5 reasons why Conor McGregor is destined for WWE

Conor McGregor is known for being a two-weight World Champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and so he should be. That’s an incredible accomplishment and his rise through the ranks of the sporting world has been well documented, having gone from a nobody to becoming one of the most notable names in MMA history.

Of course, one of the big questions surrounding him right now is when will he climb back into the octagon in order to defend his Lightweight Championship. Right now we don’t have a definitive answer, and because of that, we thought it’d be fun to look ahead towards a possible stint in professional wrestling.

This isn’t something that is completely outside the realms of possibility, and it’s even been discussed several times in the past. Still, it seems unlikely right now, although when you think about it this could be one of the best ideas for Conor in the not so distant future.

With that being said, here are five reasons why Conor McGregor is destined for WWE.

#5 The Vince Comparison

Conor's walk was taken directly from Vince McMahon

In many ways, Vince McMahon is a unique entity, and nobody can even come close to replicating or surpassing his larger than life persona. In another world, though, there’s a man by the name of Conor McGregor who not only has an ego similar in size – but also has a signature walk that he actually stole from Vinnie Mac himself.

This act alone signifies that he has some level of investment in the pro wrestling industry, and so does his affection for the great Ric Flair. McGregor wouldn’t ever come out and say it but he clearly respects the work of some of the guys and girls in WWE right now, and you just know that if Vince and Conor were in a room together that they’d hit it off.

#4 Mic Work

McGregor is a great trash talker

Being able to work the mic is one of the most important factors behind becoming a big success story in WWE, as you often have to cut longer and more intricate promos than you do anywhere else in the world. So then, you’d have to imagine that regardless of his in-ring ability, this would be The Notorious One’s greatest attribute.

Hell, he's even managed to work himself into a shoot with half of the WWE roster in the past – which is just a sign of how useful he can be. McGregor runs a fine line between good content and controversy, and with Vince and Triple H ensuring that he doesn’t go too far, we can only imagine what kind of material the Irishman would come out with.

#3 Money

There's one thing that we know for sure - McGregor loves money

As Dana White has stated on multiple occasions, 100 million dollars is a lot of money. Obviously, we all know that Conor made around that number courtesy of the Floyd Mayweather fight last summer, and for that reason, you have to question whether or not he’s going to bother coming back at all.

However, one crucial point which many fans are forgetting about is this – McGregor loves making money. The guy has spoken about it on multiple occasions, and you can just tell that if he winds up blowing through the Floyd money, he’ll be eager to get some more. It’s no secret that WWE forks out millions to top names as they’ve been doing it for years now, and Conor certainly falls into that category.

#2 Lightweight Division

This division is stacked right now

The 155-pound division in the UFC is full of absolute monsters right now, and there are no two ways about it. The likes of Edson Barboza, Nate Diaz and Justin Gaethje are scary enough in their own right, but above that, you’ve got two of the scariest competitors in all of MMA – Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson.

These two men will compete for the title in April, and the winner will undoubtedly be expecting a future fight against Conor McGregor. While Conor is obviously one of the greatest of all time, you have to question whether or not he’d be able to get past either of these men.

The smartest possible option may be for McGregor to go on an indefinite break from the sport, chill out in WWE for a year or two, and then come back.

Ronda & Brock have both made the jump

Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, Ken Shamrock, Shayna Baszler. Right there you’ve got the names of four individuals who transitioned from mixed martial arts over to professional wrestling, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. WWE and UFC have a long-standing relationship that some fans aren’t even aware of, and we’re confident that some kind of deal could be worked out here.

Even if it’s just a one-off appearance it’d be pretty special, and we can’t envisage any kind of scenario where it doesn’t take place. If the likes of Lesnar and Rousey can come to terms and officially make the switch, there’s absolutely no reason why Conor can’t follow in their footsteps. After all, he’d be a natural.
