5 Most Probable Winners of The 2019 Women's Royal Rumble Match

Women's Rumble Match 2018
Women's Rumble Match 2018

The Royal Rumble is probably the most exciting pay per view event of the year. The excitement and suspense when waiting to see which superstar will come out next makes the Rumble match so entertaining to watch.

After the success of the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match, it is important that next year's version delivers too. The scenario is quite different this time. While last year Asuka could be seen as a highly probable winner from a mile away, it is difficult to pinpoint any such name this year. This unpredictability brings with it excitement, which is a good thing if you ask me.

This unpredictability is further enhanced by the fact that we never know who will compete in the match, owing to the fewer females than males on the main roster. Therefore, a winner could come from NXT as well, and not just from Raw or Smackdown. Let's delve in to see the ten most probable women to win the entire thing as per the current scenario. A similar list for the men's match can be found here.

#5 Natalya

The Queen of Hearts
The Queen of Hearts

This entry makes the list because of the acute shortage of protected women on the main roster. This is not to say that Nattie has been protected well, but being a gatekeeper has always kept her at a certain level on the card.

A Natalya win could set up an incredible friend vs friend, babyface vs babyface match for the title at Wrestlemania which may turn out to be awesome just like it did in 2007 with Undertaker and Batista.

Nattie deserves her moment after being the most enduring and prolific female wrestlers of almost all time. Knowing WWE's past of booking Nattie, this doesn't seem as likely as other entries on the list but considering how well this could turn out to be, this might as well become true.

#4 Ruby Riott

The Riot Squad
The Riot Squad

Ruby Riot is hailed by the announcers as a future champion and she sure is one. She may as well be the top female heel on Raw. So, if the winner has to come from Monday night, a logical option would be Ruby Riott.

The story to go for here would be Ruby to win her feud with Natalya using the well-known Riott Squad shenanigans and then feel like a bigger deal. After this, the Riott Squad can dominate the Rumble Match just like stables have in the past in the male counterpart.

The best analogy would be what Legacy did in 2009 with all three members being part of the final four and Randy Orton emerging victorious. Ruby can similarly gang up on everyone once all three members of the Riott Squad are in the match and go on to win the entire match.

The subsequent Wrestlemania match with Rousey would do wonders for the careers of all three Riot squad members even if Ruby were to lose.

#3 Asuka

The Empress of Tomorrow

One should never exclude the possibility of a repeat winner when it comes to Royal Rumble matches. Although Asuka has been booked like an absolute idiot over the past year and has lost almost all her momentum, her recent battle royal win could be seen as a ray of hope.

If Charlotte Flair is not facing Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania, there is no other babyface on the Smackdown roster more fit for the role. Also, it may happen that Charlotte becomes the champ before Wrestlemania, and WWE see Asuka as a good opponent, owing to the excellent match the two had last year.

This would, of course, mean that Becky would be seen only in the battle royal, which would cause enormous fan outrage, but we can never trust WWE to listen to their fans over sticking to their plans.

#2 Shayna Baszler

The Queen of Spades
The Queen of Spades

If there was a list of most improved or most surprisingly impressive superstars of 2018, Shayna would easily top both for me. She has the poise, the fierce look and the in-ring ability to back it all up. She's almost a female Samoa Joe, if not better.

Combined with the other two horsewomen, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir, she has become a force to reckon as NXT Women's Champion.

A great way to use her momentum would be to go all in on her and have her win the Rumble and face Ronda at Wrestlemania. The NXT Women's title can be relinquished in this case, which should not be much of a problem. This could lead to an amazing story where Duke and Shafir pretend to play it neutral in the Rousey and Baszler clash and then align with Baszler again in the last moment to make it even tougher for Ronda to overcome the odds.

#1 Charlotte Flair

The Queen
The Queen

Remember when last time WWE had the odd rule of letting the women's Rumble match winner pick the champion she would face, irrespective of which brand she was on? The same could and most likely will come into play this time as well.

Charlotte against Ronda has already been more than teased at Survivor Series, and it most likely will happen at Wrestlemania and even possibly headline it.

If this were to be true, then there is no other alternative other than having Charlotte win the Rumble and choosing to face Rousey. Also, with Flair's recent heel turn, Ronda and Charlotte are to the women's division what John Cena and Randy Orton respectively were to the WWE a decade ago.

WWE is going to invest heavily on these two women going ahead and that is why they have been protected so well up until now.
