5 Reasons why Brock Lesnar is better than Goldberg

The Beast is almost certain to defeat the Myth, very soon

Ever since the news broke, the wrestling world has been abuzz with excitement. It looks almost certain that The Beast Brock Lesnar will take on The Myth Goldberg, in a clash of the titans at Survivor Series.

As excited as the whole wrestling world is with Goldberg’s return, and the fact that Lesnar is ‘last’ in his list, we feel that in this encounter, The Beast Incarnate will prevail. There are various clues which lead us into believing this. And we shall talk about all of them in this exclusive. Here are 5 reasons why Lesnar is superior to Goldberg:

#5 Lesnar has a few years of wrestling left

Unlike Goldberg, this is not his last match

Brock Lesnar is not a young man anymore. However, when compared to Goldberg, he’s a much, much younger man, who definitely has a few more years of active competition left in him.

It makes no sense to WWE to have Goldberg go over in this encounter, especially if it’s a one and done deal. So far, the booking of Lesnar has been that of an unbeatable monster. And his myth will only grow if he were to vanquish the myth of Goldberg.

While Lesnar has said on many an occasion, that he has no love for professional wrestling, we’re sure he’ll still be a part of the squared circle for a few more years. In that duration, it would make sense for an up and coming star such as Nakamura or Samoa Joe to end the legend once and for all.

This is a decision that would resonate well with the audience, and also give a new star the momentum he needs.

#4 Lesnar was always a better wrestler

Goldberg was never as good as young Lesnar

Nobody in their right mind would call Brock Lesnar a good worker these days. Sure, he probably still has the skills; but his current booking of an unbeatable monster makes him deliver only a certain set of moves, and completely obliterate his opponent to a pulp.

However, even in 2013, Brock Lesnar was putting on great matches (remember the one against C.M. Punk?). Lesnar certainly has the ability, if not the inclination to go in the ring at full steam even now.

On the other hand, Goldberg has always been limited. Even in his prime, he got by with smoke and mirrors. At the age of 49, when age has definitely taken a toll on his body, Goldberg will be a shadow of his former self. As a consequence, Lesnar is a better in-ring performer.

#3 Lesnar is a more relevant superstar

Everyone knows and remembers Lesnar, even Heath Slater’s kids!

Wrestling fans have short memories.

While Goldberg did get a massive pop upon his return, we saw various videos of his big comeback with comments asking who the man is. WWE is a weekly product, and it’s been 12 years since Goldberg was last seen on television.

On the other hand, Brock Lesnar has been a regular, if not a constant feature of today’s WWE landscape. In such an environment, he’s seen as a more legitimate star and those who’ve missed Goldberg’s streak cannot possibly think of anyone dethroning The Beast Incarnate.

As a result, we think The Beast Incarnate will prevail!

#2 Lesnar is a legitimate combat athlete

Lesnar is a fighter, not just a sports entertainer

Everyone knows about Lesnar’s accolades outside the squared circle. He’s the only person in history to be the champion in 3 kinds of competition- Mixed Martial Arts, Amateur Wrestling and Professional Wrestling.

Be it in the NCAA or in the UFC, Brock Lesnar is definitely a feared name. On the contrary, Goldberg isn’t taken seriously even within the professional wrestling fraternity. Since his in-ring skills are less than perfect, Goldberg would only work squash matches in WCW.

Lesnar is a perfectionist, on the contrary, and except for his recently underwhelming work, he’s always been a force to be reckoned with. This legitimate combat background makes Lesnar superior to Goldberg.

#1 Goldberg has cut a grand total of 1 good promo

Which happened only a few days ago

As smart wrestling fans, you all know that there’s much more to being a WWE superstar than just good in-ring skills. All through Goldberg’s WCW and WWE runs, he was not known to be a stick-man.

His skills on the microphone were passable at best, and until Raw this week; we always thought he cut bad promos. While Brock himself may not be great on the microphone, he has Paul Heyman on his side, who is arguably the best at promos.

In fact, by starting the ‘Goldberg’ chants, Heyman got Goldberg more ‘over’ than he would have been otherwise. So be it wrestling skills or promo skills, Team Lesnar is superior to Goldberg, any day.
