At Hell in a Cell, Sasha Banks and Bayley had one of the best matches of the year as the two former friends fought hard and fierce inside the cell for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. The match was months, if not years, in the making and was a beautiful display of violence, drama and revenge, which saw The Boss emerge from hell as the new SmackDown Women’s champion.

Despite this outcome, the bad blood between the former women’s tag team champions is far from over. Last week on SmackDown, Sasha Banks looked every bit the megastar with the title around her waist. Bayley would interrupt her celebratory promo to issue a challenge to the newly crowned champion.

The challenge was for a match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on tonight's edition of SmackDown. A challenge that “The Boss” gladly accepted.

In this article we will look at five potential outcomes for the SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Sasha Banks and Bayley.

#5 Sasha Banks and Bayley brawl backstage and the match doesn’t take place

The bad blood between Sasha Banks and Bayley still remains
The bad blood between Sasha Banks and Bayley still remains

Sasha Banks and Bayley’s feud has reached a fever pitch. Friendships were ended, relationships betrayed, and revenge sought and taken.

These two hate each other, and they are unable to contain their rage anymore. A backstage comment, remark or chance meeting would result in an all-out brawl in which no one can separate them.

The title match on SmackDown comes just 12 days after Hell in a Cell

Some may view a brawl before the match as an easy way out. But it would be a way out of a tricky situation. A battle between Banks and Bayley for the title just one week after they tore the house at Hell in a Cell may not be the best booking decision right now.

The brawl could also be a way of writing Bayley off television for a while, therefore giving Banks a long and progressive run with the title until The Role Model returns.

#4 Sasha Banks chairs Bayley for a No DQ finish

Sasha Banks could give Bayley a taste of her own medicine by getting intentionally disqualified.

Two weeks before Hell in a Cell, Banks challenged Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on Friday Night SmackDown. The match only lasted a few minutes before Bayley took the easy way out and took a chair to The Boss. The action caused Bayley to be disqualified and lose the match but keep hold her of her precious title.

The result infuriated Banks as it was clear that Bayley used the DQ as a way of getting out of the match and keeping her title. Angered by Bayley’s actions, Banks challenged the champion to a title match inside Hell in a Cell. Bayley tried to sneak out of the match by refusing to sign the match contract, but Banks dropped her and forced her to sign.

Bayley is now on the other side of the situation and desperate to win her championship back, but unfortunately for her, Banks holds all of the metaphorical cards.

Sasha Banks is the best at being bad

Banks may be portrayed as the face in the situation as she was the one who was attacked and victimised. However, Banks is as vindictive and conniving as the best of them and could easily give Bayley her just desserts and get purposefully disqualified.

If a situation like this were to happen, then it would further the feud and keep one of the best of storylines in WWE history alive.

#3 Asuka interferes in the Sasha Banks vs Bayley match and causes a no contest

Asuka and Sasha Banks have a long-running rivalry
Asuka and Sasha Banks have a long-running rivalry

Sasha Banks and Bayley both have a long and deep-rooted history with Asuka. Back when the “Golden Role Models” dominated both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown they were continually fighting with Asuka.

Sasha Banks and Asuka are long time rivals

At SummerSlam, Asuka faced both Banks and Bayley on the same night for their respective championships. Asuka lost to Bayley but defeated Banks for the RAW Women’s Championship.

The loss of the RAW title ultimately led to the demise of the Bayley and Banks partnership a few weeks later. However, every cloud has a silver lining as the loss of the red title resulted in Banks gaining the blue title down the line.

On the RAW after Hell in a Cell, WWE announced that Asuka would be facing Sasha Banks at Survivor Series. On last week’s SmackDown Banks addressed this and said she is the “best of the best”.

Asuka vs Sasha Banks is a match fans have seen many times before, but every time these two have met in the ring they put on fantastic matches.

There can be little doubt that The Empress of Tomorrow and The Boss will tear it up yet again, but Asuka has been very quiet on the match. Could this be the time that Asuka makes her presence felt? It is indeed a possibility.

#2 Sasha Banks retains the SmackDown Women’s Championship

Sasha Banks has a very unfortunate asterisk against her name when it comes to main roster singles title defences. The Boss has never successfully defended any of her RAW Women’s Championships in the past.

Can Sasha Banks erase the past and finally defend a main roster title?

We know Banks can beat Bayley, we saw it at Hell in a Cell. However, the fact she has this added extra pressure attached to the match could come into play.

If Sasha Banks does defeat Bayley and retain the title tonight, then it would accomplish two things. Firstly, it would be the first time in Banks’ main roster career that she successfully defended a championship; secondly, it would seemingly end the feud with Bayley.

For Banks to win and put an end to the storyline would be a counterproductive move as there is still a lot for The Boss and The Role Model to do in this feud.

Sasha Banks is a megastar and for her to win the match and defend the title would set her up for a babyface run with the championship where she can thrive and prosper on the blue brand which would be a welcome sight.

#1 Bayley regains the SmackDown Women’s Championship

Bayley was the SmackDown women's champion for over a year

Sasha Banks accepted Bayley’s challenge last week as The Role Model brought up Banks’ inability to successfully defend any main roster title.

Bayley will be looking to continue this trend by defeating Banks tonight for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bayley could use this unfortunate asterisk attached Banks’ to her advantage. The Role Model got into her former partner's head and apply further pressure that would affect her performance.

In her past title defences, Bayley has done all it takes to win, regardless of the legalities. Therefore, this is the perfect chance for Bayley to exploit Banks’ weakness to recapture her much-loved championship.

if Bayley regains the title, it would continue the Banks and Bayley storyline further and potentially lead to that coveted WrestleMania main event spot.

Sasha Banks vs Bayley is a WrestleMania main event worthy match

The two could separate for a while and go into programmes with other talents on the SmackDown roster until the times comes to restart feud. Sasha Banks could then win next year’s Royal Rumble and challenge Bayley for the blue brand's championship at The Show of Shows, WrestleMania 37.
