5 Fallouts from WWE Stomping Grounds 2019

Stomping Grounds, WWE's newest PPV, was not as bad as many expected it to be. While ticket sales and the overall enthusiasm for the show was very low, WWE put on an interesting show, which had title changes, new feuds teased, and a good end to the show.

Drew Gulak won his first title in the WWE when he defeated Tony Nese and Akira Tozawa to win the Cruiserweight title, while Ricochet won his first title on the main roster when he defeated Samoa Joe.

We also saw a few new feuds and potential matches for next month's Extreme Rules PPV that were teased at the show.

Let's take a look at 5 fallouts from WWE Stomping Grounds 2019:

#5 AJ Styles to feud with Ricochet

In the latest WWE NEWS, Ricochet faced off against Samoa Joe for the United States title at Stomping Grounds and won the match, winning his first title on the main roster, since debuting for the red brand earlier this year.

Ricochet has had some memorable matches since being called up to the main roster and has perhaps been the best call-up from NXT in the last year or so.

Following the match, Ricochet was being photographed with his new title, when The Club, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, wanted to get in the picture too, before AJ Styles also made his way into the frame, and told him he will see him tomorrow on RAW.

This probably signals a feud between the two, and heel turn for Styles, in what will be an exciting feud between two phenomenal performers.

#4 Daniel Bryan turns babyface soon

At Stomping Grounds 2019, we saw something unusual - we saw a heel getting cheers, massive cheers, from the WWE crowd.

In the match between the SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan & Rowan and contenders Heavy Machinery, we heard applause and chants for Bryan which was uncharacteristic of the WWE Universe.

The chants were most likely a result of the venue and place where Stomping Grounds was held at, Tacoma, Washington, which also happens to be the home state of Daniel Bryan. But WWE will be buoyed by the response that Bryan got, in a time when WWE's ratings and viewership have been very low.

WWE could maybe eventually make Bryan a babyface once again as he is being wasted as a heel and more so as a tag team wrestler.

#3 Alexa Bliss to turn on Nikki Cross

Alexa Bliss' booking over the last couple of weeks on WWE television has been rather confusing. One day she's a babyface while partnering with Nikki Cross, and then she turns heel when feuding with Bayley.

The match between Bayley and Bliss at Stomping Grounds for the SmackDown Women's title should not have even happened. Bliss is a RAW Superstar, and despite the Wildcard rule, this does not make sense.

Bliss lost the match against Bayley and missed out on the opportunity to become three-time SmackDown Women's champion, thanks mainly to her protege Nikki Cross' interference. Cross tried to help Bliss but, in fact, cost her the title.

We could maybe see Bliss become an all-out heel and destroy Cross, before maybe challenging Becky Lynch - who also retained her RAW Women's title earlier in the night - for the red brand's women's title.

#2 Kevin Owens re-enters feud with Kofi Kingston

The New Day had a mixed night at Stomping Grounds. While Big E and Xavier Woods lost to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a tag team match, Kofi Kingston won the penultimate match of the night when he defeated Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship.

It is most likely that the feud between Ziggler and Kingston for the WWE Championship is possibly over, following two PPV matches, both of which Ziggler lost.

And it now seems that the feud between The New Day and the team of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will continue, and possibly see Owens challenge Kingston for the WWE Championship once again.

Both have history, having recently feuded for the title, and Owens could possibly be the one who takes Kofi's WWE title which he won at WrestleMania 35.

#1 Potential mixed tag team feud

Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins

The final match of the night was for the Universal title where Baron Corbin got another opportunity at Seth Rollins' belt. And the odds were stacked against the Universal Champion after Corbin announced that Lacey Evans was to be the special guest referee of the match.

Evans had faced Rollins' girlfriend and RAW Women's champion, Becky Lynch, and had lost the match, which meant that Evans had some animosity against Rollins. Evans did everything in her powers - slow counts, changing the match to no count-outs and then no disqualification, and it seemed like Corbin would steal one.

But Becky Lynch came to the rescue of Rollins, and after another referee was sent in to officiate the match, Rollins won the match and retained his title.

This feud could possibly set up a mixed tag team match for the next PPV, Extreme Rules.
