5 legendary things Vince McMahon has done outside WWE

Vince has a fascinating past

Vince McMahon is considered to be an evil genius by the many superstars who have gone in and out of WWE over the years, with the company essentially defining his existence in a lot of ways. He lives, eats and breathes WWE, and that’s been the case for near enough three decades now, but what else has Vince been up to since first hitting the limelight?

Quite a lot, actually, with his outside projects gaining a great deal of attention in the public eye. Of course, prior to listing these things we’re going to have to clear a few things up: with the main one being that legendary doesn’t always mean ‘good’. More often than not, in fact, legendary can mean something entirely different and can be construed as something negative.

In any case you’re in for a certain mix of emotions when it comes to the entries, with some of these things bringing back fond memories and others making you want to crawl up into a ball and die. Whatever the case may be it makes for a fascinating trip down memory lane, even if some of the stops prove to be a tad painful.

With that being said, here are five legendary things Vince McMahon has done outside WWE.

#1 XFL

This could’ve better

The XFL was an alternative to the National Football League, with Vince McMahon seemingly going power crazy and wanting to capitalise on the sport. In order to make it seem different from all other forms of gridiron, he made the somewhat bizarre decision to include several ‘new rules’ that didn’t really add all that much to the games.

As you can imagine, the XFL was quite the failure, with dwindling attendances being one of the main factors behind its demise. In total, it’s believed that Vince lost a STAGGERING $100 million on the project, and even then we aren’t sure whether it’s as devastating as his inability to get Roman Reigns over.

Madness...

#2 Muscle & Fitness

Life imitating art

Vince is a scary man, but even scary men shouldn’t look the way that he does at 71. So, with that image in your head, can you imagine how much more terrifying he looked 11 years prior? Back in 2006, Vince posed for the cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine, and it’s fair to say that the spread was positively frightening.

Images are still circulating the web to this day of Vince biting down on an iron bar, with many still choosing to believe that his head was in fact photoshopped onto the body in question. Alas, deep down we all know that not to be the case, and we wouldn’t be all too shocked to see him pull this kind of stunt again when he hits 80.

Uh, oh...

#3 Benoit interview

The Chairman of the Board doesn’t tend to engage in many interviews outside of WWE.com, and even then they’re quite rare. The main reason behind this is that he doesn’t really fare well in pressure situations, at least, not when he’s posed with several alarming questions regarding WWE and his superstars.

This was once again the case when in the months following Chris Benoit’s death, Vince went on live television and took part in an interview that turned into something of a debate on steroids. The female reporter wouldn’t allow Vince to get a sentence out before she interrupted him, with the clip getting in excess of 1,000,000 views since it was first uploaded.

Hollywood baby!

#4 Hollywood Walk of Fame

What a moment

Vince McMahon isn’t just a legend in the pro wrestling world, but he’s also a legend in pop culture. Having been responsible for the rise of wrestling in the 80s and then again in the 90s, a lot of people both famous and in everyday life owe a lot of their childhood to McMahon.

As such, when he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame it was a big deal. Vince had his family present, including Triple H, which must’ve been an interesting experience for Shane. It’s probably one of his more famous photo shoots, with many fans being present to watch Vinnie Mac cement his place in history.

Well then...

#5 WBF

Vince McMahon loves big sweaty men

Back in the early 90s, bodybuilding was really starting to hit its stride and in that great evil genius brain of Vince McMahon’s he started to concoct a variety of ideas. One of those that eventually saw the light of day was the World Bodybuilding Federation. Trust us; we wish we were making this up.

The organisation, that somehow lasted for three years, set out to rival the IFBB in ways that had never been seen before. This included putting on a weekly television programme called WBF BodyStars, and considering that 80% of you have probably never heard of it, you’ll understand why it didn’t succeed.

Legendary? Yes. Successful? No.
