5 reasons why Brock Lesnar vs The Fiend is not happening at WWE Survivor Series 2019

This past week on RAW, the Red brand's first show after Crown Jewel, several matches were confirmed for WWE's next PPV, Survivor Series. One of the big matches announced by WWE is the one between current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio.

Mysterio's friend, Cain Velasquez, lost to Lesnar at Crown Jewel in his WWE debut. Mysterio challenged Lesnar for the WWE Championship, vowing to take what's dear to him - the title.

But, the confirmation of the match has disappointed a few WWE fans who wanted to see Lesnar face off against current Universal Champion Bray Wyatt, who won the title from Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel.

Why did WWE not put Brock Lesnar and The Fiend in a match at Survivor Series? Let's take a look at 5 reasons why Brock Lesnar vs The Fiend is not happening at WWE Survivor Series 2019:

#5 Brock Lesnar to set-up rematch with Cain Velasquez

Brock Lesnar dispatched of Cain Velasquez in quick time at Crown Jewel when The Beast defended his WWE Champion against the former UFC star. Velasquez's debut showed Lesnar as the all-conquering Beast that he is, and perhaps set them up for a rematch in the future.

Velasquez will be out of action for a while due to a legitimate injury, which gives WWE ample time to build up Lesnar and the WWE Championship.

Mysterio being involved in a title match against Lesnar is perfect for Velasquez to enter into the title race and a feud with Lesnar again sometime in the future.

#4 To protect Brock Lesnar and The Fiend

Both RAW and SmackDown have new champions, with Brock Lesnar having won the title on SmackDown's debut on FOX last month from Kofi Kingston, while "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt defeated Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel to win the Universal title for the first time.

RAW and SmackDown seem to have fresh starts with a new roster, new sets, commentators, and a new broadcaster for SmackDown. WWE perhaps want to build both their champions, Lesnar and The Fiend, and not have either of them lose so early in their title reigns.

Although they are not on the same brand, Lesnar or The Fiend losing could dent their credibility. Both titleholders need to be pushed and look strong, before a new Superstar comes along to feud with them, which would add more to the respective titles as well as the Superstars.

#3 Not have a repeat of Hell in a Cell finish

At Hell in a Cell earlier this year, the main event of the PPV was an eagerly awaited clash between then Universal Champion Seth Rollins and "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. The match, which was inside the steel structure, saw Rollins bring out his most dastardly side, inflicting a lot of pain on The Fiend, using various weapons.

But, Rollins took it a little too far when The Fiend got up and kicked out after some vicious blows. The referee stopped the match, which wasn't what the fans wanted to see as boos rung out in the arena.

WWE, perhaps, decided to appease the fans by putting the title on The Fiend at Crown Jewel.

They wouldn't want to make the same mistake that they made at Hell in a Cell once again, which could have been a possibility if The Fiend had faced Lesnar at Survivor Series. Lesnar needs to be protected by WWE, as they have shown in the past, and a loss to The Fiend could have caused more unrest among the fans.

#2 For Lesnar to have a different type of match

Say what you want about Brock Lesnar, but he's one of the best in the ring with a variety of wrestlers. In the last two years at Survivor Series, the current WWE Champion has faced smaller wrestlers, including Daniel Bryan last year and AJ Styles in 2017.

This year, for the third time in a row, Lesnar will face off against a smaller wrestler in Rey Mysterio. Mysterio is a completely different wrestler to Lesnar's previous opponent, Cain Velasquez, which shows that Lesnar wants to showcase his different skills in the ring, and perhaps show a different type of match to his fans.

One thing is for sure, Lesnar and Mysterio - two wily veterans - will put on a fantastic match, and some old-school storytelling. Both Superstars are on the wrong side of 40, but are still in good shape and could put on a 15-20 minute match with ease.

#1 Save it for WrestleMania 36

"The Fiend" Bray Wyatt is perhaps the best gimmick of 2019. If the start of 2019 was all about Becky Lynch and Kofi Kingston, the second half of the year has been dominated by The Fiend and his Firefly Fun House.

The Fiend has had a good feud with Seth Rollins, who is perhaps the biggest Superstar in WWE currently, which showcased a different side of babyface Rollins. Now, there's a possibility that The Fiend could face off against another huge Superstar in the WWE, and perhaps one of the most influential figures in pro wrestling, Brock Lesnar, in the near future.

Simply put, a match between The Fiend and Lesnar should happen soon, when The Fiend still has momentum going for him, and when Lesnar is still relevant. I have a feeling that WWE did not have the two face off against each other at Survivor Series because they are saving it up for WrestleMania 36.

The problem of them not being on the same brand can be resolved before WrestleMania 36 takes place in April.
