The Undertaker's co-workers have revealed a lot of funny stories about The Deadman

The Undertaker is one of the most intimidating characters in WWE history. He is known for his remorseless attitude and supernatural abilities. Opponents feared facing The Deadman, as they knew they could not escape from his wrath.

However, the man behind this dark and spooky gimmick, Mark Calaway, is actually a very kind-hearted person and a respected figure backstage. His colleagues and co-workers keep sharing unheard stories about The Deadman from time to time, which helps to shed light on the human side of his character.

Some of these stories are so insane one might think that The Undertaker has nothing to do with them. So, let's take a look at five such funny real-life stories about the WWE icon.

#5. The Undertaker once slept in a coffin

The Undertaker is known for putting people in coffins and burying them alive. But did you know that he once decided to sleep in one of them?

WWE legend JBL appeared on Sportskeeda's UnSKripted podcast in November 2020. He shared some great backstage stories about The Deadman, including the time when he was found sleeping in a coffin. According to JBL, Taker had a few drinks and was in the mood to take a quick nap.

However, he did not want to sleep in his car or in the dressing room. After searching for a while, Taker came to the conclusion that he would sleep in one of his coffins.

Once he got up, Taker found his coffin surrounded by many people. To everyone's amazement, Taker merely stood up and walked away without uttering a word.

It must have been a crazy experience for those nearby people who got to witness, in person, what the Phenom is all about.

#4 Cody Rhodes gets the rub from The Undertaker at Royal Rumble 2008

Cody Rhodes had a lot of great moments in the WWE, but the time when he shared the ring with The Undertaker might be the most unforgettable one of all. The incident dates back to Royal Rumble 2008, which happened to be the first Rumble that Cody ever participated in.

As soon as the American Nightmare entered the ring, he began doing some planned spots with CM Punk. However, when the sight of The Undertaker caught his eye, Cody couldn't stop himself from attacking him from behind. He chose to draw 'Taker's attention as he wanted to have his shining moment in front of the MSG audience.

He hit Undertaker with a nasty blow, a decision that could have been a regretful one. Cody thought he was about to become a victim of the Deadman's assault. But to his surprise, The Deadman seemed to appreciate Cody's efforts and even took a few bumps for him.

Luckily for the three-time TNT Champ, he did not have to face the consequences of trading blows with the WWE legend. It was another display of 'Taker's generosity to give Cody a chance to get over at his own expense.

#3. Xavier Woods once gifted a gavel to The Phenom

As people might know, there used to be a Wrestler's Court during the Attitude Era. Being a respected locker room leader, The Undertaker was the judge of this special court, where real-life backstage conflicts were sorted out.

So, when it came down to choosing the most creative gift for the Deadman, Xavier Woods had a perfect plan in his mind. The New Day member bought a gavel for Taker as a nod to the respect he has earned in his career among his fellow wrestlers.

The Undertaker was really pleased with Woods' gift and called it "one of the coolest ever." The words 'Judge Undertaker' were also engraved on the gavel, making this present even more memorable.

#2. The Undertaker literally hates cucumbers.

Regarded as a mythical monster, The Undertaker used to strike fear into the hearts of his opponents. Taker did many heinous things during his career that could easily send chills down one's spine. (Remember when he buried AJ Styles alive?)

For an entity that itself is a form of nightmare, it might be a funny thing to expect that The Undertaker is scared of 'cucumbers.' As revealed by his former manager Paul Bearer, 'Taker once freaked out after finding a floating cucumber slice in his ice tea.

The legendary manager used to put slices of cucumbers in Undertaker's hat and gloves to have fun with the Deadman. Owen Hart, who was known for his backstage pranks, also used to mess with the big man by having him face his fear of cucumbers.

Sounds hilarious, right?

#1. The Undertaker's "eye-rolling" trick came in handy against some troublemakers.

Bruce Prichard (also known as Brother Love) was the first manager of The Undertaker when the latter made his debut in 1990. As they worked with each other on a regular basis, it was common for them to travel together before and after the show.

During one such car ride, Bruce and Taker lost their way. They got into a rough area with not many people around. Prichard got out of his car to ask someone for directions. However, the person he approached was apparently a robber. Instead of helping him, the stranger began asking Brother Love for money.

He was soon joined by his accomplices, who tried to rob Prichard's car. But when they looked inside the vehicle, they saw a pale-faced man with a demonic presence. Things got even more interesting once Taker did his "eye-rolling" trick, forcing the thieves to flee.

There's no doubt that those poor strangers might still be getting the nightmares of The Deadman to this day.
