5 interesting things about the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view!

We all know that this will be the scene at the end of the MITB PPV

The seventh edition of the Money in the Bank PPV is just a couple of weeks away and the WWE team is leaving no stone unturned to embellish the match card with the best of everything they can offer.

This event, scheduled to take place on June 19, 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in the Las Vegas suburb of Paradise in Nevada, is sure to marshal large crowds and entertain the WWE universe.

We already have 3 blockbuster matches on the card and expect more to be added in the coming weeks. But as part of this slideshow, let us have a look at 5 interesting things about the Money in the Bank PPV that you may not have known before!

#1 Superstars who took part in the PPV most number of times

‘The Champ’ and the Celtic Warrior have fought at the PPV on all occasions

We generally talk about attendance records when it comes to PPVs but let us also look at the superstars who appeared in a particular PPV the maximum number of times. Talking of which, brings two names into my mind; John Cena and Sheamus.

These two superstars have been a part of all 6 editions of the PPV and Cena's name was already announced for this year's event making it 7 in a row for him. John not only had 6 outings at this PPV but also managed to maintain a healthy 66% win ration only losing to CM Punk and Sheamus, the other guy with 100% attendance so far at the PPV.

Cena is set to face Aj Styles this year and could yet increase his success ratio if he manages to put away the patriarch of the Club.

Sheamus, on the other hand, is experiencing a low tide in his WWE career and may lay low until the brand split occurs.

#2 Kane cashed in the contract hours after winning it

What a way to set the ball rolling!

In the inaugural edition of the PPV in 2010, Kane defeated Big Show, Matt Hardy, Christian, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler to win the first ever Money in the Bank contract. This was the first time WWE had this contract concept and they were in a hurry to make it a big hit overnight.

So on that very same night, after Rey Mysterio had defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Jack Swagger and defeated the challenger, Kane could not resist the temptation and immediately came out to cash-in the contract.

Needless to say, he was victorious. Incidentally, this would be the only time in the history of the PPV that the prize was redeemed on that very night.

# 3 Never has a new Women’s Champion been crowned at MITB before

As per the trends, Charlotte could do it in Flair

Going by previous trends, it appears as if MITB has always been lucky for the defending Women’s Champion. The Women’s title, previously known as the Diva’s Championship, was defended successfully on five occasions at MITB and not even once did a new Champion emerge.

The successful defenders include Paige, Aj Lee, Kelly Kelly, Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox. Yet another interesting thing that has to be noted here is that all the aforementioned matches were interesting and well-constructed PPV bouts.

Things hardly look different this year too as Charlotte looks settled in the role of the Champion and there is no immediate opponent for her. She could possibly take on Natalya or perhaps Becky Lynch for the Women’s title at MITB with Dana Brooke at her corner.

But will the tradition continue to exist at Nevada?

#4 Different venue every time

This time, it is the T-Mobile arena

Missouri, Illinois, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ohio and Nevada! I am not trying to randomly mention the names of states in the US. Rather, I am just trying to chronologically sort the venues in which MITB PPV has been hosted over the years.

This year we will have the seventh edition of the event and guess what, not even once was the event held in the same state as in a previous instance. This is quite unusual with WWE PPVs as they generally do end up repeating venues at some point or another.

#5 Never has the US title been defended at MITB PPV

Rusev could be the first man to defend the US title at MITB

This seems rather more logical than surprising. The only reason for this could be that the guy who holds the US title, is generally someone from the mid-card, with the exception being John Cena of course.

There always lies a counter argument in how the IC title has been defended on a few occasions then. But while I agree that the guy holding the IC title is generally also a mid carder, he is perhaps viewed as a notch above the one holding the US title by the powers that be.

In the 6 year history of this PPV, not even once has the US title been successfully defended at MITB.

Could this year’s PPV be a first?
