Finn Balor’s move to NXT surprised many hardcore wrestling fans, but it has been seen as a positive in the eyes of most. Finn Balor's transition to the Black & Gold Brand has enabled NXT to get more eyes on the product and introduced exciting new rivalries as well.

Balor was an integral part of NXT during his first stint on the Black & Gold Brand and won the NXT Championship in July 2015. Since then, wrestling fans have seen Balor perform on all three brands where he made a huge name for himself.

Now that Balor is back in NXT and playing a villainous character, we could see him pick a fight with one of the babyfaces from the RAW or SmackDown brand in time for this year's triple branded Survivor Series.

There are some Superstars Balor has faced in the past who could battle the former Universal Champion once again at Survivor Series. Still, there are others who we’d love to see battle Balor in a WWE ring for the very first time.

In this article, we take a look at five main roster Superstars who could face Finn Balor at this year’s Survivor Series.

#5 Seth Rollins

Seth will be looking for a new opponent after losing the Universal Championship

Seth Rollins has continuously been one of WWE’s top Superstars and has managed to win every single men’s Championship in the WWE.

The former Universal Champion narrowly missed becoming the inaugural Universal Champion when he was defeated by 'The Demon' Finn Balor at SummerSlam 2016. Instead, it was Balor who stood victorious and garnered the honor of being WWE's very first Universal Champion. Since then, we’ve seen these two men battle in epic matches, giving fans fantastic moments.

With Rollins losing the Universal Championship recently to The Fiend, a SmackDown Superstar, we could see him out of the title picture for quite some time. 'The Architect' could be given more time to develop new storylines.

Balor could take a jab at Rollins and his Crown Jewel failure against The Fiend. This is despite the fact that Balor also lost to The Fiend at SummerSlam. Balor could even use Rollins’ Irish fiance, Becky Lynch, against him in order to bring the best out of Rollins just in time for a marquee matchup at Survivor Series.

A match between these two top Superstars would be a big draw, especially since they now belong to two completely separate brands. For all we know, Balor could defeat Rollins again and prove to be the tipping point in Rollins' anticipated heel turn.

#4 Aleister Black

One man we also want to see battle Finn Balor is none other than former NXT Champion Aleister Black.

Black’s main roster career has seen him battle in tag team action with Ricochet before being separated from his NXT associate to become a solo competitor once again. Since going solo, Black has been waiting for anyone to knock on his door and pick a fight with him, and we’ve seen Cesaro do that effectively.

Now that the company has been working on invasion angles, we could see Balor appear on RAW and kick down Black's door, in an effort to pick a fight with him.

Although Black hasn’t been seen on the main roster much, fans already know a lot about him and love his work inside the ring. This could result in a long anticipated match between the two NXT legends, who have never faced each other before.

Both men have a habit of putting on great performances and wrestling fans could see them tear down the house. If Balor and Black square off, fans would be reminded of what NXT talent can do in the ring.

If a match between these two is booked for Survivor Series, it would be interesting to see which one of the two former NXT Champions come out of the top. Black is undefeated on the main roster, but Balor has become re-focused since his move back to NXT.

#3 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens defeated Shane McMahon and fired him from SmackDown, but was soon moved to RAW during the recent WWE Draft.

This has resulted in 'The Prizefighter' taking to social media to vent his anger, but he has yet to compete in a RAW ring since the draft. However, Owens did tease a rivalry against United States Champion AJ Styles a couple of weeks back when he interrupted a match between The O.C. and The Street Profits on RAW. With AJ Styles most likely poised to take on the Intercontinental Champion and the North American Champion at Survivor Series, we could see Owens engage in another rivalry.

The storyline could see Owens use his mic skills to great effect, and indirectly take shots at Balor by calling the NXT roster cowards, drawing specific attention to a few main roster Superstars who went back to the Black & Gold Brand. This could prompt Balor to answer, and challenge 'The Prizefighter' to a match at Survivor Series. The stakes would be raised, if stipulations are added that if Owens loses, he’d be drafted to NXT. This would make things extremely interesting, and fuel recent rumors that KO is looking to move back to the Black & Gold Brand.

The two former NXT Champions have a knack for putting on a great show together, and their match at The Beast in the East is a great example of what they can do in the ring together.

#2 Daniel Bryan

Bryan will be looking to avenge his loss against an NXT Superstar

Daniel Bryan was arguably the biggest Superstar that SmackDown’s depleted roster had on hand Friday Night when the NXT invasion took place. Rather than taking a seat and waiting for things to end, Bryan stepped up to Triple H, the founder and senior producer of NXT, asking him to step into the ring to go one-on-one with 'The Planet’s Champion.'

Instead, Triple H had a challenger ready for Bryan, as he called on NXT Champion Adam Cole. The stakes were raised when Bryan asked Cole to put the NXT Championship on the line against him in a SmackDown ring, however, Bryan lost the match.

Now, Bryan will be looking to avenge his loss and go after another NXT Superstar to right the wrong from Friday Night SmackDown. This could result in him calling out anyone from the NXT roster to take him on at Survivor Series, with Finn Balor answering that call.

Balor and Bryan have never locked horns inside a WWE ring, and this could result in a dream match come to life as both men are arguably the very best at what they do. Their size and weight could help them match up against each other perfectly, and just like Bryan put on a great show with Adam Cole, we could once again see him at his best against Balor.

Finn Balor vs. Daniel Bryan has main event written all over it, and we could see the two future Hall of Famers finally battle it out at Survivor Series 2019.

#1 Roman Reigns

The Big Dog is always ready to defend his yard

SmackDown is Roman Reigns’ yard, but unfortunately, he wasn’t available during the previous episode of the show when NXT invaded the Blue Brand.

Reigns took to Twitter to show respect to the NXT roster for stepping up, but warned them to not get too comfortable in his yard. As the protector of SmackDown, and arguably the main roster as a whole, Reigns will be looking for the biggest fish to fry at Survivor Series.

In that case, there is no bigger fish in NXT than Finn Balor. We’ve seen Balor and Reigns compete in the past, but not under such circumstances where Balor has given in to his dark side. This could lead to a very indulging storyline leading up to the event, as both Reigns and Balor have a huge fan following that would love to see the two Superstars go head-to-head.

If the company is busy planning a big match between the leader of the main roster and the leader of NXT, then this bout could work wonders for the company and both Superstars involved, as they engage in a Survivor Series battle for brand supremacy.
