WWE WrestleMania is the stage that every WWE Superstar dreams of performing on. The Showcase of the Immortals has presented some of the greatest matches and attractions in WWE history with several iconic performances.

The amount of time allotted for a match by WWE officials can often greatly influence how the WWE Universe perceives it. If a match drags on too long, some argue that it becomes laborious or boring to watch. Whereas, if a match is too short, it can be tough to tell the desired story by all involved.

Despite being WWE's biggest show of the year, WrestleMania has seen some of the shortest matches in the company's history. Championships and fierce rivalries have been settled in mere seconds on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Let's take a closer look at the five shortest matches in WWE WrestleMania history.

#5 Rey Mysterio vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield - WWE WrestleMania 25 (00:20)

WWE hasn't seen many better villains than John "Bradshaw" Layfield. The future WWE Hall of Famer is regarded as one of the best heels in WWE history. At one point, he was the longest-reigning WWE Champion in SmackDown history.

After a brief retirement and a move to commentary on Friday Night SmackDown in 2006, JBL returned to action as an in-ring performer in 2008 on Monday Night RAW. His final run as a WWE Superstar culminated in a match against Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 25 in 2009.

JBL recently captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship on Monday Night RAW and bragged about walking into WrestleMania as a champion in his home state of Texas.

The former APA member constantly reminded the WWE Universe that he would return to Houston, Texas as a conquering hero and cement his legacy by retaining his Intercontinental title against Rey Mysterio. However, this did not go to plan for the Texas loudmouth.

Before his match with Mysterio could start, JBL attacked The Master of the 619 with a vicious boot. However, once the match began, Mysterio quickly gained the upper hand and hit the 619 and a big splash for a shocking victory in just 20 seconds.

Totally embarrassed and humiliated by losing in 20 seconds at WrestleMania in his home state, Layfield grabbed a microphone and loudly announced "I quit" before quickly leaving the arena.

This, in fact, would mark John "Bradshaw" Layfield's final match as an in-ring performer for WWE before retirement.

#4 The Hart Foundation vs. The Bolsheviks - WWE WrestleMania 6 (00:19)

WWE WrestleMania 6 is best known for its epic main event showdown between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior.

The WWE title vs. Intercontinental title match between the two biggest babyfaces in WWE at the time is still spoken about to this day as one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time.

The match was an all-time classic and brought close to 70,000 fans at the SkyDome in Toronto, Canada, to their feet. However, an often forgotten fact about WrestleMania 6 is that the event also saw one of the shortest WrestleMania matches in WWE history.

WWE WrestleMania 6 saw the homecoming of Canadian heroes The Hart Foundation. Cutting their teeth in Stampede Wrestling in Calgary early on in their careers, Bret "Hitman" Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart were considered icons to wrestling fans in Canada.

Therefore, the WWE Universe in attendance was thrilled to see the Canadian heroes quickly dispatch the villainous Bolsheviks on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

The majority of The Bolsheviks' air time was taken up before their tag team match against The Hart Foundation. Nikolai Volkoff and Boris Zhukov messed around with Steve Allen in a backstage segment before heading to the ring for their tag team showdown.

The Bolsheviks then began to sing the Russian national anthem to a chorus of boos. However, this was quickly interrupted by Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, who subsequently hit the Hart Attack double-team finisher for the quick victory in just 19 seconds.

#3 Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan - WWE WrestleMania 28 (00:18)

The WWE Universe was certainly none too pleased when Sheamus quickly dispatched Daniel Bryan to open WrestleMania 28 in 2012. However, it was arguably the best thing to happen to Bryan's career because it was on this very night that the YES! Movement was born.

Daniel Bryan had been the WWE World Heavyweight Champion on SmackDown since cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase in December of the prior year. However, the once babyface Bryan had slowly turned into an annoying, insufferable heel as champion.

Bryan also entered an on-screen relationship with AJ Lee, who he would often manipulate to help him win his matches and retain his championship.

Sheamus, fresh from his 2012 Royal Rumble match victory, had chosen to challenge Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

The WWE Universe was thrilled to see Daniel Bryan, widely regarded as one of the best in-ring performers of his generation, finally be in a major world title match at WrestleMania. However, things took an unexpected turn at The Showcase of the Immortals.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Daniel Bryan and Sheamus opened the show. Once the bell rang, Bryan called AJ Lee up to the apron to give him a good luck kiss.

Once the couple had smooched, Sheamus surprised Bryan by hitting him with a Brogue Kick for a shock victory in just 18 seconds, becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion in the process.

Fans were shocked, upset, and confused at what they had witnessed. However, the following night on Monday Night RAW, the crowd loudly chanted Daniel Bryan's "YES!" for the majority of the broadcast. This indicated that despite Bryan's shocking defeat, he had become an even bigger WWE Superstar in the process.

#2 Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero - WWE WrestleMania 24 (00:11)

WWE's version of ECW is certainly best forgotten and certainly shouldn't be compared to the original promotion of the 1990s. In fact, some would argue that one of the final nails in the WWE ECW coffin came at WrestleMania XXIV.

The pre-show of WrestleMania XXIV saw a 24-man over-the-top-rope battle royal to determine the No. 1 contender for the ECW Championship.

The winner of the match would not only be the next challenger for ECW's top prize, but the opportunity would take place later that night on the WrestleMania main card.

After six minutes of action, the field of WWE Superstars came down to Kane and Mark Henry as the last two competitors. Despite a back-and-forth contest, The Big Red Machine eliminated The World's Strongest Man and became ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero's challenger.

In the fourth match of the WrestleMania broadcast, Guerrero made his way to the ring to defend his ECW Championship. As the Mexican Warrior was waiting for his opponent, Kane's music hit, but he was nowhere to be found.

The Big Red Machine suddenly appeared behind Chavo Guerrero in the ring. Stunned by Kane's sudden appearance, the bell rang, and the challenger quickly hit Guerrero with an emphatic chokeslam to claim the ECW Championship after just 11 seconds.

Ultimately, the suddenness and short nature of the match reflected WWE's opinion of the ECW brand at that point - nothing but an afterthought.

#1 The Rock vs. Erick Rowan - WWE WrestleMania 32 (00:06)

WWE WrestleMania 32 is historic for a variety of reasons. The event is the highest attended show in WWE history, with a capacity attendance of 101,763. WrestleMania 32 also holds the distinct honor of hosting the shortest match in WrestleMania history too.

WWE heavily promoted The Rock to be making a trademark appearance on The Grandest Stage of Them All in 2016. The Great One appeared in front of the WWE Universe in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to announce that WWE had broken the event's previous attendance record. However, he was then interrupted by The Wyatt Family.

Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman all confronted The Rock and threatened to attack the former WWE Champion. However, The Great One turned the tables on the faction by challenging one of The Wyatt Family to a match.

The Eater of Worlds nominated Rowan to have the distinct honor of squaring off with The People's Champion. As soon as the bell rang, The Rock dropped Rowan with a Rock Bottom and pinned him after just six seconds, breaking the record as the quickest match in WrestleMania history.

Once the match was over, The Wyatt Family surrounded the ring to attack The Rock. Then, The Great One's former rival John Cena made a surprise return from injury to come to his aid. Both legendary WWE Superstars combined to fight off The Wyatt Family in an epic WrestleMania moment.
