WrestleMania 37 could see some huge names return to WWE

WrestleMania 36 was arguably the strangest edition of WWE's biggest pay-per-view of the year. Taking place in front of no fans at the WWE Performance Center due to COVID-19, the company was forced to change its plans at the last moment. Well, we are now less than six months away from WrestleMania 37 and WWE has already started planning the megaevent.

The rumor mill is at its best as several plans, matches, and returns are being speculated to take place at WrestleMania 37 next year. If things go well, we might even see a live crowd return by that time, giving back WrestleMania its biggest Superstar - the fans.

So without any delay, let's take a look at five rumored plans for WrestleMania 37. Be sure to comment down and let us know which of them would you want to see happen at the Show of Shows next year.

#5 The Undertaker and John Cena to return at WrestleMania 37?

The Undertaker and John Cena are two of the biggest WWE Superstars of all time. Earlier this year, The Undertaker seemingly announced his retirement after an amazing WWE Network docuseries where he broke kayfabe and revealed the man behind the character of The Undertaker, Mark Callaway. John Cena, on the other hand, has transitioned into a part-timer and is focused on his Hollywood career. But both these veterans could return to the ring soon.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE might be planning to bring back John Cena and The Undertaker once fans return, likely at WrestleMania 37.

“I think if there are no fans then there’s no reason to bring [Cena] back. If there are fans… you know come WrestleMania season they’re gonna talk to John Cena and they’re gonna talk to Undertaker. I mean it’s just how it is no matter what they say now. A lot of times those guys come back.”

Both veterans last performed for WWE at this year's WrestleMania 36. The Undertaker took on and defeated AJ Styles in a highly-acclaimed cinematic style Boneyard match. John Cena also was involved in a cinematic match at WrestleMania this year when he took on Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Fun House match. It would be interesting to see whether WWE brings these two back at WrestleMania 37 and who they face. Or could they face each other in a rematch from WrestleMania 34?

#4 Becky Lynch to take on Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 37

WrestleMania 35 saw three women make history as Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair took on each other in the first all-women WrestleMania main event. It was Becky Lynch who came out victorious in the triple threat match. That match was also the last WWE TV appearance of Ronda Rousey and fans have been waiting to see the UFC Hall of Famer return. That wait might be over soon as Dave Meltzer has reported that there is an expectation that Ronda Rousey will work next year's WrestleMania 37.

“[Ronda] Rousey is still under contract and was expected to do WrestleMania in Los Angeles.”

Another huge name expected to return and possibly take on Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 37 is Becky Lynch. As per a report from WrestlingNews.co, WWE is planning a singles match between Becky and Ronda for WrestleMania 37.

"Vince is hoping for Becky to be back in January or February to start the one on one feud with Ronda."

The report also added that Vince McMahon wants fans to be back by WrestleMania next year and wants the show to be the one that says "WWE is back".

"Vince wants WrestleMania to be the show that says 'WWE is back. We can't do Becky vs. Ronda in the Thunderdome with no fans. He wants the fans back, and they will be back by the time Mania rolls around."

If the match does happen, it could surely be one of the contenders to main event WrestleMania 37. It all comes down to whether Becky Lynch is ready to return by that time or not. She is due to give birth in December 2020 so it leaves a very short margin for her to train and return to the ring by the time WrestleMania 37 comes around.

As for Ronda Rousey, she was recently spotted training in a wrestling ring with James Storm. It surely has started the speculation of her returning to WWE sooner rather than later.

#3 The Rock vs. Roman Reigns possibly in works for WrestleMania 37

Another huge match being speculated to take place at WrestleMania 37 is that between the current Universal Champion Roman Reigns and his cousin and WWE legend The Rock. The Brahma Bull hasn't wrestled a match since squashing Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 in an impromptu match. Recently, The Rock said that he would be open to a match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37.

"Feels like the one that would make sense, right, would be Roman. In terms of box-office draw… I know how that conversation goes. 'Listen, here's what we're thinking. Roman beats you now at this WrestleMania. But, listen, before you guys say anything. Then on the next one… that's when… But you know what, the truth is, I would be honored not only to share the ring with Roman and to go back to the WWE. But of course, I would be honored to have him raise his hand in that one." (h/t Wrestlingnews.co)

Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns himself have commented on his rumored match with The Rock, increasing speculations that this might actually happen at WrestleMania 37. Of course, it all comes down to whether The Rock can manage to take time out for a WWE return from his busy Hollywood schedule and how things work out in terms of his in-ring insurance.

#2 Edge vs. Randy Orton to have a third and final match at WrestleMania 37

There have been multiple reports that have suggested that the planned main-event for WrestleMania 37 will see Randy Orton take on Edge in an "I Quit" match, possibly with the WWE Championship on the line.

Edge's miraculous return to WWE at Royal Rumble 2020 was followed by what was arguably the most personal rivalry on the Road to WrestleMania 36 between him and Randy Orton. At the Show of Shows, Edge defeated Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match in his first singles match in nearly nine years.

Well, the rivalry was not over as the two again took on each other at WWE Backlash in what was billed as "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever". It was Orton who came out victorious this time as he brought back his vicious Punt kick. The original plans were for Edge and Orton to have a third and decider match at SummerSlam, but Edge got injured thus forcing WWE to change the plans.

With Randy Orton currently in the WWE Championship picture, the speculation is that he will win the title and go on to defend it against Edge at WrestleMania 37. However, Dave Meltzer has recently reported that plans could change if Edge is not able to recover in time. It will be interesting to see how WWE plans this feud going forward for WrestleMania 37, keeping in mind the uncertainty over the return date of the Rated-R Superstar.

#1 WWE to possibly change the venue for WrestleMania 37

WrestleMania 36 was originally scheduled to take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida before the COVID-19 pandemic forced WWE to shift it to their Performance Center. The original venue for WrestleMania 37 was announced to be the SoFi Stadium at Inglewood, California but WWE is reportedly planning to change it.

As per a report by Inside the Ropes, WWE is planning to shift WrestleMania 37 from California to the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, which was the original venue of WrestleMania 36. WrestleVotes has also confirmed the same stating that the news is very accurate.

Those contractual obligations are with the state of California regarding WrestleMania... The news of WWE looking into Tampa Bay is accurate. Very accurate.

With WWE being forced to hold this year's WrestleMania, their biggest show of the year, in front of no crowd at the Performance Center, Vince McMahon would surely be planning to come back with a bang at WrestleMania 37. The rumored design of the stadium at Tampa with the huge Pirate Ship would surely make for an amazing WrestleMania set.
