5 Reasons why Finn Balor returned to WWE NXT

"Welcome back to your home"

WWE Superstar Finn Balor finally made his much-anticipated return after spending nearly ten weeks away from the promotion. Balor disappeared from TV after his loss to The Fiend at SummerSlam 2019.

Balor had significant moments unfold in his personal life as he got married during his time away from the company. But for days, people speculate that he will return to align forces with The OC – AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

However, his unexpected arrival on this week’s episode of NXT left the WWE Universe in shock as the former Universal Champion announced that ‘He was NXT’.

Here, we have discussed five reasons why Finn Balor is back on the Black and Yellow Brand.

#5 Ratings

As obvious as it may seem, WWE NXT need the ratings in their favor. The Black and Yellow Brand’s two-hour live show made its debut on the USA Network two weeks ago. However, only the first hour of both episodes was aired owing to the conflict in the program schedule on Wednesdays.

This week, WWE NXT’s entire two-hour live episode was aired which featured the return of Finn Balor. The exhilarated crowd rose to its feet to applaud for their ‘King’ who returned home.

NXT has its niche audience but the roster still needed few big names to bring at par with RAW and SmackDown, especially now that it has been officially introduced as the third brand of WWE.

With Balor’s arrival, the ratings of the show are bound to explore new altars. The deafening ‘Welcome Back’ chants echoing across the arena justifies the impact that Balor holds over NXT fanbase.

Moreover, this will only help pave the way for other WWE Superstars to move to NXT. Can you imagine if Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn is next in line?

#4 Stacked main roster

WWE main roster is stacked with talented Superstars which forces the creatives to limit their options. Often, this leads to several deserving Superstars find contentment in storylines that don’t justify their potential.

Given the state of the current main roster, Finn Balor would have had to take a step back and patiently wait for an opportunity. However, on NXT, he has the option of creating chances that will him bring the best version of himself inside the squared circle.

Balor had a good run on the RAW and SmackDown but more often than not, he was reduced to someone who can be the best in the fight yet suffer from a horrible loss. But that will no longer be his fate and deservedly so. After all, it’s almost a crime to have him stand by as a silent spectator.

Many argue that Balor’s talent was being wasted on the main roster. That judgment seems unfair as everything he picked up from RAW and SmackDown will now help him lead NXT.

#3 History at NXT

All that he touches turns to Gold
All that he touches turns to Gold

Almost half a decade ago, Finn Balor signed with WWE and made his NXT debut on August 1, 2014. Little did we know that he would go on to become one of the most decorated Superstars on the Black and Yellow Brand.

Finn Balor has enjoyed some of the best moments of his pro-wrestling career in NXT. He feuded with the likes of Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura in equally brilliant storylines. In fact, his run as the WWE NXT Champion was so impressive that his main roster debut quickly saw him climbing ranks.

Balor was the first Universal Champion but he had to relinquish his title owing to injuries. Nevertheless, it was a testament to how good he was during his previous title run.

Now that Balor is once again back on NXT, it can be expected that he will once again get the push that he deserves. He can rule the roster and help elevate the talent which will eventually help in building the brand.

#2 Potential ‘dream’ feuds for Finn Balor

The one true King!
The one true King!

Despite the fact that the NXT roster has a plethora of talent, there are limited opportunities for the title. Moreover, NXT claims loyalty from its fans owing to its unique and engaging storylines that leave little to no room for nuisance.

This brings us to Adam Cole’s potential feud with Finn Balor. They both were formerly the member of The Bullet Club but Cole arrived at NXT only a couple of years ago. By that time, Balor had already moved to the main roster.

But now, they are finally standing face to face. Although the two didn’t exchange blows to tease any sort of feud, it was exciting to see them standing in the same ring.

Even if Balor does not feud with Adam Cole, he has a plethora of options to choose from. Can you imagine a feud between the Irishman and Johnny Gargano? For the lack of an appropriate expression, I can only imagine all hell will breaking loose when these two Superstars unleash the beast inside.

Balor can also feud with the likes of Tommasso Ciampa and Velveteen Dream in the coming weeks which can potentially tear down the roof. Is there any end to this list of dream matches?

#1 Triple H’s guy

You can't get enough of this duo!
You can't get enough of this duo!

The entire WWE Universe credits Triple H for revolutionizing the product. He had a vision and step by step, he turned a developmental territory into a third brand that is bund to compete against RAW and SmackDown.

Therefore, it is a make-or-break for any WWE Superstar when ‘The Hunter’ believes in his or her potential. In this case, Triple H’s trust in Balor’s potential is a piece of public knowledge. The two have been open about how much respect they have for each other’s work and together, they make a brilliant team.

Time and again, Finn Balor has implied that the duo shares a father-son relationship. He found his mentor in one of the biggest WWE Superstars of all time and the legend himself returns the favor.

Triple H places his trust and admiration in those who share his ideas of growth. He is responsible for the success of several WWE Superstars who are dominating the main roster today. His judgment is accurate and he is hands down the best person to sculpt Balor’s future as a WWE Superstar.
