5 funniest WWE main roster superstars

Don't you dare be sour
Don't you dare be sour

While professional wrestling is something that we all like to enjoy from a storytelling point of view, it can also be quite effective when it comes to comedy. Sure, WWE's stuff has been incredibly hit and miss over the years, but when the guys and girls on the main roster are given a chance to really prove themselves as characters, great things can happen.

Only Sportskeeda gives you the latest Wrestling News, rumors and updates.

From Raw to SmackDown Live, the main roster, in particular, is home to some of the funniest guys in the entire company. Thankfully, we get to see them perform on a week to week basis, and it's no coincidence that all five of these individuals are also incredibly talented wrestlers in addition to their comedic traits.

You may disagree with a few of these selections based on your own personal taste, but in a way, that's the beauty of this business.

With that being said, here are our five funniest WWE main roster superstars.

#5 Braun Strowman

When Braun Strowman first appeared as the newest member of The Wyatt Family, few fans could've imagined just how big he would eventually become. The Monster Among Men is unlike anyone else on the main roster, and in many ways, that's one of his best qualities. His move set is great, his character is wonderful, and whenever he gets on the mic, magic happens.

His skits with Nicholas alone on the Raw after WrestleMania 34 have earned him a place on this list, but beyond that, he just seems to 'get it'. WWE haven't gone too over the top with him just yet, and they've managed to find the perfect balance between unintentional humour and his effectiveness in the ring.

It's no secret that he's on the fast track to the top, and his ability to churn out some amusing phrases will certainly help his case.

#4 Big E

While The New Day as a whole are very entertaining, they've certainly cooled off over the last year or so. As an act, they continue to get lots of things over, but they aren't quite as hot as they once were back when they initially turned heel. Plus, and this can't be understated, there is one man who carries them in terms of entertainment value - and that's Big E.

Woods is a great spokesperson for the group and Kofi is the star from an in-ring point of view, but comedy-wise, you can't really beat Big E. The guy was always seen as someone who had a great look but not much else down in NXT, and then, through social media and The New Day, he's been able to blossom and show the world what he's capable of.

#3 Rusev

When you actually see Rusev on screen, there isn't much that would immediately jump off the page to indicate he's a 'funny' kind of guy. Sure, the Rusev Day gimmick is fun, but Aiden English tends to steal the spotlight more often than not - whereas Rusev waits until he's actually in the ring to put on world-class performances.

The key to Rusev's comedy lies on Twitter, where he is single-handedly making WWE's presence on the platform worth it. He just seems to say all of the right things at the exact right time, and sometimes, he feels like he's purposely trying to get a rise out of the company in order to see what happens next.

He may never be a world champion, but he'll always be a hero in our hearts.

#2 Kevin Owens

There's a strong argument to be made that Kevin Owens is the most well-rounded competitor on the main roster. Despite his size, he's incredibly agile in the ring, and he's also able to summon fantastic feats of power when necessary. Oh, and did we mention that he's probably the best talker in the entire company - if not one of the top three?

During his reign as Universal Champion, he was able to showcase his skills perfectly alongside Chris Jericho. Now, with best friend Sami Zayn by his side, Owens has the freedom to do and say whatever he pleases on Monday Night Raw.

His run on the main roster has always been very touch and go one, but now, it feels like nothing can stop him.

#1 Sami Zayn

Speaking of Sami Zayn - let's talk about the underdog from the underground.

It'd be fair to say that the former NXT champion was stuck in a rut towards the back end of 2017, with his babyface run not really doing much for him on SmackDown Live. Many had hoped that he'd rise to the top of the card pretty quickly, but for whatever reason, it didn't happen.

Then, after he turned heel and aligned with Kevin Owens, everything changed. Sami became this irritating yet hilarious slimeball who we couldn't help but cheer for, and in the weeks following WrestleMania 34, he's gotten even better.

From his dancing during entrances to his glasses and quick wit, Sami Zayn is undoubtedly the comedy highlight reel in
