There are many facts about John Cena that not even his biggest fans know

John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and someone whose personal life has been a hot topic of conversation following his split from former Divas Champion Nikki Bella last year. Cena is now seen as a part-time star in WWE and only returns to the ring a number of times a year when needed by the company.

Outside of WWE, Cena has made quite the career for himself as an actor and TV presenter, which could be why he is now rarely available for WWE appearances. Despite the fact that Cena has been at the main event level of WWE for more than 15 years, the former World Champion tries to be as private as possible outside of the ring.

This could be why there are a number of facts relating to John Cena that have seemingly been lost amongst the shuffle but are fact that every Cena fan need to know.

John Cena has had an impressive career in the ring over the past decade and a half and it's obvious that one of the reasons for this is because of his knowledge of the human body and his ability to heal much quicker than doctors expect.

In an interview with Mens Fitness a few years ago, Cena revealed that his secret was the fact that he had a degree in Exercise Physiology which he obtained from Springfield College in Massachusetts. He went on to state that his degree was something that helped him throughout his wrestling career when it came to choosing the right workouts and overcoming injuries as well as listening to his body and knowing when he was overdoing it.

Throughout their feud back in 2015, it became clear that Kevin Owens' son who's also called Owen is a huge fan of John Cena.

Back in 2016, Kevin Owens was on the Talk is Jericho podcast where he revealed that there was a time when he was on the Indys and he took his son to watch a WWE show because he was such a big fan. He was at ringside and he wanted his son to get the chance to meet John Cena after the match, but he just left which upset Owen.

When Owens told Cena about it a few years later he apologized and wrote his son a two-page letter explaining how sorry he was for not shaking his hand.

"I was telling John once when we were preparing a promo, I was saying like 'you know, if you want to make it a little personal, I could talk about this one time WWE had a show at the Bell Centre [in Montreal] and I took my son. I was second row and everybody there knew 'that's Kevin Steen, he's a professional wrestler, but look at him in the second row of the WWE show with his son. I bet he wishes he was in the ring, you know?'
But I put that aside because I just wanted my son to be able to shake John Cena's hand, and when your match ended I rushed the guardrail with my son just like any other fan would, and instead of coming around the ring and shaking hands, you just left, you went to the back and my son was crushed.
And John was like 'oh my God, I'm so sorry.' No, it's fine, he was fine a minute later... I'm just saying, do you want to talk about this [in the promo]? He said 'maybe we keep this for later, but I feel terrible, please tell Owen I'm sorry.'
And the letter was John basically apologizing for that" he said via Sportskeeda.

John Cena's steel-like grip on the main event of WWE lasted for almost two decades, which means that he has been able to battle some of the biggest stars to come through the company in the past. Cena has got himself a reputation where many fans believed that he was holding other wrestlers down and stopping many from reaching their potential because of the story regarding Alex Riley, but this isn't the case.

John Cena has made history in some unfortunate ways over the years, and one of them would be the fact that he has been in the most Champion vs Champion matches with three, and he has lost all of them.

The first one came against one of his best-known rivals in Randy Orton back at TLC in 2013, when Orton was able to unify the WWE and World Championships with his victory. Kevin Owens took on Cena in another Champion vs Champion match at Elimination Chamber back in 2015, where it was Owens who was the shock victor.

Interestingly, the final one came merely months later at SummerSlam in 2015 when Seth Rollins put his World Championship on the line and Cena put his United States Championship on the line, but it was Rollins who came out with both.

Despite being a man who can handle himself in a fight against someone much bigger, it appears that John Cena's biggest fear is definitely an interesting one. Like much of the population of the world, Cena is an arachnophobe, which means that his biggest fear is of spiders.

This became quite apparent back at WrestleMania 30 when Cena took on Bray Wyatt and he attempted to perform his well-known spider walk and Cena was absolutely terrified.

Many wrestlers have strange phobia's, with The Undertaker's being seen as the strangest one because of his phobia of cucumbers, something that he has never fully explained himself. The only reason The Undertaker's phobia came to light was because Paul Bearer shared it with the world, and not the Deadman himself.

There are some moves in WWE that are banned. The company has banned many different moves over the years including the piledriver, since The Undertaker and Kane are the only stars who are able to perform the move as part of the show.

Despite being two of the company's biggest stars, John Cena and CM Punk decided to put a piledriver in their match back in 2013 and were forced to pay handsomely for it. Punk was the one who delivered the move to Cena on Raw and there were then rumors that Vince McMahon was furious about it backstage since it was a dangerous move and Cena was injured at the time.

Punk later confirmed that he was in trouble following the move when he was asked as part of an ESPN interview.

“I sure did… It has a bad history of injuries and accidents, so it’s better safe than sorry. It’s really sort of not worth it, but I wanted to show that I was really trying to win that damn match.”
