5 Superstars who could be La Luchadora

The mystery that is puzzling everyone

Who is La Luchadora?

This has been the discussion among wrestling circles after this week’s SmackDown Live. The ability to evoke such questions and making fans tune into next week’s programming has been one of the biggest plus points of SmackDown Live.

The mysterious masked woman under the gimmick, La Luchadora came out to cost Becky Lynch her title shot against Alexa Bliss this week. Ironically, La Luchadora was the same gimmick that Becky had used to get her shot in the first place. With just two weeks, SmackDown Live has managed to create a character that evokes emotions among the fans.

The big question still remains: who is La Luchadora? In this list, we are going to take a look at some possible names that could be under the mask.

Honourable Mention: Eva Marie

Eva is bound to get a big push when she returns

We know that the return of Eva Marie is coming sooner or later. With the recent film project that she landed, WWE is bound to give her a major role in the Women’s division and as pushing her right into the Championship might result in fan backlash, pitting her against the former champion was probably the second best decision.

Eva already has heat on her and costing Becky Lynch her title shot doubles the magnitude, in turn making her one of the hottest heels on the Women’s division right now.

#5 Mickie James

Mickie as a heel would be surprising

There are a lot of rumours which suggest that Mickie James is La Luchadora. Earlier, it was also rumoured that Mickie had signed a long term deal with WWE and was set to make her return to SmackDown. If we read between the lines, the rumour actually makes sense.

While Mickie has enough experience to play heel and would elevate Becky Lynch, WWE not going with Mickie as a babyface would be surprising. However, revealing Mickie as La Luchadora is bound to make headlines that could, in turn, attract eyeballs.

Mickie vs. Becky could be a credible second feud on the division, whereas Alexa could defend her title against someone else.

#4 Paige

Her talent should not be overlooked

Paige has been out of action due to suspension for a long time. Before her hiatus from the company, Paige was on Monday Night Raw. However, with such a long suspension, it would make sense for WWE to repackage her and draft her to SmackDown Live. The only reason this wouldn’t happen is the problems that WWE has had with Paige.

With all the chaos that has taken place in recent months, it’s hard to see WWE trusting her with such a big storyline. But then again, one cannot overlook the talent that Paige has, and she could put together some great matches with Becky Lynch, just like good old days.

PS: The skin colour might not match but WWE could send out an entirely different person next week around since we had a mask.

#3 Rosa Mendes

Rosa could make a huge return

Rosa Mendes is a name that barely got mentioned when the discussion about La Luchadora came out. Rosa is still signed to WWE and she had taken maternity leave from the company last August. Rosa then gave birth in February 2016. Ten months have passed since then and due to this, a return from Rosa cannot be ruled out.

Rosa also has similar features to La Luchadora but the amount of reaction she would evoke is questionable. Also, Rosa’s skill set will need to be upgraded, if she is going to have a long-term feud with someone like Becky. But if WWE is bringing back her as a non-wrestling associate of Alexa Bliss, it would be a much better booking decision.

#2 Deonna Purrazzo

Right into the big picture

If we look back, Deonna Purrazzo was scheduled to face Alexa Bliss on December 13, 2016, on SmackDown Live. Alexa insulted her and took her out before the match even started and Deonna was then replaced by Becky Lynch. The reason Deonna’s name poked up is that her physical structure is similar to that of the mysterious Luchadora.

She has the motive to go after Alexa and Becky Lynch as well, and with the experience that she has in the independent circuit, Deonna is someone that WWE could push without much hesitation. If she is indeed revealed as La Luchadora, this would be a big step up for her and the Women’s division would get another great talent.

#1 Naomi

It could be her as well

Let’s face it. We could talk all day about how a returning Superstar or a debutant could be under the La Luchadora mask, but in the end, WWE could pull off a swerve and bring in someone already present in the division. Naomi is such an option.

Despite possessing solid skills, Naomi has been relegated to the mid card of Women’s division due to one reason or the other.

A high-profile feud has been eluding her for a long time and La Luchadora could be the answer. Naomi vs. Becky Lynch is a feud that could get people interested and as Naomi has the experience of playing heel and since the Usos are already bad guys, the chances of Naomi being La Luchadora is high.
