5 most savage CM Punk moments

Is CM Punk the most savage WWE Superstar of all time?

It's no secret that CM Punk was born with the gift of gab and could talk fans into the building just by being his natural self, but maybe time has caused fans to forget the impact that he once had. Furthermore, with Punk just recently returning to the pro wrestling world as a part of FOX Sport's backstage, maybe fans need to be reminded about what made this man so special.

And while his historic run as WWE Champion and countless other career accolades play a part of what made him so special, it was ultimately his scathing promos that put him on top. In fact, it was probably the one thing that separated him from the rest of the WWE roster and only helped make his career what it was.

With that being said and Punk having a multitude of great promos throughout his career, here are the top five most savage moments of his career. As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us which promo you enjoyed the most.

#5 Ripping on the entire WWE

Isn't it great when the fourth wall is broken?

CM Punk did just that during a 2013 edition of Monday Night RAW and it was legitimately one of the funniest segments of all time. This occurred during a contract signing between John Cena and Punk and featured him seemingly going off-script to poke fun at the entire process.

He went from talking about the contract signing being useless since everyone already knew that the match was happening anyway, to saying that these things always end in a beat down anyway. He then went on to show a clip of The Rock ripping into Cena and then took the rest of his anger out on John Laurinaitis

He went on to badger Laurinaitis about firing several WWE Superstars the week before and giving them excuses for their termination.

In the end, Punk did what he does best here and that is to air his grievances in an entertaining manner. Watching everyone sweat throughout the whole thing was an added bonus though.

#4 Negotiating his contract with Vince McMahon

Can you believe CM Punk made Vince McMahon apologize?

Why is CM Punk so entertaining during contract signings?

He just has that extra special something about him that makes every moment that he is on the microphone a magical one. He put that on full display when he met Vince McMahon in the middle of the ring to negotiate his contract with WWE and wasted no time taking it to McMahon.

He started off by calling out Vince McMahon's lack of faith in John Cena's ability to win the WWE Title from him and then went on to claim that he wanted a provision in his contract that allowed him to push The Chairman around. After that ridiculous request was made, he followed it up by demanding his own private jet, a movie and that the turnbuckles feature his face.

Then, Punk did the unthinkable. He demanded an apology for being suspended from WWE and then launched into a tirade about all the Superstars McMahon had recently fired. He even went so far as to say that the firings were proof that Vince didn't know what made a Superstar in 2011, which got a huge pop from fans.

Finally, McMahon tried to cut through the madness and ask that he and Punk be gentlemen about this, which Punk responded to by asking The WWE Universe what they wanted. Interestingly enough, they all shouted in unison that they wanted an apology, thus only making McMahon angrier.

It was a magical moment.

#3 Triple H rant

CM Punk didn't hold back when talking about Triple H.

Remember that magical Thanksgiving?

Not the one you spent with your family eating Turkey and watching the old Pigskin being thrown around while you moaned about how tired you were, but the time you spent after that listening to CM Punk on Colt Cabana's podcast. You know, the one where Punk aired every last one of his grievances with WWE and why he ultimately left?

While there are no doubt a multitude of moments from that podcast alone that could be featured here, this one about Triple H seems to take the cake. In fact, if Punk's words during that podcast interview are to be believed, he got the chance to tell Triple H exactly what he thought of him, which is something most employees never get to do to their boss.

Punk started off by explaining that he was brought into a meeting with Triple H and Vince McMahon when he was suffering from a concussion and told The Game to his face that he resented him for not putting him over three years ago. Things then devolved from there, with Punk saying that he didn't need to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania 30 but that The Cerebral assassin needed to wrestle him.

There were a lot of other great tidbits in that interview, including Punk claiming that Triple H kept intentionally trying to bury him, but nothing really compares to what Punk said to Triple H's face during that infamous meeting.

#2 Putting a fan on blast

CM Punk didn't take too kindly to a fan booing him during a promo.

Believe it or not, there was a time that CM Punk got so angry that he put a fan in WWE Universe on blast! Of course, Punk was angry after comments made by Paul Heyman about his personal life, but the way The Second City Saint decimated this fan was somewhat uncomfortable.

Things started out reasonably enough with Punk saying that the fan had the right to boo him if he wanted to, but dared him to step into the ring and do it. He followed that up by claiming that the second he stepped foot in that ring he was would render him a useless crying heap of a man.

After that jaw dropping moment, Punk claimed that he was pissed off and wanted to fight. He also continued to goad the fan into the ring by launching insults at him, which the crowd completely ate up. Punk finally brought things to an end by reiterating that he would destroy the fan in the ring while the WWE Universe chanted CM Punk!

If nothing else, it was one of those rare moments of knowing how to go off the cuff and be entertaining. It was also a nice blur of fiction and reality, thus why Punk is so beloved by his fans.

#1 Original Pipebomb

The night that CM Punk set the entire pro wrestling world on fire.
The night that CM Punk set the entire pro wrestling world on fire.

Why not go back to where it all started?

That rare cathartic moment where WWE decided to give CM Punk an open microphone to air his grievances to the WWE Universe and forever reshape the landscape of the company. It would also be the start of one of the most reality-bending segments in all of WWE history, which only drew fans into it more.

Interestingly enough, this moment didn't start with CM Punk - it actually began with a main event Tables match between R-Truth and John Cena. In fact, Cena was just about to put Truth away with an AA when Punk came out of nowhere to remove the table. Cena responded by going after Punk but was speared through another table by Truth in the process.

While Cena laid there in absolute agony, Punk climbed up the ramp, sat down and revealed that his WWE contract was set to expire in three weeks. He went on to claim that he despised the idea of Cena being WWE's best competitor and even called The Cenation leader a suck-up.

After that, Punk took shots at Vince McMahon and claimed that the brass rings he always went on about were completely imaginary, which only seemed to fuel his anger. As if that wasn't awesome enough, he went on to complain that he wasn't featured in movies, was barely promoted and wasn't even on the poster for that years WrestleMania.

Maybe the biggest shot Punk took during this whole tirade though, besides calling out the fans on their greediness, was saying that McMahon surrounded himself with yes men. In fact, Punk claimed that McMahon was a millionaire that should have been a billionaire, but that the company would keep making money in spite of him.

Punk was cut off shortly after that, but the sting that came from that singular segment was enough to create a revolution. It was enough to firmly invest fans in the product, blur the lines and make something that would reshape the entire industry. All thanks to CM Punk's way with words!
