5 reasons John Morrison would've been a star if he stayed in WWE

John Morrison
Morrison had every possible skill required to succeed

Back in 2011, it seemed like John Morrison, also known as Johnny Nitro and Johnny Mundo, had the world at his feet.

His performances in the ring were gaining him a great deal of recognition, as the former Intercontinental Champion seemed destined to break into the main event picture on either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown.

Of course, that's not how things always turn out, and following a series of injuries and creative issues Morrison walked away from WWE in late 2011.

It was a decision that surprised a lot of people as he was seen by many to be the future of the company, however, he has instead been making a pretty good name for himself on the independent scene.

Nobody knows if he'll ever make his way back to WWE, but they could certainly use someone with his talents and skill set on a weekly basis. It could be for a singles run or another tag team surge, it doesn't matter - Morrison would likely knock it out of the park.

However, his absence does beg the question of whether or not he would've thrived if he did stay. So with that in mind, let's take a look at five reasons why John Morrison would've been as star if he stayed in WWE.

#1 Look

John Morrison
Morrison had the look of a top star

Let's be honest with ourselves here for a minute. When you look at John Morrison you either want to be him or want to be with him, dependent on your orientation.

It's no secret either because he's probably one of the most naturally gifted talents in terms of physical appearance that WWE had in years. "Come on, the guy wore sunglasses indoors" - exactly.

Morrison was and still is an extremely marketable professional wrestler. You can put the guy on posters, billboards and many other places and you'd probably see an increase in buy rates.

Morrison just has that "it" factor that's so hard to find in the modern day, especially when you consider how talented he is inside the ring too

Speaking of which, let's talk a little bit more about his in-ring prowess.

#2 Moveset

John Morrison
Not many superstars could do what Morrison did in the ring

John Morrison could do some absolutely ridiculous things inside the squared circle. Whether it was his power, agility or general athleticism you just couldn't take your eyes off of the guy.

He made everything that he did look delightfully easy and it didn't matter if it was the first minute of the match or the twentieth, because he always seemed to maintain the same quality with every move that he connected with.

That high flying style coupled with crisp precision is what gets a lot of fans attracted towards the idea of becoming a professional wrestler, and Morrison personifies that. He can grapple with the best of them whilst simultaneously amazing fans with his phenomenal work ethic.

Whether you hated him or loved him during his WWE tenure, you can't deny that he made everything he did look spectacular.

On that note, let's look at the other things he did so well.

#3 Versatility

It didn’t matter what you threw at Morrison – he knocked it out of the park

If you needed a stylish and clean cut babyface, John Morrison was your guy.

If you then needed a cocky heel who feels as if he's better than everyone, John Morrison was also your guy. It didn't matter which hat he was told to wear by Vince McMahon and the men behind the scenes because he was able to pull off just about any character alignment that you threw at him.

If you wanted a long winded promo about a chosen subject, Morrison wasn't afraid to deliver, meanwhile, he could also just focus on looking downright evil and nasty between the ropes.

That kind of versatility is something you rarely see in the modern day because so many superstars are solely focused on what they're used to doing and how they perceive their character to be.

We move onto a slightly more sensitive topic - to some people, anyway.

#4 Age

John Morrison
The former IC Champion was in the prime of his career

When Morrison left the WWE back in late 2011, he had his whole career ahead of him. The guy was 32-years-old and looked set to have a lot more in the tank when it came to the world of professional wrestling, and as we look back five years on he definitely proved everyone right.

Because of that, it's even more of a shame to think that he wasn't able to utilise those skills in the biggest promotion in the industry.

Morrison would've had many years to continue to hone his craft, and would've surely seen a number of World Title runs given how hot he was prior to leaving.

If he was still there today he'd only be 37, and when you look at people like Chris Jericho who are still going strong you'd have to imagine that Morrison would still be able to make an impact.

To conclude, we'll focus on one particularly awesome individual.

#5 The Miz

Miz Morrison
Miz and Morrison were magical together

The Miz and John Morrison were one of the best teams in WWE back in 2008, and their chemistry was infectious. They had two very different styles that meshed together really well, turning them into one of the most well-rounded tag teams in a long time.

It was a refreshing sight, because the division was suffering quite badly at that point.

We also saw the two men battle over the WWE Championship in early 2011, which provided us with a sign of just how good an extended feud between the two could be. If Morrison had stayed, he would've had a long-term rival with whom he would have been able to have countless main event and upper mid card matches with.

It felt like one of those feuds that you could drop for a year or two then go back to with relative ease.
