The build-up to Clash of Champions is now underway and WWE has brought back one of their most historic competitions ahead of the show - King of the Ring. Over the years the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Booker T, and Bret Hart have all won the distinct right to call themselves the King of the Ring in WWE.

This year the finals of the competition will take place at Clash of Champions on September 15th, but ahead of the event, there will be a number of matches taking place on a weekly basis as the tournament builds.

There are also a number of other storylines taking place on Monday Night Raw at present since Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman are feuding over the Universal Championship as well as the new Raw Tag Team Champions and Sasha Banks has made her official return to WWE and seems to be ripping her way through the Women's Division.

Despite the creativity on display in WWE at present, there were still a number of botches this week on Raw, that eagle-eyed fans may have picked up on.

#5 Dolph Ziggler's Famouser

Dolph Ziggler and Roman Reigns kicked off this week's episode of Monday Night Raw in what was one of the highlights of the show. Ziggler's new character seems to be pushing him to new limits in WWE and Reigns was the man that was put in his way this week.

After weeks of searching for his attacker on Raw and SmackDown, Reigns was able to return to the ring and picked up the win over Ziggler this week, since he was able to hit an incredible spear. Interestingly, ahead of the finisher, Ziggler was able to hit The Famouser when he countered Roman's spear, but as seen from the video below, it didn't exactly go to plan.

#4 Sami Zayn falls over

Sami Zayn and Cedric Alexander clashed this week on Raw in the opening rounds of the King of the Ring Tournament. Zayn hasn't been on the best of runs over the past few weeks and it appears that this was the company's way of pushing him back into a decent position on the card.

Zayn was unable to pick up the victory since he was defeated with a Lumbar Check from the former Cruiserweight Champion, but ahead of the finish, Zayn proved that he was still not on the level that the WWE Universe is used to seeing from The Underdog From The Underground. Zayn caught Alexander's legs ahead of a headscissors but fell over whilst holding them, whilst Zayn was able to stand back up and continue the move, it was obvious that this was a botch.

Interestingly, Zayn also botched The Lumbar Check as a finish as well, since he managed to land it in the wrong position, which is just another embarrassing botch from the former NXT Champion in what has been a rough week for Sami Zayn.

#3 Braun Strowman drops AJ Styles

Braun Strowman was originally scheduled to face AJ Styles in a United States Championship match this week on Monday Night Raw. Strowman and Styles started their match up but after a number of exchanges, The OC became involved and forced the disqualification.

Strowman and Styles showed off some interesting back and forth in those opening minutes, but one of the most noticeable spots was when Strowman went for a back body drop on Styles but managed to hit the move wrong and Styles was then lucky enough to ricochet off his back and land in a flat position.

The move could have gone horribly wrong and injured the current United States Champion but Styles landed and managed to continue the match which later became all about the Raw Tag Team Championships instead.

The match between Strowman and Styles did look somewhat awkward throughout, which could be why the company made the decision to cut the match short and then make it all about the Tag titles in the main event of the show instead, but either way it made for an interesting encounter this week.

#2 Cesaro managed to drop Samoa Joe

Cesaro took on Samoa Joe this week on Monday Night Raw in the opening rounds of the King of the Ring Tournament, where Joe was able to get Cesaro to tap to the Coquina Clutch after what was an interesting back and forth from two of the top stars in the competition at present.

Cesaro is one of the strongest stars in WWE and has often been praised for how well some of his moveset works as a smaller man. Cesaro is another star who was looking to make this tournament his comeback on WWE TV, but the loss won't be as crushing a blow for him as the botch in the middle of the match where he proved that he couldn't lift Samoa Joe.

Cesaro tried to suplex Samoa Joe in the middle of the match but the duo fell over and then climbed back up and delivered the move once again which was further proof that Cesaro was just unable to get the bigger man over in the first instance.

Considering his strength is his main attribute, this could be quite a knock for Cesaro in the future.

#1 Production errors

Roman Reigns was given red lighting for his entrance this week on Monday Night Raw

Roman Reigns kicked off Monday Night Raw this week and was forced to come out to a much darker entrance since the lighting producers were not able to fix his lighting in time for him to make his way out to face Dolph Ziggler.

The entrance looked quite cool from the outset, but it was made obvious that the lighting designer was having a rough week when the tag team match later in the show was also given some red lighting.

Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin took on The Miz and Ricochet this week ahead of their King of the Ring singles matches next week and the beginning of the match saw all four men were given some red lighting for a number of minutes before the error was fixed and the lighting returned to normal.

Lighting botches are not normally something that happen on Monday Night Raw, so this could either have been the arena's design or WWE have hired someone new in the position who is trying to get used to the job role, so hopefully, this won't happen again.
