Will Roman Reigns face The Fiend or Brock Lesnar?
Will Roman Reigns face The Fiend or Brock Lesnar?

Royal Rumble is only a few weeks away and we don't yet know who is going to win this year's 30 Man Battle Royal Match. The Superstar who wins this over-the-top-rope Battle Royal gets an opportunity to challenge for either the WWE Championship or the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36. Last year, Seth Rollins won the Royal Rumble and successfully challenged Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35.

This year, the excitement among fans regarding the Royal Rumble far surpasses previous years. The ongoing storylines on SmackDown and RAW have carried fan interest so far, and WWE will want to continue that trend at the Royal Rumble. However, the winner of the Battle Royal match can change everything, so the company must be careful.

Right now, Roman Reigns seems a likely winner and here are 5 signs that Vince McMahon could allow him to grab the big victory.

#5. Roman Reigns has already teased it

On the first SmackDown of 2020, Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan confronted each other backstage. Reigns proceeded to tease an upcoming match between he and Bryan at WrestleMania 36.

The former Universal Champion announced that he is going to enter the Royal Rumble Match, win the Battle Royal, and challenge for the Universal Championship. Even though Reigns assumed that Daniel Bryan will beat The Fiend at Royal Rumble and they will have a match at the Shows Of Shows, we don't think this is likely to happen.

We have already published a feature on why Roman Reigns could challenge Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania and will go on with the same here.

Yes, every Royal Rumble entrant will predict that he is going to win the Battle Royal, but the case with 'The Big Dog' is different. If he has said it, then it's likely going to happen and his career history proves just that.

#4. 'The Big Dog' hasn't been involved in a World Championship feud for over a year now

Roman Reigns relinquished the Universal Championship back in October 2018, when he was diagnosed with leukemia. This kept him away from the WWE ring for many months before the 34 years old Superstar returned in March 2019.

Reigns had his first match since 2018 at WrestleMania 35 when he faced Drew McIntyre in a singles match. As expected, 'The Big Dog' won the bout and although it's been months now, he still hasn't fought for a World Title.

We feel the time is now for Reigns to win the Royal Rumble Match and involve himself in a title feud. The fact that he has never been kept away from any championship for this long backs up our point.

As previously mentioned, Reigns' most likely WrestleMania 36 opponent is fellow Blue Brand Superstar The Fiend, however, that isn't the only option. Since Brock Lesnar is also participating in the Men's Royal Rumble Match, Reigns could win the bout and have a face off against 'The Beast' at WrestleMania. They have a history together and this feud makes sense as well.

#3. WrestleMania main event's uncertainty

In 2017, we knew that Roman Reigns was going to main event WrestleMania against The Undertaker. In 2018, we knew Reigns would face Brock Lesnar. In 2019, we were certain that the women were going to be featured in the final match. Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch were already the most popular names on RAW and considering Vince McMahon's respect for Charlotte Flair's work, she too was involved in the closing match.

But WrestleMania 36's main event is entirely uncertain. The turbulence is great. Nobody knows what's going to happen. The only thing we can be sure of is that a championship is going to be defended during the main event match, most probably the Universal or WWE Championship.

Reigns is an excellent choice to win the Royal Rumble because he has experience in headlining big shows. He certainly knows what it takes to keep fans interest at a peak during the biggest matches on the biggest stages. If he wins the Royal Rumble, then he would go on to once again main event the Grandest Stage of Them All.

#2. Roman Reigns vs The Fiend may already be in the works

Roman Reigns vs The Fiend is currently rumored to be in the works. We have already published a feature as to why Reigns vs The Fiend should happen at WrestleMania 36. You can check it out here.

We know that The Fiend is currently the hottest character in WWE and Vince McMahon has big plans for him. Main eventing WrestleMania could be one of them. Roman Reigns, on the other hand, is the company's poster boy. He can't be kept away from the main event scene much longer without losing credibility.

Reigns is the face of SmackDown and it isn't fair to keep him away from the title scene. He hasn't even been allowed the opportunity to challenge for the title he never actually lost. If this match is indeed slated to happen, then Vince McMahon could allow Roman Reigns to win the Royal Rumble. It would provide him a direct opportunity to fight for the Universal Championship. WWE can plan the build-up later.

#1. He is the betting odds favorite to win

Last but not least, Roman Reigns is currently the favorite to win the 30 Man Battle Royal Match. Several weeks ago, a rumor surfaced on the internet that WWE management wants Reigns to win the Rumble match this year. Now, even the betting odds support this claim.

Roman Reigns and Shayna Baszler are favorites to win their respective Royal Rumble matches. We can throw a handful of reasons as to why 'The Big Dog' should win the Battle Royal, but we wouldn't go there in this article.

If the betting odds are in Reigns' favor, there's a high chance that he will win the Royal Rumble Match this month. Whether he challenges Brock Lesnar or The Fiend, his match will be more special than any other bout booked for the show, considering the adversity he has overcome in recent times.
