning a degree as well as a certification to become a physical therapist. And, that's exactly what she did with her life -- she became a physical therapist.

But soon, she was bitten by the professional wrestling bug and followed in her father's footsteps to enter the business, signing a developmental contract with NXT.

#1 Alexa Bliss

She has become an absolute star

Alexa Bliss's life has been all about overcoming the odds and making an impact in an area where she had no right to be. When she came into the WWE, she was overlooked; when she was called up the main roster, she was overlooked. But, Little Miss Bliss decided that enough was enough.

She used her raw talent and incredible mic skills to get herself over the crowd and proceeded to become the first ever WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion and WWE Raw Women's Champion in the history of the company.

But, this is after she joined the business. She almost never made it into the business having had a severe eating disorder during her teenage years. In fact, her mother and her both openly revealed that there was a point where they feared Bliss would die. Bliss turned to bodybuilding in order to combat the disorder and found much success -- both personally and professionally.

From there, it was a short hop, skip, and a jump over to the glamorous world of professional wrestling.
