WWE are prepared to host its next pay-per-view, Money in the Bank 2020, scheduled for the 10th of May. The last episode of RAW confirmed the final entrant in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match that will now feature Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio. Aleister Black, King Corbin, and Otis.

For the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Asuka, Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, and Carmella will battle it out for the coveted briefcase at the WWE Headquarters. Dubbed as the ‘Corporate Ladder Match’, this Sunday’s edition of the Money in the Bank competition will account for its most unique action to date.

Despite its one-of-a-kind stipulation and increased difficulty, the Money in the Bank matches for both the divisions are expected to be great solely because of the talents set to be involved in a highly captivating match.

In addition, it could be the beginning of a drastic change in the career of whoever walks out of the WWE Headquarters with the Money in the Bank briefcase in his/her hand.

In this article, we will take a look at five WWE Superstars who are most likely to win the Money in the Bank contract this year. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

#5 Baron Corbin (winner of MITB 2017)

Being a heel isn't easy
Being a heel isn't easy

WWE Superstar Baron ‘King’ Corbin draws a lot of heat from the fans, and he has been nailing the role of a bad guy. He is also one of the few Superstars who tries to maintain kayfabe even when he is not obligated to do so.

Over the last few years, we have seen him get better at being a heel, and his in-ring performance has also improved by manifolds. His hard work and dedication towards the craft is the biggest reason behind his push.

King Corbin previously won the Money in the Bank briefcase at the 2017 edition of the PPV. After holding the title for 58 days, Corbin cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase for the WWE Championship on SmackDown but failed to get his hands on the title.

A distraction from John Cena allowed Jinder Mahal to take advantage of the situation, and the latter pinned Corbin to retain his gold.

This year, Corbin defeated Drew Gulak to get a shot at the Ladder’s match for the Money in the Bank contract. Since he is one of the very few Superstars who failed to successfully capitalize on their Money in the Bank opportunity, WWE might hand Corbin a chance to redeem himself from a mistake he made three years ago.

From the business perspective, WWE could decide to have Corbin win the Money in the Bank contract as it would then allow him to draw even more heat. We have seen that the creatives use him to get other Superstars over with the crowd.

His feuds with Chad Gable and Roman Reigns helped both these Superstars in winning over the fans who would actually cheer for anyone who is facing Corbin.

Moreover, Corbin’s ‘King of the Ring’ gimmick has now started to grow stale, and WWE could place the Money in the Bank briefcase in his hand to ensure that Corbin continues to play the role of an annoying Superstar who now has an added advantage.

#4 Shayna Baszler

The 'Queen of Spades' certainly knows how to play the game at MITB

It is not an exaggeration to say that Shayna Baszler is one of the most dominant Superstars in the entire WWE roster today. Her run with NXT is enough to understand and appreciate her potential. Ever since her move to the main roster, Baszler has delivered well even if the storylines were underwhelming.

Earlier, reports suggested that Vince McMahon didn’t perceive Baszler as a main-event Superstar after her match on the Red brand.

However, she still received two chances to take the title from RAW Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch. Even though Baszler still couldn’t manage to beat Lynch for the coveted prize, she is also one of the few contenders who can put up a credible fight against the reigning Champion. Hence, WWE might have her win the Money in the Bank title and cash-in on Lynch in due time.

Allowing Baszler to use her Money in the Bank contract to take the title from ‘The Man’ will help establish her as a prominent heel, and it will do little to no harm to Lynch’s current position on the roster.

Baszler also had a match against Kairi Sane which didn’t end well for one half of the Kabuki Warriors. This means that we will see a compelling interaction between her and Asuka during the match, which will make it even more fun, especially if Baszler ends up winning the Money in the Bank contract.

#3 Aleister Black

Aleister Black definitely deserves better
Aleister Black definitely deserves better

Aleister Black, is, hands down, the most deserving candidate to win this year's Money in the Bank contract. He was incredible on NXT, and despite being involved in a handful of feuds on the main roster, Black is extremely over with the fans.

The fact that it took just one match against Black to kickstart the push for Buddy Murphy on RAW speaks volumes about the former NXT Champion’s caliber.

Although Black has reaped almost nothing from his incredible matches on the Red brand, he has lowkey been one of the best performers on the roster. Therefore, things could change for his best at Money in the Bank PPV.

Black was the first one to qualify for the Men’s Money in the Bank 2020 Ladder Match after picking up a victory over Austin Theory. He is expected to bring the right mix of brutality and charm in the upcoming match. If Black manages to win the Money in the Bank contract, WWE can have him wait until the title rests on the shoulder of a heel before he cashes-in.

If not, the creatives can use this opportunity to turn him into a heel – which is something that will spice up his gimmick and bring him the due appreciation he deserves.

Some may argue that Black’s sporadic matches could be the reason why he isn’t fully prepared to carry the top title of the company. But knowing his past title reigns in the company, we can assure that Black will make for an incredible Champion.

His gimmick has the charisma to keep the fans invested in him, and he has excellent in-ring skills coupled with his compelling work on the mic. Maybe, a Money in the Bank contract will just be the thing that he needs to regain his momentum following which, Black will be unstoppable.

#2 Nia Jax

Nia Jax has an old score to settle
Nia Jax has an old score to settle

It might seem odd that the only two Superstars from the Women’s division included in this list belong to RAW. That’s because the RAW Women’s Championship has more chances of being a victim of the Money in the Bank cash-in as compared to the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

On the Blue brand, Bayley has her feuds lined up and is heading towards a much-awaited Championship rivalry against her best friend, Sasha Banks. WWE would probably refrain from complicating that storyline as they finally seem to be working towards an epic storyline involving the two talented Superstars. Since Banks didn't qualify for the MITB match, it will only add fuel to this budding feud.

On the Red brand, however, Becky Lynch has no serious threat lined up. And the only way she can lose her title without losing her credibility is via a successful cash-in. So far, she has dominated every other Superstar in the Women’s division. But if this continues for too long, Lynch’s title reign may get boring soon.

This is where Nia Jax enters into the picture. She recently returned to the ring after a long hiatus owing to her injury. She is easily one of the strongest contenders for this year’s Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match and can walk away with the briefcase.

If you remember, it was Nia Jax who ‘broke’ Becky Lynch’s face during the Survivor Series clash between the two brands in 2018. That led to a bleeding Lynch standing tall inside the ring with her title held high, and it had her the entire WWE Universe cheering for her.

This little bit of history between both these Superstars can turn into an epic rivalry if the creatives make the best use of it and hand the Money in the Bank contract to the returning Superstar. An arrogant Jax could claim that she was the reason behind Lynch’s sudden rise to the top and the latter could argue that she always had the potential to become ‘The Man’ of the business – just like she did to Charlotte Flair.

It’s very rare for Money in the Bank altercations to be smeared with bits from the past. But this year, WWE have a chance to make sure that they use this long-term rivalry to kickstart a memorable title feud while also allowing Jax to announce her return with a Money in the Bank contract by her side.

#1 AJ Styles

The 'Phenomenal One' was the last entrant in this year's MITB match
The 'Phenomenal One' was the last entrant in this year's MITB match

AJ Styles is arguably one of the best Superstars to have ever stepped inside the squared circle. Last month, he etched his name in history with his memorable Boneyard match against The Undertaker that brought the best out of both the Superstars involved.

AJ Styles was having a great run as a heel on RAW alongside Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Unfortunately, the other two members of the O.C. were released by WWE in order to balance the economic implications of the COVID-19 crisis. But now, he has to look forward to the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV.

In a bid to find his momentum in Single’s competition, AJ Styles will now be keen on making a statement. And what would be better than winning the Money in the Bank contract?

This match will feature the likes of Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio with whom The Phenomenal One can engage in brilliant fashion. The same goes for Aleister Black and Otis. As far as King Corbin is concerned, he will most likely form a temporary alliance with Styles since they are both heels and will be up against four big babyfaces of the company.

Styles has never won the Money in the Bank contract in WWE and that could change later this week. Apart from being a historic decision, it will also allow the creatives to put Styles into the World Title picture in a justified manner.

Hopefully, the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match will also restart the feud between Styles and Black as the two are bound to be involved in a memorable rivalry that will keep the Red brand interesting even when its top Champions are involved in other feuds.

A weekly three-hour show needs compelling content and that’s exactly what Styles’ Money in the Bank win can deliver. There are many signs indicating towards AJ Styles’ win at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV and we hope that the creatives will make the best use of this golden opportunity.
