5 Reasons why Seth Rollins desperately needs to drop the Universal Championship

Seth Rollins' time as a Champion could be about to end
Seth Rollins' time as a Champion could be about to end

Seth Rollins did the unthinkable back at WrestleMania when he was able to defeat Brock Lesnar clean to become the new Universal Champion. Even more surprisingly, this match was the curtain opener on the grandest stage of them all before the women went on to main event the show.

Rollins lost the title to Lesnar a few months later, before once again being able to defeat The Beast with his converted Curb Stomp. This win ended the saga between Lesnar and Rollins and he has since moved on to a feud with Braun Strowman, who was unsuccessful in his quest to dethrone The Architect at Clash of Champions this past weekend.

Now that Rollins has moved into a feud with The Fiend heading into Hell in a Cell, his number could be up and Bray Wyatt could be on his way to lifting his second World Championship.

#5 The Fiend is being pushed towards the title

Following Seth Rollins' win over Braun Strowman at Clash of Champions, The Fiend made it clear that he was coming for the current Universal Champion but attacking him on his way out of the arena.

The fans were behind The Fiend the entire time and have been throughout the building of his character over the past few months as he's targetted Finn Balor and a number of WWE Hall of Famers.

WWE has backed themselves into a corner with the booking of their main Championship here since The Fiend has become a popular star with the WWE Universe and there could be an interesting amount of backlash aimed towards Rollins if Wyatt isn't the one who walks out of Hell in a Cell with the title around his waist.

#4 The Crowd turning against Seth Rollins

Are the crowd still behind Seth Rollins as Universal Champion?
Are the crowd still behind Seth Rollins as Universal Champion?

Both Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman pulled double duty last weekend at Clash of Champions since they defended their Raw Tag Team Championships in the opening match before facing off against each other in the main event.

Strowman was expected to take the Universal Championship from Rollins on that night and it became more and more obvious throughout the match that the WWE Universe was behind The Monster Among Men. Sadly it wasn't Braun's day, but when The Fiend came out to attack Rollins, the pop that he received from the crowd was undeniable.

The WWE Universe is slowly turning on Rollins and it's expected that if he defeats Wyatt clean inside Hell in a Cell then the rest of his fanbase will definitely turn against him. Wyatt's Fiend is one of the best things that has happened to WWE in a long time and the only thing that could spoil his current push would be if WWE tries to be too clever and find a way for Rollins to retain in less than three weeks time inside Hell in a Cell.

#3 Moving to SmackDown Live

Will Rollins be one of the stars to move to SmackDown Live?
Will Rollins be one of the stars to move to SmackDown Live?

WWE has a stacked few weeks ahead of them since SmackDown Live makes the move over to FOX just two days before Hell in a Cell and the draft will then take place over SmackDown Live and Monday Night Raw from October 11th.

Interestingly, every star will be up to be drafted and Seth Rollins could be one of the fresh faces making the move over to SmackDown Live for the first time. Of course, by this time Brock Lesnar could be the WWE Champion and he and Rollins could then rehash the feud that has dominated WWE over the past few months.

It is unknown who will be on which roster following the draft, but SmackDown moving to FOX is a huge deal to WWE and they will now be looking to make Friday Night SmackDown just as big as Raw, so someone of Rollins' caliber could be a much-needed addition to the roster.

If Rollins loses the Universal Championship to The Fiend at Hell in a Cell then he no longer has a contractual rematch so he could move over to SmackDown Live the following week.

#2 In order to control his own monologue

Will Rollins turn heel in his feud with Bray Wyatt?
Will Rollins turn heel in his feud with Bray Wyatt?

Seth Rollins is now in the dangerous position where he can either turn heel himself as part of his match with Bray Wyatt and retain his Championship or become a heel because he's retained the title.

The WWE Universe has turned a number of stars heel in the past, the most recent being Batista when he attempted to return to WWE as a face but the crowd was having none of it. Rollins has reached the peak of his career in WWE but he's been pushed so hard throughout the last few months that many fans have had enough.

Bray Wyatt has worked hard to create something new, is fantastic on the mic and he has proved that he is one of the most creative stars on the roster so it could be time for Rollins to move aside before he becomes another star that's cast out by the WWE Universe.

Rollins has been heel before and he's a fantastic heel, so he could decide upon this, but if he doesn't then he could be looking at a tough few months when he tries to gauge a reaction from the crowd.

#1 Time to give someone else a chance

Is it finally time for The Fiend to take the Championship?
Is it finally time for The Fiend to take the Championship?

Seth Rollins has been at the main event level of the company for the best part of the year, he won the 2019 Royal Rumble and then set his sights on Brock Lesnar, someone who he has now pinned clean, twice as well as AJ Styles and Braun Strowman.

Rollins has been the subject of one of the biggest pushes in WWE throughout his career, but it could be time for WWE to allow The Fiend to step up. The hype once surrounded Seth Rollins and he was once hated enough and received death threats following the split of The Shield, but he isn't gaining that kind of reaction anymore.

Everything The Fiend does becomes news and WWE is aware that he is a legitimate money-spinner for the company. The Universal Championship would seem strange around the waist of someone like The Fiend and as of yet he hasn't stated that he even wants the Championship, but WWE are stuck for an option here, they either allow Wyatt to win at Hell in a Cell, or they will see their fanbase implode since Wyatt has become the most popular star in WWE at present.
