The Royal Rumble has a rich history in the professional wrestling industry and has given career-defining moments to the superstars who were involved in the match. We have witnessed 30 Royal Rumble matches until now and various records were created and broken in all of them. The Royal Rumble being such a legendary match makes it almost impossible for one to get all the stats & facts associated with it.

So, for now let's only look into 5 interesting facts about the Royal Rumble you may not know.

#5 The Laziest Royal Rumble Winner of all time

Vincent K McMahon
How many did he eliminate again ?

When the going gets tough, the tough get going, but that's not exactly the case in this instance. Throughout the years the Royal Rumble was known to test the perseverance of the superstars involved in the match, a superstar has to go toe-to-toe with 29 other superstars (39 in the case of the 2011 rumble) and the winner would've gone through hell to survive the match.

But the 1999 Royal Rumble match saw Vince McMahon eliminate only one superstar and went on to win the match. McMahon eliminated Stone Cold Steve Austin thanks to the distraction of then WWF Champion The Rock, to win his one and only Royal Rumble match.

#4 The Biggest Loser ever

Kane
Poor Kane!

Things might not go the way we wanted the first time we try, maybe the second time as well and we have to try our best again until we get what we wanted. But this man has entered the Royal Rumble 19 times but hasn't won a single time.

The Big Red Machine has entered the highest number of Royal Rumble matches ever with 19 appearances. He is one of the decorated players when it comes to the Royal Rumble match, he holds the record for the highest number of overall eliminations with 44 to his name and is also the second person with the highest eliminations in a single Royal Rumble match when he eliminated 11 superstars in the 2001 rumble.

However, all those stats did not help him to win the 30 men bout ever.

#3 Most Superstars in the ring at the same time

Royal Rumble
It's getting too crowded up in here!

It's every man for himself when it comes to the Royal Rumble match, but sometimes having an ally won't hurt as it would come in handy at some point in the match. This would be the reason why the superstars would like to keep the ring less crowded during the match. But in this instance there were too many superstars in the ring at the same time trying to throw their opponents over the top rope.

When Big Show entered as the 30th entrant in the 2009 Royal Rumble match, he was greeted by 14 other superstars in the ring. This is the record for the most number of superstars in the ring during a Royal Rumble match.

#2 Most entries as No 30

Undertaker
The dead man holds the record for most entries at No 30

The numbers play an important role in the royal rumble match and the number that every entrant in the match would love to draw is 30 (40 in the case of the 2011 rumble). Three superstars have come out as the 30th entrant and went on to win the match; Undertaker in 2007, John Cena in 2008 and Triple H in 2016.

Out of all the participants in the Royal Rumble match, only The Undertaker has entered as the 30th entrant more than anyone else, with 3 instances. The Dead Man has entered as the 30th entrant in 1997, 2003 and the 2007 Royal Rumbles respectively.

#1 There were two Royal Rumbles in 1994

Owen Hart
Owen Hart is a Royal Rumble winner

We all know that the Royal Rumble is an annual event, but there was one instance when there were two royal rumble matches in a year. That's right, two royal rumble matches took place in 1994.

The 1994 Royal Rumble was held in the 23rd January at the Providence Civic Center at Providence, Rhode Island. The event saw Bret Hart and Lex Luger announced as the winners of the 30 men battle royal, being the only rumble match to have two winners.

However, an unofficial Royal Rumble match took place on January 17th 1994 as a special Madison Square Garden Show. The match had the same star power as the official rumble which included Shawn Michaels, Diesel and Razor Ramon. Owen Hart went on to eliminate Headshrinker Fatu to win the match.

The match was not recorded and is not in the history books of the WWE, but the match actually happened, and thus technically make Owen Hart a Royal Rumble Winner.
