5 possible opponents for AEW World Champion Chris Jericho

Jericho wins the AEW World title, after defeating Hangman page at AEW All Out

After months of heavy promotion, All Elite Wrestling's All Out is finally in the record books. The show was dubbed as a sequel to All In, and was sold out in a matter of minutes after the success of AEW's first show, Double or Nothing. The much-anticipated bout between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega was canceled mere days before the event, after Moxley suffered an injury. He was replaced with PAC, who went on to defeat Omega tonight.

The other match, to crown AEW's first World Champion, was contested between Chris Jericho and Hangman Page. Jericho has been actively promoting the event on social media since a long time, and has played the part of an obnoxious, arrogant heel to perfection.

Tonight, a Judas Effect from Jericho resulted in him pinning Page to become the first AEW World Champion and create history. As Jericho celebrated the win, Page looked at him from outside the ring, in disbelief. Let's look at five potential opponents for Jericho, following his historic win at All Out.

#5 Kenny Omega

Let's get the least likely one out of the way to kick off the list. Omega was scheduled to wrestle Jon Moxley tonight, but an unfortunate injury resulted in fans getting Omega vs PAC instead. Surprisingly, PAC defeated Omega via submission. Now, this does put Omega back in the line in regards to a title opportunity against Chris Jericho, but it doesn't mean that there's not a way around this.

In case AEW sets up some kind of #1 contenders match for a shot at Jericho's AEW title, there's a slight chance that Omega would come out victorious and resume his famous rivalry with Jericho, this time for the AEW World title.

#4 MJF

Tonight at All Out, MJF came out to the ring accompanying his friend Cody Rhodes, who took on Shawn Spears. The match saw WCW legend Arn Anderson come out and hit a Spinebuster on Spears. After Cody defeated Spears with a Cross Rhodes, MJF showed signs of betrayal for a short while, but then tossed the chair and hugged Cody.

Now that Cody has won a huge match against the dastardly villain in Spears, he might be setting himself up for a potential World title match down the line. The storyline could see MJF wanting the shot for himself, hesitating to turn on his friend on several occasions, and then finally doing the unthinkable. Although a heel vs heel scenario isn't as ideal as what we are used to seeing, a short rivalry with Jericho will certainly help MJF bag some much-needed exposure.

#3 PAC

Moxley's loss turned into a blessing for PAC, as he was announced as the replacement for All Out. Fans of PAC are well aware of the fact that he is fully capable of producing magic in the squared circle, if given an opportunity. He did just that tonight against Omega, as an exciting encounter ended with PAC submitting Omega to the point that the referee had to stop the match. This is as dominant as one could possibly get!

Naturally, with a huge victory over Jericho's arch-rival, PAC would want to capitalize on his momentum and go for the coveted prize next. This could be an interesting clash of different wrestling styles, and would act as a major boost for PAC's career going forward, even if he doesn't come out of the feud with the title on his shoulders.

#2 Cody Rhodes

It's only a matter of time before we get to see Cody Rhodes inserted into the title picture. In addition to holding a major position in the company, Cody has shown time and again that he can hang in the ring and wow the audience. Since AEW came into being, Cody has defeated Dustin Rhodes, Darby Allin, and now, Shawn Spears.

After these victories over the course of the past three months, it won't be a surprise if AEW announces soon that Rhodes will be the next opponent for Jericho. These two Superstars are no strangers to each other, and have squared off on several occasions while in WWE.

#1 Jon Moxley

When Moxley debuted at AEW Double Or Nothing, he interrupted Jericho, who was berating the live crowd after his victory over Kenny Omega. Moxley took Jericho out with Dirty Deeds, and set his sights next on Omega. We never got a payoff to this face-off, but there's a big chance that it'll happen soon.

Moxley has stated that he will be 100% by the time AEW's weekly TNT show kicks off this October. Ideally, Moxley could appear at the first episode and challenge Jericho for the World title at the upcoming Full Gear PPV. Again, these two have wrestled in WWE, and are fully capable of producing a quality match. The verbal back and forth between these two would be a sight to behold.
