There are a number of interesting facts that every fan needs to know about Angel Garza

Angel Garza has been making a name for himself in NXT over the past few months, but it was only when the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion made his debut on Monday Night RAW last week that the attention of the WWE Universe turned in his direction.

Garza was promoted to the main roster following Andrade's recent suspension after he failed his first Wellness Policy test, since Zelina Vega would have been off-screen for an entire month and Humberto Carrillo wouldn't have been able to continue his feud on WWE's main brand.

It's been an interesting few months for Garza, but for fans who haven't been following his career over the past decade, here are some interesting facts every fan needs to know about the master of The Wing Clipper.

#5. He is a third-generation professional wrestler

Angel Garza made his debut on Monday Night RAW last week by interrupting his real-life cousin Humberto Carrillo and then opening up a rivalry with him. Carrillo and Garza's careers have been closely linked over the years, which could be because their families are so close.

Both men were introduced to the business at a young age since it's something that was in their blood. Garza's grandfather is a professional wrestler known in Mexico as Mike Segura, also commonly known as "El Ninja". He is also the nephew of Mexican professional wrestler Hector Garza, who is Humberto Carrillo's father.

Garza wrestled throughout his early career from his debut in 2008 up until 2015 under the ring name El Hijo del Ninja which loosely translates to "Son of a Ninja." When Garza signed with WWE back in April 2019, his ring name was changed to Angel Garza instead.

#4. He made his wrestling debut at 15

Garza only signed with WWE in April 2019, but he has actually been wrestling professionally for more than a decade before he was signed by the company, which means that he has a wealth of knowledge inside the ring.

Garza comes from a family of professional wrestlers which could be why he was able to make his debut at such a young age. He was just 15 when he stepped in the ring in November 2008 under the name El Hijo del Ninja where he portrayed a masked character.

Garza wrestled under a mask for the next four years until he was part of a reality TV show called Mitad y Mitad: Lucha por el Amor where he voluntarily unmasked as part of the season finale. That was the first time that Garza's face had been seen publically and from that moment forward he made the decision to wrestle without a mask.

Garza joined WWE as an unmasked wrestler more than seven years later and changed his ring name to Angel Garza.

#3. His WWE career could have begun much sooner

Angel Garza has only been part of the company for a few months and already he has been able to rise to the top on NXT and appear on Monday Night RAW, but the shocking part of this story is the fact that Garza could have joined WWE much sooner.

There are a number of stars in WWE right now including Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali who all came into the company through the Cruiserweight Classic, something that Garza was actually invited to.

According to reports, Garza was invited to the Performance Center to be part of the Cruiserweight Classic back in the summer of 2016, but he ended up not taking part in the tournament.

Garza's cousin signed for WWE in the summer of 2018, but it wasn't until April 2019 that it was revealed that Garza had signed with WWE and reported to the Performance Center. It appears that Garza had a few more things to cross off his bucket list before heading to Vince McMahon's company.

#2. He has wrestled in Impact

Over the years WWE has signed a number of talents following stints in Impact Wrestling, most famously the likes of AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, and EC3 all made names for themselves in Impact Wrestling before they were signed by WWE.

It appears that in the decade that he was wrestling actively before heading to WWE, Garza wrestled for a number of companies including Impact.

The former Cruiserweight Champion made his debut for Impact Wrestling back in 2017 and appeared on a number of occasions alongside Mexican wrestler Laredo Kid.

The two men were able to win their first match against Eli Drake and Tyrus but when they came up against The Latin American Xchange, Decay and Reno SCUM, and LAX in a four-team match for the Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championships, they were unable to pick up the victory. The match was won by LAX who are now known as Santan and Ortiz in All Elite Wrestling.

This was the last appearance that Garza made in Impact more than two years before he moved over to WWE.

#1. He is engaged

Back in 2019, Garza rose to fame when he was able to pick up the NXT Cruiserweight Championship for the first time on an episode of NXT.

Garza celebrated his win before heading backstage, but during the ad break, Garza had been granted permission by Triple H to head back out to the ring and propose to his long-time girlfriend Zaide.

Interestingly, this part of the show took place in an ad break and wasn't actually aired at the time, but the company decided to air it later in the show when Zaide agreed to marry Garza.

It was the perfect way for the Champion to celebrate picking up the biggest win of his career and it was a huge surprise to his girlfriend too.

Garza's sister later admitted that the whole family had surprised Garza by making the trip down to Orlando to watch his Championship match so he decided that he would be waiting with his own surprise.

This means that his whole family was there to see him pick up his first Championship and then go on to propose to his girlfriend.
