5 Mistakes Vince McMahon should not make at WWE Backlash 2020 at any cost

Do people want to see Nia Jax as RAW Women's Champion again?

Vince McMahon has created an empire known as WWE from what was, at best, a regional sport. And yet, one has to say that there have certainly been moments where even he, a visionary and trendsetter has faltered.

In light of declining ratings and well, no live audience impacting the visual experience for the WWE fans sitting at home, Vince McMahon needs to tread carefully. While I am not worthy in the slightest of offering suggestions to the legendary Vince McMahon, I have been a WWE fan for the last 27 years and I have picked up a trick or two along the way, I suppose.

And so, in this article, I shall offer my unsolicited opinion regarding 5 things that Vince McMahon and WWE should not do at any cost, at WWE Backlash 2020.

#5 Nia Jax becomes the WWE RAW Women's Champion at Backlash

Asuka just became the RAW Women's Champion and I think that WWE should let her have a long and solid reign. She still has Shayna Baszler waiting in the wings for later and she is clearly not done with Charlotte Flair either. If WWE is okay running with a babyface vs. babyface program, then yes, she can even mix it up with Bianca Belair on RAW.

But most importantly, there is a lot of heat on Nia Jax at the moment considering that she injured Kairi Sane not once but twice on WWE RAW, even though conflicting reports have emerged. I love Nia Jax's character but she needs to hone her craft in the ring to the point where she is not a liability when she competes with her peers.

Maybe, Nia Jax can become RAW Women's Champion in the future when she is ready once more.

#4 Apollo Crews loses the WWE United States Championship at Backlash

Apollo Crews is on fire right now for the first time in his WWE career and Vince McMahon could truly pull out the rug from under his foot if he decides that it is time for Andrade to become the WWE US Champion once again. Apollo Crews should have a long and prosperous run and also mix it up with some of the most talented heels in the roster after Andrade, such as Randy Orton, etc.

I had a chance to interact with Randy Orton on a WWE Conference Call and all he spoke about helping the next generation out in the best manner possible. Apollo Crews needs to rule the roost on WWE RAW as the United States Champion and mix it up with others in the division.

Andrade and Angel Garza are clearly headed towards a split anyway so the two of them will be fine with their own storyline on WWE TV in the weeks and months that follow after Backlash 2020.

#3 Miz and Morrison become the WWE Universal Champions at Backlash

Listen, Braun Strowman destroyed Goldberg at WWE WrestleMania to become the Universal Champion and while I know that two men should ideally be able to defeat one, Vince McMahon should not book his WWE Universal Champion to lose so soon after he won the title. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Braun Strowman should not lose the Universal Championship until Bray Wyatt can return from his paternity leave and WWE can book a full-fledged feud between Braun Strowman and The Fiend.

In fact, if Miz and Morrison are able to defeat the WWE Universal Champion and become the collective champions, as entertaining as it may be, I feel as if it would devalue the title. As it is, people online are saying that the WWE Intercontinental Championship means a lot more now as Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles are involved in the picture. At the same time, I think that Miz and Morrison should have a decent enough showing before Strowman beats the odds for the big win.

#2 Sasha and Bayley retain their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships at Backlash, without any drama

The best thing going in WWE right now is the drama between Bayley and Sasha Banks and WWE would do well to capitalize on the same at Backlash 2020. Vince McMahon or Bruce Prichard or whoever puts the match together needs to book in such a manner that even though Sasha Banks and Bayley pick up the win, there is a clear moment of disagreement during the clash. We all know that the big-money match for WWE and Vince McMahon is the clash between Sasha Banks and Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Championship.

In fact, this is the one title that could change hands during the pay-per-view and I wouldn't really mind, even though I think that Sasha Banks and Bayley should retain the title because they just became the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

What I want for sure is the element of drama at Backlash that would really make this pay-per-view a must-watch affair indeed, and it could bleed into SmackDown.

Our in-house WWE experts Tom Colohue and Korey Gunz, in particular, have a weekly podcast that you may want to check out and I can assure you that the said podcast will have you covered with regard to all the exclusive WWE news and WWE rumors you need.

One of the topics that they discuss is the concept of 'Flair fatigue' or way too much Charlotte Flair, considering the kind of push that Vince McMahon has been giving her on WWE television these days. And yes, they delve into the territory of whether she could be added to the Nia Jax and Asuka match at WWE Backlash 2020. They do believe she can.

Charlotte Flair winning the RAW Women's Championship after being added may actually make some WWE fans tune out of the product.
