5 Reasons why The Fiend must not be thrust into the Universal Championship picture right now

Not the right time!
Not the right time!

The hottest act in all of sports entertainment right now, The Fiend, has taken over the hearts and minds of all the pro wrestling fans around the world. Even the toughest of critics have been forced to appreciate the sheer brilliance with which the depths of the character are being unveiled each passing week.

Ever since WrestleMania 35, Bray Wyatt has taken the wrestling world by storm with his new gimmick. On one hand, he is a friendly, ever-smiling TV show host who looks harmless, but on the other, he reveals his dark secrets and turns into a scary creature that we all know today by the name of - The Fiend.

After making his in-ring debut at SummerSlam by annihilating Finn Balor, the demonic entity hasn't confirmed his next target.

According to the venue of the Hell in a Cell PPV, he will be taking on either Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman at the show, indicating WWE's plans to push him straight to the main event scene.

In this article, let's take a look at the five reasons why The Fiend should not be thrust into the main event scene now. If you have different opinions, I'd love to read them in the comments section below.

#5 It's too soon

The slow and mysterious ways in which Wyatt is narrating the story of the Fiend so far is amazing
The slow and mysterious ways in which Wyatt is narrating the story of the Fiend so far is amazing

While the Firefly Funhouse segments started almost five months ago, this new version of Bray Wyatt hasn't been revealed to the WWE Universe properly. While the character development has been exceptional, he has just had a single match inside the squared circle.

The slow and mysterious ways in which Wyatt is narrating the story of the Fiend so far is amazing, and there's so much more that we need and want to know about him.

What does the Fiend ultimately want? Does Wyatt have control over him? Who are those puppets and what would be there roles going forward?

Nowhere in his five-month-old stint has he shown interest in going for the world title, and thrusting him to the title picture all of a sudden would be weird. It's tough to believe that a demented entity would want to hold glory rather than focusing on his mission. Which brings us to the next point...

#4 Does not fit his character

While we all know that any random Superstar in WWE has the aim to climb the top of the mountain and be called a champion, does this description fit well with the character of The Fiend? I would say no.

The way he has been introduced to the WWE Universe has been pretty unique. The complete "Hurt and Heal" theory of his, continuously reminding his former opponents about his presence, attacking multiple Hall of Famers on RAW, all suggest that he has a bigger mission in mind than directly rushing for the title.

Listen, I'm not saying he should never win the title, he definitely should, but as mentioned in the last slide, it's too soon.

He has unfinished business with many Superstars, most of whom he has addressed through his tweets. Be it the guy who destroyed the Wyatt Family compound, Randy Orton, or his former follower, Braun Strowman, Wyatt has a lot more on his hands before he would even think of going after the title.

The only logical way The Fiend would want to have the Universal Championship is when he would have healed all his suffering opponents of the past and would want to dominate the roster after that. That's a heel everyone would fear!

#3 Should happen at a bigger stage

What a spectacle this was!
What a spectacle this was!

While I agree that the whole idea of "Hell in a Cell" fits pretty well with supernatural characters like The Undertaker, Kane, and now The Fiend, the coronation of a demonic entity as the World/Universal Champion should take place at a bigger stage than this.

No matter how good the idea of the PPV is, it is still not considered as a top-show. Having Wyatt claim the top spot at an event like Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, or even Survivor Series would create bigger shockwaves.

#2 Might hurt his momentum when he loses it

As much as Bray Wyatt deserves a lengthy reign with the title for all the effort he has put into this character, it's tough to see him getting a Lesnar-level 500+ day reign. If WWE decides to go ahead with this match at Hell in a Cell, there is no way The Fiend is walking out of the arena without the title, no matter who his opponent is.

But remember, he can't hold the title forever. At the very maximum, he might keep the title till WrestleMania. But would you want your biggest Superstar to lose his first match at WrestleMania as the Fiend?

Rather than that, a better way would be to build his character and let him remain undefeated for some time before thrusting him into the title scene.

#1 He does not need the title as much as others do

Wyatt doesn't need the title at the moment to remain on top
Wyatt doesn't need the title at the moment to remain on top

As mentioned earlier, The Fiend is the hottest act in all of sports entertainment right now. I've seen many fans complain about the quality of RAW, going as far as to boycott the entire show, except the part where Bray Wyatt shows up.

Take for example SummerSlam - It had many major clashes and feuds like Seth and Brock, Charlotte and Trish, Goldberg and Ziggler, and many more. But still, the most anticipated moment was the in-ring debut of The Fiend. Now, my question is - does he need the title right now?

Remember, WWE is in a small war with All Elite Wrestling, and the company is doing everything possible to stay above the competition. As amazing as Wyatt's new character is, one can't expect him to carry the entire show. Someone like Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman carrying the Universal Title could give decent support to Wyatt in helping RAW retain the fans and maintain good TV ratings.

The Fiend would manage to capture the attention of the WWE Universe, no matter whether he has the title or not. On the other hand, many Superstars need the title to become or stay relevant. Now is not the time for the Fiend to become world champion, in my opinion.
