One of the biggest matches on RAW this week allowed the women of WWE to shine at a time when the top male champion was missing from the mix.

All four women involved in the match, namely Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Kairi Sane, and Asuka, competed in separate matches the night before at Hell in a Cell and endured a great amount of punishment. Although that was the case, it did not stop them from giving the best performance of the night, which elevated the entire women’s roster to new heights.

After a great tag team match between the four women, we saw the new Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors emerge victorious and make a huge statement to the entire WWE Universe.

The win was a significant achievement for the newly crowned Women's Tag Team Champions, as they defeated WWE's top two female singles competitors.

In this article, we will look at the 5 reasons why The Kabuki Warriors defeated Lynch and Flair on RAW this week.

#1 To show they've turned full heel

On Sunday Night, The Kabuki Warriors had their biggest match ever, as they competed at Hell in a Cell against then WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. While Bliss and Cross have played less distinguishable characters for much of their championship reign, Asuka and Sane were the clear babyfaces and the crowd supported them throughout the bout.

The duo managed to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships from Bliss and Cross at Hell in a Cell, picking up their biggest victory to date. However, the victory was marked by controversy, as Asuka used the green mist to her benefit and pinned Nikki Cross in the process. Asuka showed that she is willing to use heelish tactics in order to secure a big victory.

While the move signaled toward a full heel turn for the Japanese tag team, it could have also meant that the two just used it out of desperation to score the titles from Bliss and Cross. RAW cleared any doubts, confirming a full on change in character for both women.

Asuka once again used the green mist on Becky Lynch Monday night, which allowed Sane to roll the RAW Women's Champion up for the victory. The act confirmed that The Kabuki Warriors have turned full heel.

#2 To increase the value of their Titles

Defeating the RAW and SmackDown Champions is a huge achievement

WWE announced the Women's Tag Team Championships on the December 24th, 2018 episode of RAW. Bayley and Sasha Banks were crowned the first winners in February 2019.

Throughout the year, the title has changed hands four times. The IIconics did not defend the Championships much, which led to a decrease in their overall value. Enter Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, who arguably had the most memorable reign.

One of the unique aspects of the Women's Tag Team Championships is that they can be defended on all three WWE brands. This allows challengers from SmackDown, RAW, and NXT to pop up at any time and demand a match, if they deserve it.

Bliss and Cross defended the titles well and showed up every week. We expect The Kabuki Warriors to follow in their footsteps. The duo won the title on Sunday and competed in a tag team match just 24 hours later against WWE's top two female Superstars.

A win over the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champions have allowed The Kabuki Warriors to show that they are indeed fighting champions, and a force to be reckoned with. The Kabuki Warriors proved that they are capable of standing toe to toe with WWE's top female Superstars.

#3 To give Asuka and Kairi Sane more credibility

While Asuka and Kairi Sane have been overshadowed for much of 2019, they have recently risen to the top of the Women's Tag Team Division to prove that they are the two best international performers in WWE.

Both women are former NXT Champions, and Asuka has also held the SmackDown Women’s Championship. 'The Empress of Tomorrow' also had one of the longest undefeated streaks in sports entertainment history, which helped her gain the following she has today.

Keeping all that in mind, the company needed to do something big to announce the arrival of the new Women’s Tag Team Champions. To do so, WWE did the right thing by putting them up against two of the most accomplished women in wrestling history: RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch and SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair.

A victory over Lynch and Flair allows The Kabuki Warriors to send a big warning to the entire locker room, and also make their heel character stronger in the process.

#4 To build towards another Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair clash

Is WWE busy in building towards another huge match?

Miz TV had a huge episode where The Miz was joined by RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and the new SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. While things started off amicably between the two women, the exchange quickly became heated.

Charlotte reminded Becky that she is a 10-time champion, while Becky took a shot at Charlotte and told her that her current reign as RAW Women's Champion was better than all of her reigns combined.

This allowed WWE to show the differences between the two women once again, as they had been partnering over the past few weeks to take on Bayley and Sasha Banks.

Since both women are once again champions, WWE took the opportunity to form cracks in their partnership, reminding fans why they were never actually on the same page.

After several dominating performances over the past few weeks, and a heated exchange followed by a tag team loss, the relationship has shown its cracks once again. Wrestling fans should keep in mind that Survivor Series is on the horizon and that another Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch match is a real possibility.

Becky getting pinned by Kairi Sane could also become a talking point in the coming days, as Charlotte could venture out to prove her superiority over the RAW Women’s Champion.

#5 To make Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross clear babyfaces

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross were stellar Women's Tag Team Champions, who defended their titles against a number of opponents.

The two battled against various babyface and heel teams. Bliss and Cross seemed to have a different outlook throughout which left fans pondering. Were they babyfaces or were they heels? Most of the time, it seemed like Alexa Bliss was playing the heel role while Cross was the babyface.

After the match on Monday Night RAW, The Kabuki Warriors handed a two-on-one beatdown to Charlotte Flair, who was inevitably saved by the timely arrival of Bliss and Cross.

Their introduction gave fans hope that they will remain in the Women's Tag Team Championship scene for some time. At the same time, the big save gave the duo more of a babyface presence than ever before.

The change in character for the team, and especially Bliss, could bring a breath of fresh air to the tandem, opening up more opportunities going forward.
