5 Interesting changes that could happen if Brock Lesnar becomes the WWE Champion

Could The Beast Incarnate win the title on Friday Night?
Could The Beast Incarnate win the title on Friday Night?

SmackDown Live will enter a brand new era on Friday night and it will be marked by a major match between WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and Brock Lesnar. Even those who are new to WWE can see clear as day, that WWE likely wants Brock Lesnar to be the face of SmackDown on FOX, going forward.

Brock Lesnar has many accolades in the unscripted combat sports world, including the UFC, and he is guaranteed to bring many casual viewers back to the product. At a time when very few Superstars are truly household names, Brock Lesnar is someone who's a part of pop culture, someone that almost everyone knows.

So, let's run with the fact that Brock Lesnar is the favorite to become the WWE Champion on the debut episode of SmackDown on FOX. If he does claim the WWE Championship, we may see a lot of interesting changes, good or bad, transpire in WWE.

Let me know your thoughts on Lesnar becoming Champion.

#5 A part-time champion

There is no way that Brock Lesnar is going to show up every week on SmackDown Live if he captures the championship this time. Which means that we're going to go back to the time when RAW had a part-time champion, who'd only show up on certain weeks and not appear on others. I guess it's easier to do on SmackDown than RAW because it is a shorter show than RAW is.

In a sense, it may even be better because it will build anticipation on when the WWE Champion will show up next to dominate the roster. The only drawback that I see from this whole deal is that there's no chance that Brock Lesnar will wrestle on SmackDown Live, meaning that the champion will not be a part of the main event matches.

#4 The WWE Championship may close out pay-per-view events

Every championship was defended at WWE Clash of Champions, including the WWE Championship. Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton was a match that could have gone on last in an ideal world, but it wasn't even the second-last match in the card. Roman Reigns vs. Rowan went on after the title match, a match that saw interference from Luke Harper.

The same was the case during SummerSlam as well, another pay-per-view where the WWE Championship did not pretty much end the show. However, that is set to change if Brock Lesnar becomes the WWE Champion, because of the star power that a Superstar like him brings to the mix with his immense presence and his mainstream appeal. We know that SmackDown on FOX is set to escape from the shadow of RAW and emerge as the main show for the first time in history, and there's a big chance that the WWE Championship could close out the show every week.

And I would not necessarily be against this, truth be told, because, by definition, the WWE Championship should be the most important title in the entire WWE roster by a long shot.

#3 Paul Heyman may not necessarily remain his mouthpiece

Brock Lesnar is the top star in sports entertainment today and he is also a celebrated athlete in the world of MMA, meaning that there's very little that the man cannot do. However, his weakest area thus far has been when it comes to cutting promos, which is why Paul Heyman has been his mouthpiece right from the start of his career in sports entertainment.

But Paul Heyman has a very important executive role on RAW, which may not necessarily allow him to devote the same kind of time to the other brand that he would otherwise devote. Could we finally see a point where The Beast Incarnate and his advocate are split up perhaps allowing for Brock Lesnar to have a new manager?

I'm just speculating at this point, but it'll be very strange to see someone who's a genius like Paul Heyman working on the storylines of one show while being forced to work with Eric Bischoff's ideas on the other show. And so, for the first time in a while, we could see Brock Lesnar without his mouthpiece, unless Heyman works both dates.

What would you ideally like to see, ladies and gentlemen?

#2 WWE Championship matches may become a lot less competitive

Whatever your thoughts on Kofi Kingston as WWE Champion are, one cannot dispute the fact that he gives it his all when he steps into the ring. As his matches against Ziggler and Samoa Joe proved, Kingston is someone who puts on great matches with all of his competitors. But I'm guessing that is set to change if Brock Lesnar becomes the WWE Champion.

There's a certain style of match that Brock Lesnar works with all of his opponents, where he gets the initial advantage, and then the opponent makes a comeback before he is vanquished. All of these matches inevitably lead to a showdown like the one he had with Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, where after an incredibly competitive match, Rollins picked up a big win. And one assumes that he will not become someone who bumps around like Ricochet if Lesnar were to become WWE Champion.

And so, I'm guessing that the work-rate of all forthcoming matches for the WWE Championship will be very different from the Kofi Kingston matches. However, it is impossible to deny that Brock Lesnar matches have their own appeal in a sense because he's a very unique athlete like none other in the world.

#1 A chance for heels to become babyfaces

Usually, when there's a dominant heel champion, a whole horde of babyfaces line up to combat him and topple one by one. I'm guessing this will be the case with Brock Lesnar if he holds the title, leading all the way to WrestleMania 36.

And because there are only a handful of men in the roster who believably size up to Lesnar and can potentially dethrone him, there's a chance for a lot of these Superstars to go from heels to babyfaces. Drew McIntyre immediately comes to mind as an individual who just screams 'Superstar', and someone who is destined to be a big deal down the line.

Samoa Joe too is a man who excels at being a heel, but could certainly become a babyface if he has to go up against the likes of Brock Lesnar in due course of time. Believe it or not, I think that there's a chance that even someone like Bobby Lashley could go face if he were to square off against Lesnar.

With the exception of maybe Lars Sullivan, anyone who faces Lesnar automatically becomes a good guy to fans.
