5 reasons why The Undertaker will have one more match at WrestleMania

The
The awaited 25th Anniversary of WWE Raw finally dawned upon us.

The last time we saw the Deadman was at WrestleMania 33 when he faced Roman Reigns in a losing effort. After the match, Taker appeared in his signature apparel, but took them off one by one; the gloves, his coat and his hat, and lay it in the ring, apparently as a sign of leaving behind his legacy.

Then, he went to the ringside, where his wife, Michelle McCool, was in the audience and kissed her, breaking character in the process. Then, he went off the stage, as the cameras focused on his gear in the ring. Even as the show went off the air, and the process of cleaning up the arena was underway, the gear was left undisturbed the whole time.

However, tonight, the Phenom arrived and left everyone equally stunned and confused about his future, with his short and simple speech. But, here are 5 reasons why we will still witness the legendary Phenom one more time at the grandest stage of them all:

#1 His speech doesn't really indicate retirement

The Undertaker's speech is a real hard nut to crack

The Undertaker made his trademark grand entrance in the Manhattan Center arena. In his speech, he ran down the list of some legends like Stone Cold, Mankind and 'his own flesh and blood' Kane, who had to bow down to the Reaper. Finally, he ended by saying, "I declare, for all of those who have fallen, it is truly time, to rest in peace".

However, despite the widespread public opinion that this statement possibly indicates to his retirement, it may not be true. In fact, as per Jim Ross, who was the commentator, it might have been a warning to his possible competitors.

Generally, the job of a Commentator is to embellish the on-screen action with their words, creating excitement and building up hype at the same time. But, if this segment was a farewell to the Undertaker, then surely the Commentators have done exactly the opposite.

#2 The reaction of the commentators

The long-serving duo of Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler were present at the old school set-up of the Manhattan Center Arena

Imagine a scenario: You are employed by WWE as a commentator for their show. You know that it is The Undertaker's retirement speech. How would you react on air?

Definitely not the way Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler did.

Their response to the speech was rather measured, with Jim Ross stating that he felt like it was a warning given by the Phenom to others. Jerry Lawler also responded similarly, saying that he didn't exactly know how to interpret that speech, but that it was 'chilling'.

All these comments subtly indicate the fact that it was not the last time we saw him in action.

#3 How grand was the farewell for other legends?

En
A farewell of the stature of Ric Flair is what is expected for The Phenom

Consider the farewells and retirement speeches of hall of Famers like Ric Flair, Edge, Shawn Michaels and Daniel Bryan:

They all were grand events in themselves. Almost everyone on the roster came out to pay their tributes to the Nature Boy on his farewell. It was one of the most emotional and heartbreaking events in WWE's history. The WWE went as far as breaking the Undertaker's character by letting him make an appearance and hug Ric Flair in the ring.

As for the others, their speeches were given special focus by being the main event of that particular episode. Emotions ran high during these speeches and the commentators clearly indicated that.

Now, consider today's Raw segment featuring The Deadman. Given the legendary status that he holds, does it even come close to any of the above-mentioned farewells? How well does it match with the others, as far as the intensity of the emotions is considered? It becomes pretty clear that this is not the way WWE would let The Undertaker go.

And, if in fact, this is the case, then it would be a major letdown by WWE, both of the fans and the Taker himself.

#4 Subtle indications by other wrestlers

It seems Triple H and others don't believe that WrestleMania 33 was The Undertaker's last ride

Recently, many personalities in the WWE like Triple H, Ric Flair have hinted at a possible last match at WrestleMania 34.

When asked about the status of The Undertaker, Triple H said, "I don't know. We'll have to ask him. That's the beauty of WWE. Wait and see. You talk about longevity and the ability to change and morph all those things, he is a measuring stick of all of that. That's why 25 years later they want to see him maybe more now than ever".

Also, Ric Flair hinted at The Deadman shocking the world with his possible return at WrestleMania.

These are positive indications for creating the necessary hype around the Phenom's possible next match.

#5 His physical condition and exciting possibilities

En
Will this match remain a dream forever or will it translate into reality?

After his match at WrestleMania 33 against Roman Reigns, the Phenom underwent a hip replacement surgery. It was expected that this surgery would possibly spoil his physical condition and hence, it would be difficult for him to wrestle again.

However, Jerry Lawler, on a podcast in November, said that when he saw The Undertaker, he looked to be in great shape, which, is probably an indication that he is gearing up for a match.

Also, if this is the case, there are quite a few exciting prospects for a match featuring the Deadman at WrestleMania 34, with the hottest of them being a dream match-up against John Cena. Given the current free agent status of John Cena, it would make the most sense if he squares up against the Reaper. It would have been more interesting had the streak not been broken, but still, is a relishing prospect.

Thus, a return to ring seems unlikely at the Royal Rumble, but all eyes would now be on 8th April 2018, when WrestleMania 34 finally unfolds.
