5 dream matches that might never happen

WWE has given us so much to cheer about over the years. From the ever-entertaining Royal Rumbles to the brutal structure of the elimination chamber, the innovative approach of WWE is commendable.

The greatest thing about WWE is how they deliver what a fan wants, how they book superstars and how they emphasise on what fans love to see. Over the years, the WWE universe has been fortunate to witness some of the unforgettable moments. Some of those moments were watching dream matches that came true, some high-octane stunts, some mind-boggling returns and the list goes on and on.

Talking about dream matches, there have been some gigantic clashes that we rarely thought to happen in reality. Clashes that we only thought were possible in video games but Vince McMahon who is a bona fide legend never fails to mesmerise us.

From Shawm Michaels’s career-threatening match against the Undertaker at Wrestle Mania to John Cena's monumental single encounter against the Rock, dream matches are special owing to the fact that these matches were always what WWE universe wished for.

When dream matches are being talked about, there are a few bouts that will be considered under the aforementioned bracket but might never take place in reality. Here we present 5 dream clashes that might never happen in WWE

#5 Brock Lesnar vs Batista

There have been few men as dominant as Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate has demolished everyone in his path and there have been many one-way tickets to Suplex City over the years. While Brock Lesnar’s dominant display has fascinated WWE universe, there once used to be a powerhouse, an animal who unleashed on every opponent, displacing them with ease and his name is none other than Batista.

WWE missed out big time by not letting Batista and Brock go head to head inside the squared circle. The beast vs. the animal is surely WrestleMania’s main event material and would've blown the roof off.

WWE did tease with this idea upon Batista's return in 2013 however with Daniel Bryan being the hot favourite in those days, all other plans were put to bed.

But with Batista now focussed on Hollywood and Brock being UFC bound, it seems this tie will just be a dream.

#4 Shawn Michaels vs A.J. Styles

There have been many great in-ring performers for the WWE and then there was Shawn Michaels. The heartbreak kid is probably the greatest in-ring performer of all time. Michaels had a storied career and gave out everything in the ring.

Mr WrestleMania would’ve possibly competed in the greatest match of all time had WWE brought in A.J. Styles 10 years back. 2 absolute legends who turned impressive matches on a weekly basis, Shawn Michaels and A.J. Styles are possibly are the 2 of the best performers of all time. What makes these 2 legends standout is their ability to pull out memorable encounters with almost anybody.

As dreamy as this encounter might seem, it possibly will never happen as Shawn Michaels is way past his best and is possibly coming out of retirement just for one bout at Crown Jewel. A shame that we'll never witness these 2 exuberant performers go head to head but had things been as we wish for then Mr WrestleMania vs. The Phenomenal one would be a once in a lifetime match up.

#3 Goldberg vs John Cena

Every WWE fan would love to see this match
Every WWE fan would love to see this match

Two megastars, two legends of their respective eras, two gigantic names and one bout, what a story this could’ve been! John Cena and Goldberg are two of the biggest superstars to ever step foot inside a WWE ring and it’s a disgrace that we never got to see these legends collide in a WWE ring.

Where Goldberg’s brute strength proved to be his weapon of destruction, Cena relied on his sheer willpower and connection with the WWE universe. This would've surely been a battle of faces as both Goldberg and Cena have been fan favourites for most parts of their respective careers.

But with Goldberg possibly done with the WWE and Cena in the latter stages of his career where he now performs on just major PPVs, this match might never happen.

#2 CM Punk vs Samoa Joe

CM Punk and Samoa Joe belong to a rare breed of superstars who with all their in-ring attributes, their great wrestling skills and dynamic personalities, are great on the mic as well. What could’ve been a battle between the best in the world and the destroyer, as both the superstars possess iconic personalities and are terrific in-ring performers as well!

Where Punk is a great striker, someone who takes the fight to his opponent, Joe, on the other hand, is a submission expert who loves to choke his opponents. Punk is fast whereas Joe is strong, Punk loves to play with his opponents while Joe likes to destroy them. With contrasting wrestling style, this match surely would've been a delight for WWE universe.

CM Punk did try his luck with UFC but it seems his days in the MMA world are done for good and the superstar from Chicago will look for someplace else but WWE. Punk and WWE have developed an acrimonious relation and it doesn't look like he'll be returning anytime.

This match does seem mouth-watering but it might never happen.

#1 Sting vs The Undertaker

If WWE and WCW ever went to war for supremacy, two companies with everything on the line, all or nothing over one match, one single match to decide the fate of these gigantic organisations then there is only one bout that comes up to our mind- Sting vs. the Undertaker.

Two legends who deserve the utmost respect in the field of sports entertainment, Sting and Taker have done it all. From winning world titles to defeating the top names in the company, both megastars have been at the end of every great accomplishment.

The only thing missing from their respective CV’s is a one on one match against each other.

Sting and the deadman are two pole-bearers of WCW and WWE respectively and when Sting came to WWE, it was highly anticipated that the former TNA superstar will battle the Undertaker at Wrestle Mania 31.

Instead, WWE booked Sting in a memorable battle against the game, Triple H. While the two legends gave the fans a value for money show, Taker vs. Sting would've been a different spectacle.
